Many original artists made fantastic music back then and didn't know anything about royalties, publishing, etc and made music for the love of it which is why many like me play their music till today. Channel 1, Roots Radics band, any singer mixed at King Tubbys by scientist = a hit. The good thing is most of those artists can still make money performing live or on dubplate to this day because of the quality of their music. Many nowadays artists will only last a couple of years because they see music as business.
