THANKS FOR WATCHING! - Jak na to + styl
I love decluttering when I'm angry. Then I don't get caught up with 'what if's' and sentiment. It focuses me and I'm very productive.
I´m decluttering 1 thing per day in 2024. It feels very doable, and by the end of the year I will have decluttered 365 things. Yay! To make myself accountable, I have to write everything I declutter down in a notebook. Today it was an umbrella. If I have a busy week ahead of me, I will just declutter 7 things in one day. On top of that I´m having a low by year, and if/when I buy something, I have to declutter an extra thing that day.
That's smart. I need to work on the low buy thing to get to the heart of the issue.
I declutter my fridge and pantry EVERY Monday because trash/ recycle day is on Tuesday's
great idea!
My closet declutterring tip is to have a textile waste bag in my laundry room. If something unusable comes out of the laundry, I drop it in the bag. Once it’s full, off to textile recycling it goes
2024 first quarter goal is paperwork! Important legal stuff (shiver). Your scheduling prompt reminded me of my next step. Scheduling makes it real.
Also, please get a utility drawer divider. I did that years ago and at least the "junk" is somewhat organized. Had literal cringe feelings when I saw all your beautifully organized things loose in your clean drawer.
Thank you for all your timely and encouraging videos!
We always take a picture of what we have in the fridge the day before going grocery shopping. I also keep inventory of canned goods, etc. We're a very busy family so this is so method has worked for us.
You should get a smart fridge, with cameras in it :)
@@mandypdx If there were any, I would!
@@toandiloya585 i have one, it’s great… I even can scan items as i put them in :)
@@toandiloya585 they exist, i have one :)
I am in the midst of clearing out husband’s workshop that is full of 30+ years of ill kept tools, etc etc. the list could go on. He has been diagnosed with cancer (doing well) but as I have been saying for many years, I knew I would be left in a situation like this. Trips to the dump and Value Village , it’s so emotional and overwhelming. People, please do not do this to your loved ones.
I feel you on that, so hard! I lost both of my parents in the last part of 2022. They needed care in the end, so my kids and I lived with them. I am now cleaning out the house we lived in together. They had a LOT of stuff. I'm just getting back to myself and getting started on the decluttering, but it's better already. And I can't wait til I get finished!
Seems like every decluttering channel I listen to have a basement imagine being
basementless I think if I had a genie and he gave me one wish it very well might be a basement I'm in an old house with very little storage for like winter items in the summer decorations Definitely couldn't go to a Sam's Club there's nowhere to put such things I do have a little box with packets in it though😂
Don't clean up the space with him still being alive
I'm so sorry
😢
"If it's single, it's not ready to mingle".😅 Love it!
Great video. One thing I would do is have dividers in utility drawer to keep items neat and organzed.
Me too. So much better
My neice has moved in. And I am slowly decluttering this house. I'm so sentimental about things. But I have realized that what I keep...has to be cleaned or cleaned around. It's helping me deal with the emotional aspect. And now I know that the tub of cords....is one thing that can absolutely goooo! Thank you so much for the motivation girl.
Always love your advice! My 2024 Organizing goals are: bedroom, kitchen and office! I took two weeks of off work to tackle two of the three, and it feels so good to complete it (even though during the two weeks I had a cold)!
Hey I am the weird aunt. Haha 😂
I really want to thank you, I just moved out by myself and I never had anyone to tell me how to run a home or anything you’ve changed my life thank yOu❤
Thought you said we all need a male management system there for a second. 😂
At first I thought the same thing but then I was like...oh MAIL! lol
Omg! Same here! I was like..I don’t know any males who will declutter my home. 🤣 😂🤣😂🥲😂🤣😅🥹 This is one of those times where she needed the words to pop up on the screen.
Same, I was like, yes please give me a management system for my husband and son, hahaha
Same!!
Great video! You look great in the blue sweater. My declutter goals this year are my clothes closet and makeup collection. Did garage and office closet last year😊
Thanks again for a lot of wonderful tips on decluttering. My goal this year is to go through my photos that are hidden under a table and get them organized. Whether it be digital or otherwise 🗑
I was married 50 years ago. I looked through all of the wedding photos recently and threw away all but 8 of them. It sounds terrible but that's all that I need to remember that special day, I did the same with years of photos taken at family functions, vacations, concerts, sporting events, houses, scenery, etc. I looked at them all, then disposed of 90% of them. Only kept the most special ones.
Thank you for meaningful, realistic ideas. ✌️
Great video! I just finished decluttering my Christmas storage area. SO many decorations that we no longer use, as well as serving pieces, candle holders, wine holders, etc. that made their way into the house as hostess gifts! In the end, three bins emptied!!!
Such a good video. I’m in the process of decluttering my closets of extra linens and winter clothes. The office is next. Thank you for the inspiration.
I love the advice you give in deckuttering. I’ve also learned some great cleaning tips from you. As far as cluttering in 2024, I have 2 rooms in the house that are dumping grounds for various items. My office stores electronics (some of which are NOT being used). It’s a craft room, a gift wrapping room, my remote office for work, and we store documents there that continually get lost because they are mis-filed. My office is my top priority for cluttering and reorganizing. The second room is a media room which we done use to watch movies because we use it like it’s a second attic. Most of the stuff in there needs to go…donate or throw away. At least I’ve narrowed it down to two rooms!!! Thanks for the inspiration…it’s so timely for me.
Needlework stuff is my nemesis. I have been cross stitching for close to 50 years so have lots of stuff (junk) and my tastes have changed. I need to go through and get rid of much of it but it is hard to do.
psychological breakdown - thank you for putting this process into words and not skipping over how stressful it is
Paper clutter is my 2024 goal.
Also, I learned a while ago to just say, “no thank you” to swag. If more of us turn it down there won’t be as much floating around and cluttering up the environment.
Junk mail!!! The planet is dying. Do I really need monthly advertisements from the local insurance companies, dentists, and real estate agents? It is ridiculous!
The definition for "swag" must have changed... It use to mean free gift bag full of expensive free stuff at an event, usually held for the rich & celebrities. Now "swag" means leaflets?
@@PinkyToe I think Melissa was referring to things like tote bags, notebooks, water bottles, planners, etc given out at conferences and other business events.
HAPPY SATURDAY! What are you doing today???
Absolutely nothing 🤣 going to watch CZcams then rest with a book
Taking my 4 yr old daughter to the park, so she can be tired later, so I can clean and declutter
I have been sick the past two weeks so house has become a mess! Today, at long last (and thanks to a steroid shot!) I’m feeling up to tackling the messiness!
Thinking of tackling the office clutter today. So much junk, so little space!
Some housework first, which means laundry, get recycling ready to drop off, and trying to dig the dining room out of the giant mess it's in, then possibly dinner out before a concert.
When you get a package open the box at both ends right then and flatten.
2024 goal is the bedroom that has stacks of boxes that need gone through. I moved almost 2 years ago and have never found the time to deal with it. Not looking at the stuff in 2 years means I am much less attched to it, so hopefully easier to get rid of stuff that doesn't matter to me anymore.
My husband actually bought 1000 pack box of ketchup. I almost had a heart attack. I absolutely hate packets and he will use some and leave the rest in the table so I throw them in the trash. He now knows not to ever do it again!
Divorce him
💀💀💀 such a husband thing to do 😂 I'm so sorry.
@@AllyCakes12 I’m still shaking my head. We had bottles of ketchup.

Opposites attract
My most stressful place to declutter are my closets as I start to do them but as soon as I start I stop but this will change this spring as I'm going to ( as my late mom would say, blitz my closets ❤
I’ve been saying that for seven years, the closet is still full of things I don’t need
My goal for this year is to get the whole house decluttered! Along with our garage and storage area. It feels like we are drowning in clutter. We have a pretty small house and I need it to feel roomier and less suffocating! I'm tired of the mental inventory in my head. I'm just taking it day by day doing what I can. Planning on having a massive yard sale this spring is making it easier for me to get rid of things.
My nephews loved going through grandma’s junk drawer.
My partner and I are moving in together, and Ive already been on the decluttering journey for like 3 years, hes asked me for help because he realized that he was so much more relaxed at my old (very simplified) place, and we're making a lot of progress 😊 and I think decluttering and cleaning are fun lol. Today we are tackling his clothes
Love all your tips, thank you!❤ you look so beautiful☺️
I'm a teacher so the summers are my main decluttering time. Last summer I went through my closet and listed all my clothes with tags still on them to sell online (too many, but it's made me more careful with purchases now). I can't bring myself to donate those, but older or used clothes I did. In general I have a hard time knowing whether I need better organization, or just less "things". I live in a condo so it seems the space is always an issue though.
I keep small appliance boxes, with the receipt stapled inside, in case it breaks before the return period ends. Then it goes in the recycling.
My nemesis is small containers for traveling. I have 3 boxes of little containers. Those are my to - declutter, along with sentimental papers and finishing diy/craft projects so I can declutter the extra unused items.
Something I'm dreading is a digital declutter. Since emails and photos don't have a large physical pile I forget about it.
I’m determined to declutter 2 categories this year - supplies for crafts I no longer do and holiday decorations.
This is my goal for the year as well!!
I put acrylic organizers in my junk drawer to fit the items I store there. I love having in all contained, and if one little bin overflows it is super easy to decrease that inventory
I am going to declutter all the memorabilia from family that my daughter will just throw away when I die.
Swedish Death cleaning
My MIA - I'm in Grannie Flat, with front door opening into the kitchen/ living &, dining room - so I try to keep that area fairly tidy, counters and floor clear, dishes washed daily. I make my bed when I get up
Working on going through areas in my studio/ library/ music room - which tends to attract piles!
My 2024 organizing goal is our garage!! Its never been organized.
Literally everything 😅 going through every section to get more minimalist
I'm like you. I need to clean out my office. I also need to be better with my scheduling.
If your sock holes are still tiny and you still have 2, learn to fix them immediately and avoid garbage. ❤
That works for knitted socks, but thinner woven socks (like trouser socks) usually can't be salvaged with darning.
My garage, I hope to have that organized by summer 2024.
For 2024 I’m decluttering subscriptions any and all 😁
Hopefully you'll stay subscribed to Clean My Space ;)
@@cleanmyspace of course!🙌😆 will keep just the good ones!😉💗
Can you do a review on bagged vacuums? Love the videos btw :)
Great advice! My closest stresses me out! I can’t seem to let go of anything 😪 and it’s a small space.
😊😊Dividers in Utility drawer would be great!
I actually have never had a junk drawer. It always cracks me up when people think they need one. If serves a purpose or it where you use it with like things. If it's junk, get rid of it. I like the way you think.
I agree. I have never had a junk drawer but have a deliberate place for items we use.
I actually save a couple boxes to fill with donation items instead of using my trash bags that I paid for. Thanks for video and info.
21:15 Go through the basement and do a Swedish death cleaning:)
Taking before and after pictures is so motivating. Also, the decluttered pictures can help when making buying decisions. My regret is that i did not do enough before picts . By the way my office is also my need to address this spring and my closet when the seasons change. 😅
I’m gonna declutter my Mum & Dad’s bedroom.
I live on my own & there’s quite a lot of stuff to get rid of & organise.
My decluttering nightmare is anything my hubby owns…yes you heard right. No he’s not a hoarder but he always says, "I paid for it, I’m keeping it!”, even if it doesn’t fit or I wouldn’t be seen with him if he wore it LOL 😝. And not only his clothes, everything…he hunts; so all his calls for every type of animal on this earth (ok I might be exaggerating but you get my point), his tools, etc. I have to say he’s getting better but I still purge stuff when he’s gone for a while and he doesn’t even notice. Oh of this topic a bit, you should read about “swiss death cleaning” - I know it sounds like a horror movie but it’s the way and reason Swiss declutter…really interesting and makes us more mindful. I have implemented and even talked to hubby and it made him think more about all his stuff. I really encourage everyone to read about this, for real
I have so many areas to do! I keep putting off the extra bdrm/office/storage room. I have just been throwing things in there and not organizing or decluttering them. I have done so many areas so far, but I have to do that room now, as I have the things that should be going in there in containers now and nowhere to put the items. I feel like I need to hire a Professional Declutter person to help me. lol OR maybe not!
I have a space in my garage where i do keep boxes so that i have free psckaging for unwanted things i sell on ebay when i decluttwr. For me, all these amazon boxes and padded envelopes are so useful for this. I only keep some stacked. I pack up every item am trying to sell already ready for despatch. I keep retail boxes until i am sure i am keeping something and then dispose of it.
I disagree with the single sock. I keep a single sock in my sock drawer when the inevitable sock rips. The single sock now has a buddy. Hooray!
I save the singles for cleaning
My new year's resolution - and decluttering goal - was simply, "I will throw away the things I no longer need." There's a whole lot of actual trash in the house that has outlived its useful life. Like the socks you mentioned - had just thrown away three pairs with holes in them this morning. It's not just about decluttering, though - it's about actually being more mindful of not keeping things that "might be useful" when the last dozen times I kept things like it, I never used the useful thing. The de-swag one won't be an issue, because we already give away almost all of that stuff.
I keep boxes in my shed. My reason is just in case l end up moving down the track. Over the last 20 years, l've moved 4 times, averaging 5 years per home.
The smaller boxes l use to package and send items as required.
Usually when you're in desperate need for a box/boxes, you don't have any on hand.
I visualized how I wanted my space to look like first because once I knew that part I could start working towards it. 👩🏽 ✨. When I didn’t know what I wanted, I procrastinated and didn’t do anything.
As far as the packet thing goes if it’s from food delivery ask the restaurant to not give them to me. My goal is the paperwork I need to get rid of in a tote and another tote with pictures of my children and things they made in school(embarrassing, they are 37 & 38)We lost some important things in a fire so I need to go through it and rethink my endgame for each item. I pledge to get it done! Thanks for the advice and encouragement. It’s always good to see you. These videos are fun. I see it’s cold there. Stay warm and safe. Believe it or not it is cold here in Florida. It’s actually going to be 37 degrees tonight 1-20-2024. That’s cold for us. Funny side note: when the temperature here is cold there is a chance that iguanas fall from trees . They don’t die they are stunned by the cold weather and unable to grip so they fall. 🦎😊 Take care!
After I get a package and inspect the item, I break down the box and put it in the recycling bin. As for mail I deal with it right away but I don't bring circulars into the house. They go straight to the recycling bin. As for swag I never take items that are free unless it's something that is useful which is never. I started a job with an insurance company back in October. A month before training they shipped me a swag box. Whatever didn't get donated got tossed in the recycling bin. In office they are periodically trying to gift us things. They even had a site for all employees, new and old, to receive a free Christmas gift. People were surprised when I stated that I declined any gift. I've spent the past four years decluttering so if it does not serve a purpose then I don't bring it into my space.
I run a pottery business, so I recycle/keep my boxes for shipping out items... but they are cumbersome, even when you break them down. And stack them according to size.
Great tips! I have quite a few drawers that are bugging me. 🙃
I need to de-clutter and clean out, my guest bedroom. When hubby and I moved into this home, we lost a bedroom, and a bathroom so now we have three and two. One is our bedroom another is my husband's office, and the other is for EVERYTHING else! So many boxes! But, now my 89 yo mother needs to come live with us. This bedroom, I have cleaned many boxes out, but I still have more to go. I also have 6 wardrobe boxes where I need to figure out what fits, and what doesn't, MUST GO!!! Hard to deal with. But, I must hurry because the date is coming quickly! Can you please come help me??? Thank you, I appreciate all of your help.
My biggest decluttering task for 2024 is my bedroom. While the middle of my room is clear, the perimeter of my room is full of stuff. It has been hard to clean it because I am emotionally attached to a lot of it.
Decluttering area I dread: the garage! 😮
Cleaning!
I'm decluttering my entire house in 2024. Every single room is getting purged 1 at a time. I've already started in my kitchen because it is definitely my MIA. Wish me luck! Lol
Do you have tips on declutering and moving? Trying not to be overwhelmed so started early as we move in about 4 months and started packing things we don't need right now. I'm not afraid to get rid of stuff.
I have moved a copious amount of times. The advice I give is to have the room colors. I.e. living room orange bedroom 1 yellow bed 2 brown anyway pack the most necessary that WILL have a spot. If otherwise, get rid of it. Frames, books never read, clothes with too much wait time😅 tools you wont use or if you need a "new" tv size for the space. Get rid of on marketplace and buy ready to install when you move. Pack the necesity such as forks pan, reuseable, bowl for mixing, dish soap and sponge for the meantime while kitchen is set up.❤
My2024 goal is to declutter my closets and get rid of my Christmas decorations as I stopped decorating a few years ago as I have parakeets who are allowed to fly around the living room when I'm home
My new year going through whole house, gather what I don't need and take to goodwill. Take it quickly😅
Not the weird aunt analogy 😂😂
Pictures!!!
Alternative to the single sock solution: Have one specific spot where you put them all, and if they are still single in like 6 months, then get rid of them. I have re-paired many socks this way.
The junk drawer was so relatable! 🤣
Ignore emotions when deciding what to keep. Also if the item makes you feel good, then you can keep it. 🤔?
Also when I get done eating this ice cream I'm going straight home and get rid of that pack of cards that I kept that's never been unwrapped everything in this channel it's like you know me and you're trying to help me out
Which OxiClean do you use? Thank you
I have 3 boxes of photos to sort and divide and give to my children.
I have 6 clear containers of sewing knitting ect of supplies. ( do not have a basement.
I have to go through my walk-in closet. There are so many clothes in here I don't like, doesn't fit right I just need the time to try everything on and declutter.
We don’t have much storage in our house, so our spare bedroom has turned into a storage space. It’s a mess! I would love to make it a guest room with storage. That’s my goal for the year.
I sold my business and so do not need to have a 'full' office at home. I want to reclaim that space as a guest room with a small desk that I can use to store basic office essentials
This has nothing to do with the video topic but I can’t help myself … that painting behind you is it a rendition of the famous poolside by Slim Aarons? I love it!!! Even cooler than the photograph!
I get overwhelmed whenever decluttering and cleaning. To mitigate this, I try my possible best to do things right away... eg file the document that I need & toss away those not needed once I received them.
Even that, cabinet still fill with clutters. 😂
My husband and I live in a small two bedroom garden home. Hence, I only have two bedroom closets and one coat closet which I have turned into a vacuum, mop, cleaning closet. Eeek! It’s so hard to figure out how to store items that really shouldn’t be in a bedroom closet! Any suggestions?
Immediate thought: Oh, yeah, I need a Male Management System...
Melissa got iokes 🤣🤣 love the single sock jokes
My fridge broke this week and I didn't realize how much I overbought until I had to put it all on ice in a cooler.
Better tip:
1) Freeze your food & thaw the day of or before; alternatively, don't buy more food than you plan to eat in the next three to four days.
2) A penny saved is a penny earned: if you see a hole in your sock, garment or bedding - mend it with a needle & thread. If you can thread a needle & tie a knot, you can sew.
3) Donate your used clothes & money to the poor if you're just going to throw money away.
I have bags of clothes from last spring we had to clear the house. Bags that I have to launder and fold and put away, approximately 20 large bags full. Help!!!
How do you convince your spouse to getting rid of stuff?
I am decluttering paper documents. I have multiple five inch binders with medical and school records, statements, etc., and I can make them digital reference files (and get them off my desk and out of my shelves) by scanning them at the library scanner to my USB drive. My goal is not bringing a single piece of paper into 2025, except for my birth certificate!
My office and my studio
Be real, be yourself, be unique, be true, be honest, be humble, be happy.
My important area that needs decluttering is my desk and paperwork
Garage - that area is having a hair cut this year.
Fridge freeup x10
The problem I have is the guilt of creating waste if I just throw out perfectly good functional stuff. The UK is very limited on facilities for full recycling, so its hard to find or afford disposal of stuff plus finding time to list stuff to sell on ebay etc. What to do? I don't know, except throw out stuff and create landfill or more plastic waste - aarrrgh! Makes me feel so bad.
Hey, I AM that weird aunt! 😂
I followed some of your videos last year and ended up giving away things that I really didn't want to. Declutter regret is real and irreversible once the stuff is gone.
I am sorry that was your experience. Try the time will tell approach. Remove the things from your space and put them in a bin. If you don't miss them after a set time, its OK to let go
I haven't seen any decluttering videos from any content creator that tell you to get rid of things you *really* want to keep. Memory bins and time will tell bins help keep that from happening, but it will occasionally happen, you have to accept it as part of the decluttering journey. As for the regret, shake it off and know you will do better in the future. Live and learn!😊
I hear you! I went back to the thrift shop and bought a couple of my own things.
I happen to be that weird aunt and I feel attacked. 🤨😂🤪
Boxes, let the kids play with it until recycling day!
