Key features characteristics:
One-key-operation with automatic power off.
Three test jacks with clips for universal use.
Automated detection of NPN, PNP, N- and P-channel
MOSFET, JFET, diodes, small thyristors, TRIAC.
Automated detection of pin assignment,
The (DUT) device under test can be connected to the tester in any order.
Measurement of hFE and base-emitter-voltage for bipolar junction transistors, Darlingtons.
Automated detection of protection diodes in bipolar junction transistors and MOSFETs.
Bipolar junction transistors are detected as a transistor with a parasitic transistor
(NPNp = NPN + parasitic PNP).
Up to two resistors measured with a resolution down to 0.1 ohm.
The measurement range is up to 50 Mohm (Megaohm).
Resistors and capacitors will be displayed with their respective symbol, pin number and value.
Resistors below 10 ohm will be measured with the ESR approach and a resolution of 0.01 ohm
Note resolution is not accuracy.
Capacitors range 35pF (picofarad) to 100mF (millifarad) measured with a resolution down to 1 pF.
Vloss of capacitors greater 5 nF is examined. With this it is possible to estimate its Q-factor.
Separate capacitance and ESR measurement available.
Capacitors of 2 µF to 50 mF can usually be measured in-circuit.
You have to discharge the capacitor beforehand.
Up to two diodes will be displayed with their correctly aligned symbol, pin number and voltage drop.
If it's a single diode, the parasitic capacitance and reverse current will also be measured.
A measurement of ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) of capacitors greater than 20 nF is built in.
The resolution is 0.01 Ohm. For lower capacity values the accuracy of ESR result becomes worse.
Menu function can be reached with a long key press (greater than 2 s).
A short key press switches to the next function. A long key press starts the function.
Frequency measurement
The frequency is measured for 1 second. If it is below 25 kHz,
the period will be measured to improve accuracy.
Resolution goes down to 0.001 mhz.
Frequency generation
Generate a signal with 1 Hz to 2 MHz at port 2. Port 1 is ground.
Variable PWM (pulse width modulation) with fixed frequency at port 2. Port 1 is ground.
Short press increases pulse width by 1 %, long press by 10 %.
Pro
Screen easy to read
Can identify a variety of semiconductors and indicate the pin function
Relative inexpensive for its function
Has DUT (device under test) quick connector adapter
Can test SMD with DUT
Can do limited in circuit testing
Decent case
Came with manual (one of them)
Many models on amazon or ebay
Lots of space to hardwired a 9v power supply connector
Cons
No battery included
Clips are of the cheapest kind and break easily
One button function select using Long or Short press (can be very annoying)
That proskit mt5110 looks like a quality device.
The wire clips are a bit flimsy but other that that it not a bad unit. There is enough room to put a 9v connector for using external power supply. You can drain a 9v battery easily if using a lot.
It's super expensive here. It's about $80. It looks like it could survive a few falls off the bench etc which is why I want one. The cheap ones I have break too easily.
I have one of these but the display arrangement is different. I have tried lots on transistors but none show hFE (gain) yet yours does!. My version is 1.12k.
Did you figure out what is wrong with old one. I have the same issue it turns on and then will not test anything. I am thinking firmware issue.
It is a hardware/firmware issue.I could only get it to partial work when first turned on, but otherwise it is broken and could not get it to work. I was able to get a replacement sent to me by the supplier.
