    Madeleine Beaumont is a Senior Portfolio Manager of the BlackRock Concentrated Industrial Share Fund. BlackRock is the world’s largest fund manager, with over $5 trillion under management.
    Madeleine describes how she identifies companies with pricing power and emphasises the importance of focusing on the future of the markets, rather than giving all our attention to what’s happening right now.

    Alan Kohler: Last week in the spotlight we gave you an investor who just invests in the banks.
    Mike Macro: I’m looking over 20 years. The position of the four major banks has actually improved. Their market share has actually gone up.
    Alan Kohler : This week, it’s an investor who doesn’t like the banks at all.
    Madeleine: We’re now in a place that we got over 65% of the index is actually financial, 25% alone is just for the four banks. So, most people are now sitting on a position and a lot of their wealth is tied up in that one trade.
    Alan Kohler: It’s Madeleine Beaumont, Senior Portfolio Manager for Black Rock Australia. Now, Black Rock is the world’s biggest fund manager with about five trillion dollars of money. Unfortunately the powers of be at Black Rock won’t let Madeleine talk about specific stocks.
    Madeleine: I know, I wish I could talk about stocks, I’ve got some great answers. I’ll come back to that.
