Which team played like crap? The one who dominated most of the game, or the one who parked the bus? Portugal didn't play great, but from mid performance, to crap, there's a long way. It's one those games, Portugal scoring one goal early, and Slovenia would get battered.
As for Diogo Costa, he didn't carry the team for the entire match, he did it in the last minutes of extra time and the penalty shootout. He made what, 2 saves the entire 120 minutes? One of them was huge, the other was standard.

@@dcarvalho6144That's all a good goalie on a good team really has to do. Mamardashvili obviously had quite the effort for Georgia, but he was playing for what frankly was just an ok team but played amazingly. His touch is terrible, he's slow af, zero agility and he's just parked at the far post waiting for crosses. Fernandes is one of the best freekick specialists in the world and CR7 takes every single freekick. It's criminal to waste our best generation and the dreams of millions of portuguese fans just so we dont hurt some retired billionaire's feelings. To be clear they should support him and console him but because thats always been thie case he shouldnt be captain and hasnt for any team historically. He plays like a mercenary on the field and always has its why he has played in so many places for so many managers and doesnt speak glowingly about anyone.

The Portugal Slovenia game was not boring. Maybe not up there with the likes of 1970s Netherlands or 1950s Hungary, but a great duel between two very different teams. Slovenia defended manfully for two hours and could have stolen the win late on. Think they should have started with Stankovič though, he added a bit of bite in midfield once he came on and played some great forward passes that almost led to chances. Portugal deserved to go through in the end, but the Slovenes can go home with their heads held high.

As a Slovenian I a proud of this team obvously I would have rather lost a little less emberisingly in the shout out. But oh no we lost as the underdog what a shock. If only Šeško didnt fucking shoot on the ground. Just go around him or chip or just aim higher and that other miss hit shoot like cmon and also why did we put Balkovec and Verbič as a 2nd and 3rd pen takers like im fine with Iličić but Balkovec like why its so stupid to have your best player on the 5th pen he should be first not less get some pressure off and did Kek have to get a red card just shut up dont complain also what even happened that he got sent off. And šeško why why just do anything else than shoot low. Good job Portugal beating us on pens u will surely win the Euros now. Like how are u so shit make some damn changes it obviously didnt work.

I get people defending him, saying he's human and he feels like he has the whole world on his shoulders. And I agree, he has so much pressure on him to perform for Portugal.
However, I also see the other side of the argument. It's just a miss penalty. With 15 minutes to go against Slovenia at 0-0, you just don't have a mental breakdown and start crying. You need to keep tour head in the game. Everyone's looking up to you for support, you need to show strength.

How did Portugal play terribly? Sure there was an issue with the finalizing aspect, as it had been since the beginning, but Portugal played well against a team that had the least possession percentage in the competition, at least, until minute 70. Their focus is defending and they executed it really well. That's why they got this far... by trying to wait for a counter-attack and defending cohesively and being really well organized. Oblak was astounishing on Slovenia's side, but Diogo Costa is simply a beast at keeping...and you can see that at Porto.
As for Rafael Leao, yeah he struggles to find an opening between defense's lines, but with the ball, he's quite fast. On the other hand, I think Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva, weren't that great, actually, they have been mediocre since the beginning of the tournament... and their performance is below par, compared to what we see in club....
Ronaldo's freekicks were quite good, besides the one on the left side...it made no sense for him to try and score... But idk, who would take Ronaldo's turn to score a freekick? Bruno? nah i don't think so... Other than that, I'm not sure what people are expecting from him, he's 39 yrs old, playing his last euro, and frankly, he's doing okayish

You invite pressure onto yourselves so that you can exploit the spaces when you're able to get the ball back. It's the other team's job to then be able to tactically get through said block, and Portugal showed against Czechia and Georgia they are barely able to get through a low block, so Slovenia took advantage.
