EASY OBEDIENCE TRAINING WITH MY BELGIAN MALINOIS PUPPY! HEEL/ SIT/ DOWN/ STAY!

- In this session I run my Belgian Malinois through basic obedience commands; Heel, Sit, Down, Stay! I show all training equipment and rewards used as well as many different training techniques and approaches. 'Working" a dog does not mean physically exercising them, but rather making them use their brain to control their body for various exercises and tasks. A session like this puts SO much value in me and 'puts money in the bank' when it comes to bonding with my dog. This is much more special than launching a ball for a half hour!
I will answer all questions left in the comments! We're almost at 10K LETS GOOOOOO!!!!!

Mcmillian is incredible! We watch his show lucky dog and can't believe what a selfless helping person he is. The book czcams.com/users/postUgkxfKlzfzw0sMZ_RgZNzMeOPu6d4b5i5XWl has his training methods from both the show and new tricks i had not heard until i got the book. Simple dog psychology and pointers to make the methods stick. Great insight to the thinking of dogs. There is so much more we know now about our dogs. Fear in training no longer apply. I cannot say enough about this book and it's author.
You don’t scold puppies. You’re putting them in situations setting them up for failure. Therefore need to scold yourself!
The fact that this dog loves to go into the collars and is wagging his tail during this training is living proof that this trainer is not abusing this dog with these training tools/devices. Did you see any misuse? Intelligent dogs love good training and strive to please with good training. This dog loves this stuff! I use a Martingale collar to keep my dog from pulling at the heel and/or bolting from the heel. My dog loves a good walk and some training and then finishing the walk. Then he likes to come home and play games like fetch and tug. Thanks for the video!
Thank you 🙏🏼
We work hard to achieve high levels of training using the best equipment possible! 🙌🏻
This is a BELGIAN MALINOIS. It’s a dog that needs training, and love it.
@Waya Wolf shooting sports I’ve found over the years that people who ‘dislike’ the Ecollar often form that opinion from an emotional standpoint. It’s never based on matter of fact evidence and they never have any real experience with the tool. I’ve personally converted hundreds of clients that were on the fence and they have all thanked me! 🙏🏼
@@Truc_Aveline All dogs, no matter breed, needs training tho. Some just more than others.
Mines loves playing fetch I taught her to sit and stay with a soft ball 😂 worked like a charm
I stumbled upon this by accident, but amazing to see how well trained your dog is. We had a malinois ' mechelse herder' when I was a kid. He was roaming around the stables behind our house. after a couple of days he decided to follow us and run into our garage door, on christmas eve. He was a young dog, estimated like 7 or 8 months at that time. I remember my father calling the police to report a lost animal and they promised they would pick him up the next day. He was super friendly and as we didn't have any dogfood in the house my sister and i fed him dry ' soldatenkoeken' which translates to soldier cookies. I'm so glad police never came to get him because he became part of the family and was always there for us. We later learned he was probably kicked out by a breeder who lived in the town next to ours because he was to kind for attack orders. However he never failed to guard the house, chasing of burglars twice and defended my sister once when she was harrased by some drunk bikers at a bar near our neighbourhood. I really loved that dog, it's been almost 20 years since he passed away and I still remember him vividly. A friend, a family member and the most loyal being you could imagine. Gypsy, you will always be in our hearts !
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Hlo
My dog 🐶 does not backs
Oh man, I feel you... I used to have a "mechelse herder" as well in our friendly dutch town where I used to live :-) Fantastic animal, my best buddy and friend. We got the dog when I was 5-6 years old, the dog was around 2 years old at the time. I grew up with her, I have no siblings and she was my best friend until she was over 16 years old (I was 21/22 or something) and passed away. Active until her late senior years. I have been heart broken for such a long time and still miss that dog 15 years later.
We could do anything with that dog. We did all sorts of training activities, my parents used to go to the forest with that dog 3 times a day (and I joined as often as possible too), she never needed a leash either and would simply listen on great distances. It was more to comfort other humans that sometimes we would put her on a leash.
It was an absolute delight to grow up with such a special animal with so much character.
Loved this video!
How would you handle a very strong, hyper, untrained adult Belgium Malinois who constantly pulls and tries to chase cars, birds, and squirrels, during walks????
He is very smart and sweet and will sit and stay, in the house, for short periods of time, for a treat.
He loves people and other dogs, (except for one dog that initiated a fight with him and a few known petty thieves in the community, who he barks at, nonstop and tries to chase, when he sees them, because I believe they stole some things from our yard, before.)
I love his show and thisjust summarizes and lays out all of the basic methods he uses on the show. What i love about this guide czcams.com/users/postUgkxKkYeOoCV_w2vPX0CSyVWkhew2c4FYk0d is that you don' need to read the whole book cover to cover ... You can skip to the chapter (lesson) you want to read about. The book is arranged almost as a problem-solving guide ... Here is the problem and here is what you need to know/do to correct it. This man knows his stuff ... But more importantly knows how to teach people how they can work with their pups themselves!
There are loads of videos of BM’s being these magnificent well-trained attack machines so I really appreciate that you are showing how much a BM loves to be loved as well.
Thank you 🙏🏼
The second my dogs hear me pick up the ecollar they are right next to me ready to go. They know its time to work. And they love it. Great video!
It is all about the small details. Watching you in such an „easy“ session is still helpful, also i thought i trained this in a good way for a long time. Thank you Andy!
I have had my Malinois for about 8 weeks and am trying to teach her these basics. She is a puller on the leash, so I’m trying the snack reward. But she would rather sniff and track than heel for a snack. But she’s getting better.
She is a very sweet girl with a ferocious counterpart. 🐕🤗
Love that you explained the reward delivery mechanics! I’ve learned that how, when & where you reward is so important. I’m def going to use that tip to push the food reward in because my dog tends to creep out of stay positions in anticipation of her food! Thank you!
Awesome! Yes it’s one of my favorites, I even use this same technique rewarding the stand position. Especially pays off for the Change of Position exercise 👍🏻
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
I appreciate the transparency and naturalness with which you show the use of all the tools useful for training, even in a historical moment so full of animal rights activists who understand nothing about dogs, learning or training.
I have 2 Belgium Mals. 5 year old Chase, 2 year old Mako. I'm kind of new to this breed but learning to train with professional help. I got the time, $$$ and plenty of space to train and most importantly- Patience and dedication. I have been working with the basics and building strong bond with them both. So far so good. Love these videos. Can't wait to watch them all. Many thanks Andy.
Awesome! Thank you 🙏🏼

Any advice my Belgium is not smart she won’t grab anything look where I’m pointing at or if I sit she’ll lay down and turn away

We got a rescue puppy a year ago They days she was lab/ Shepard cross... I couldn't train her! We found out she is Malinios this is so helpful! Thank you!
We just recently took in our sons 3 year old bel mal that he adopted. We are starting with the basics on training. He sits and lays down but not to good on heel and stay. Will be using these techniques for training..wish me luck
I cant believe all this info your teaching us
Thank you, you are the best
I have 3 chocolate Labs that are amazing animals , healthy, full of love and energy and each priceless in their own way. My next dog will be a BM but I will only have 1 of them and will dedicate myself to our friendship and happiness. What a beautiful buddy you there Sir. My favorite quote is from Tom Sawyer "the more I learn about people, the more I like my dog". Wisest words I have ever heard. Cheers from Canada. Great video and explanation. Seeing a dog interact with you like yours does is such a joy to watch.
Gotta love the Freddy man!!!
Oh yeah! 💪🏼🙏🏼
I got female Belgian and she is so sweet and smart
Thanks for sharing. I’m always fascinated to hear what people’s definition of ‘smart’ is. Could you elaborate?
You got me hooked. I'm trying to train my Belgian malinois. Your videos are great.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
So, about 7 weeks ago, a Belgian (X?) showed up in our barn. About 5 weeks ago, she started swelling like a balloon! 5 nights ago, the night of the lunar eclipse of the full blood moon, she gave birth to 14 healthy pups! Yes, you read that right! 🤯🤯🤯🤯
I'm in a similar boat... I had a backyard throw away move in, and she just popped out 10 pups
Excellent. This is what I did with my aussie.
Just stumbled across this on my wall feed, and being that I'm looking into getting one of these adorable fur missiles with unlimited energy known as Belgian Malinois, I found this extremely informative and entertaining at the same time. Love the video
Thank you very much 🙏🏼
I Just so happen to see your shows tonight and I have literally enjoyed watching each 1. You are what I have been looking for on training dogs such as you do . I am 71 yrs old and have 2 good size dogs that needs a LOT of training. I am excited to try your approach as I have tried so many but yours has interested me the most and want these dogs I have to be able to do the Same thing.. Happy Training Keep on Keepin On. Awesome
TYVM for this video exactly what I’m looking for . Learning the basics . I definitely subscribed
Thank YOU! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Fantastic, man! Just got a very similar looking Malinois and I can't wait until she gets a bit older so I can train her! Thanks for your content!
Mastering the basics! Awesome stuff. Thanks!!
Thanks for watching! 🙏🏼
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
The best training sir. When I was your video I get knowledge to much. Thanks for sharing sir.
We had a beautiful but huge Shepherd who I couldn't ever walk with because she pulled so hard. We tried the collar literally one time for about 15 minutes...it was as if before we used the collar, she thought we wanted her to pull us along! She was completely walkable by any sized person after that.
She wasn't injured at all and it changed her life.
Changed my opinion of the collar forever.
you mean the ecollar? So what did you do when the dog pulled? press the button and then he stops pulling?
Got our first Malinois -rescued from the local shelter. He is 7 years-has a few basics but no “stay”. Excited to find a trainer on you tube that works on these basics. We have moose-it’s very important to teach “leave it” and “stay” to keep us and Tuck safe.
Love the pointers, and this semi guide. Repetition is everything I have learned with my Maligator. I have a Yearold Female who is house trained good with sit, stay, and lay down. Pulled up your vid/looked up, to get a better idea on the outdoor side of things as she is a wild beast lol. Nice vid and Beautiful Mali!
Thanks Andy from Downey Ca
Relax, is an understatement....
Nice video,but we dont speak
french in the town of Mechelen (malinois) its in the flemisch regio off the country .
The flemisch name off the belgain malinois is mechelse herder te commands in flemisch are
Heel=hiel sit=zit stay=blijf down=lig wait=wacht come=kom off=af leave it= afblijven
Belgium is a small country with 3 official languages ,flemisch france and german.
Just a little info, like the video and the dog.i got one my self there amizing grtz from belgium gunther
Great info. He is trained for a French dog sport, hence the language 👍🏻
We have a German Shepard, definitely a new breed for the family. Bought him 6months, i started training him by watching CZcams. Yup, he makes a great watch dog & loves the family especially the children. Very needy, big baby, follows me all over the house, sheds a lot, picky eaters. Most of all, we love him and we know he does too. After im finished with school, ive thinking a lot of getting a Belgian Maliona. Yes, itll take a lot of time and patients. Which they have a lot of energy, therefore i need all of my life to be with.
Lol, he tried to hug your arm with his sharp teeth and strong jaws. Mine does the same. #loveit
I trained both my standard poodles with a prong collar, and it’s the best tool (if used properly). They were always excited when I put it on because it meant work and fun.
The energy of this video is intense even with the smooth jazz. Hell yeah!
Thanks!
Hello 👋 how are you doing 😊 and how is the weather ☁️ over there?
Malinois one of the best working dog
Agree! ⚔️
I recently adopted a mallinois/dachshund mix. (Interesting I know).
He is about 8 months and has clearly never had any training which is why the previous family gave him up. I am very dedicated to training this dog so this video is very helpful.
And today…almost 60K!! Great job, new sub👍🏽
Our Rottweiler and Catahoula Leopard Dog cross pups love training. Thanks for your videos.
Awesome! Thank YOU! 🙏🏼
Big muscular super driven male Mal. He loves to work and he loves you. Nice Doggie

Yes is the same word I use. 10 years ago we took my mallie to a trainer who was adamant we use “touch” as a positive marker. I insisted on using “yes” instead. He said it was a bad idea for various reasons. Cool to see a pro use the same word.
Nice Mal nice job training Like the smoothness.
your vids are so fun and motivate me to train my dogs! :D

Thank you so much for this video brother. I needed something like this since I just got a BM a week ago and she’s only 13 months. Can’t exactly take her to work with our BM on base, so this is helpful for ME working with her one on one.
I have a Belgian malinois and pitbull mix, training him has been and continues to be a handful but the goal is to continue training him until he’s the best he can be

I don’t have to use the same method you use, I speak French so I understand. And I speak German and perfect English .my speciality is dressage and jumping horses and cross country horses also endurance horses well done thankyou for your contribution
My dogs are so energetic apart from training i take them on walks everyday!
thise guys are so energetic. The moment i miss the time for their walk even if its by a minute those guys would bark and howl until i get their leash and dog treats. Oh the dog treats! Never forget the dog treats theyd be like. Its fun i got the same dog and he jumps on me on a daily bases.

@@bensongraham162I'm fine. sunny and dry as always. Hope ur doin ok too
Great video! Thanks for sharing. We don’t allow prongs where I’m from. And our trainer is r+, but I absolutely appreciate great trainers and different methods. Proof is in the pudding. Your dog isn’t displaying meta signals that show distress or discomfort. I think many people see aversive tools and condemn them. It’s easy when we have goofy but highly biddable labs, or Goldens or cavs with low prey drive. I’m always open to learning new things. And you’ve got a new subscriber ☺️
Also I LOVE that you mentioned you don’t need the tools and you give advice for people who aren’t or don’t want to use them. There’s too many people sitting on their moral high horse. Im super impressed with this channel. I came back to this comment because my first was only half way through the video. At the end I was even more impressed.
Thanks so much 🙏🏼🙏🏼

@@bensongraham162 Getting colder now
I have a Belgian malanois whippet mix. She is only a yr old and have had her for two months . I got it from a friend that saw someone literally throwing her out of a rolling car. We do believe that she was in a dog fighting ring at the dog and fought back is the reason why they got rid of her. So she has fear and anxieties. We try to take her for walks in hikes and there's times where she wants to attack everybody and other dogs while we're doing that. We have tried different things to calm her. I've never had aggressive dog like this. She is never been aggressive with us just others that she doesn't know. And this doesn't happen every time sometimes she's just fine. My vet friend said that she has fear and anxiety. I've had dogs my whole life and never had to deal with something like this. I believe once you get an animal you keep them until their times up or our times up. So what kind of suggestions do you have for me to relieve her anxiety and fears
The only thing to do is working IN DEPTH with a qualified professional dog trainer. This is not a diy training situation at all 🙏🏼
