      Get a can of formula encase your milk doesn’t come in right away or you have to supplement for a few days or weeks. I had a baby 3 months ago and had to supplement for the first few weeks while my milk supply built up. Also be open to being an exclusive pumper. My baby never latched but I pump and give it in a bottle.

      Boppy nursing pillow. Even if you don't nurse it's a great pillow to have to bottle feed, prop the baby for tummy time, if you need a c-section it's so awesome to have! Definitely a must for me!

    If you have a changing table I highly recommend putting the baby mobile above that instead of above the crib :). I find that it makes diaper changes so fun because he is playing with us and distracted while getting diaper changes and it’s more interactive and fun. I find the mobile above the crib provides another distraction that prevents baby from falling asleep because they end up playing instead of sleeping lol.

    For your postpartum registry- check with your OBGYN about what your hospital supplies for you! Most hospitals will have Dermoplast (you might just have to ask your nurse for it post-delivery), a peri bottle (it isn’t at an angle like the Frida bottle, but it works perfectly fine!), stretchy postpartum underwear, and large thick pads. Take advantage of everything they have at the hospital and take extras home with you. You’ll just want some lighter pads at home for when the bleeding lessens. Congratulations!!! 🥰

    • @macdingle
      @macdingle  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Absolutely! We'll be bringing an extra empty bag for anything they let us take home at the hospital! I've just heard it's nice to have one of each of the important things on hand just in case and we can always get more 💕

    Something no one talks about is vitamin D drops for breastfed infants, they need it to absorb calcium and phosphorus, and breast milk is found to be lacking vitamin D. Your pediatrician will probably mention it

    This is good timing!!! I’m rounding out my registry too. I was blessed to have a few friends and family who’ve recently had baby’s so I’m getting a lot of great hand me downs. My biggest item is the stroller. I wan to splurge there and the kekaroo.
    One tip on the breast pump thing… most insurance plans will pay for or towards a pump so check with them. There are a lot in the market, but hospitals usually have the best/most powerful pumps and they rent them too… learned a lot from my sister! Happy shopping!

    Three kids, so I’m going to list three of my holy grail items! Could not live without these -
    -uppababy vista or Cruz. I’ve pushed so many strollers and this one is the best, hands down
    -Beco Gemini carrier. Easy to put on yourself with the crossing straps, and one of the few structured carriers that you can use with a newborn without an annoying insert
    -Miku monitor. A must with my nicu baby, really decreased my anxiety since it tracks breathing

    Love these types of videos and so happy for you! I just had my first baby in Feb and did sooo much research, now have some firsthand experience. My #1 item is probably the Baby Bjorn Bouncer - we have two and use them allll the time, basically as a chair for baby. The other products I LOVE are: Uppababy Vista stroller, Keekaroo changing pad, Newton crib mattress, Zipadee zip sleep sacks, our glider chair, and the Frida peri bottle. You have so many on your list, that’s awesome! I’d highly recommend looking into sleep sacks for your registry - they’re expensive and super necessary after they move out of the swaddle. Get the Spectra breast pump 1000%, it universally works really well. Don’t get a bassinet, I got a Halo and honestly didn’t love it and neither did my baby - would have gotten a nicer pack and play in retrospect and used that until we were ready for the crib. Finally, some items that I thought were overrated: nursing pillow (I liked using regular pillows better), silverettes & nipple cream (didn’t have much nipple pain), disposable underwear (preferred pads), “padsicle” supplies (you can get it all at the hospital), baby carriers (I’m not a big baby wearer tbh), snuggle me lounger (baby hated it, overpriced and can only use it for a few weeks), haakaa & breast pads (never leaked once and collect nothing despite 6 mo of EBF). Sorry this is so long I just have opinions!!!

    My kids were all born early 2000s but the boppy pillow was something I could not live without. It also comes in handy when baby is starting to sit up you can put it around, behind them so that their head hits the pillow if they fall backward rather than head hitting the floor. Congrats! Our little boy is 8 months, but my favorite thing was his bassinet We got the Milliard bedside and it was the perfect bedside sleeper. He was able to fit in it even at 6 months when we decided to move him to his nursery. It came with a travel bag and was quick to assemble when traveling. Also the Merlin is the best swaddle transition so worth the price!

    You’ve made some great choices! I personally didn’t love the electric nail file but prefer Simba baby safety scissors, then the Frida nail clippers when they’re older (6m). It’s nice to have a few options!

  • @jemsjemski533
    @jemsjemski533 Před 11 měsíci +1

    LOVE, LOVE AND SOME MORE LOVE!! After 2 children, whilst it’s fun to buy for babies… there’s a reason that wartime mums popped babies in drawers to sleep… you really don’t need much, for example I never had a change table, just a padded change mat x 2 (one upstairs and one downstairs) If I was to choose anything it is the sensory toys that help development… don’t be quick to buy EVERYTHING you think you need before the baby is born… get them if and when you need!
    Oh and a baby medicine box. Calpol, snot sucker! Nappy rash cream, sudocream, baby nail clippers… we got bought one as a present and it was a life saver in the middle of the night to have a go to baby medicine box! Xx

  • @thespencers8802
    @thespencers8802 Před 11 měsíci

    This looks like a great registry! I also did the Lovevery mat and play kits, it’s the best money I’ve spent because of the quality of the toys and not having to do my own research of what they should be playing with at that particular developmental stage. I would recommend having a breast pump on hand just in case. Depending on your insurance, they may cover the entire cost. I have the Spectra and I like it. I would also consider getting a milk catcher that fits in your bra. I believe that the Hakka brand has one and there is one from Elvie. All of my mama friends loved the Hakka but my baby would bump it or I would accidentally tip it over. I’ve loved the convenience of the in-bra feature my second time around. So excited for you and Jack!

    Writing this before watching the video, so it may be something you’ve thought of, but as a foster mom my favorite baby item purchase is a $20 electric nail file from Amazon. For reals. I hate clipping baby nails. It’s traumatic for mom and baby. Babies giggle when I use the electric file and it’s super gentle, and works so well. I will be gifting this item to every mom I know from now until the end of time.

    Don’t forget about the toddler stage! People get so focused on the first few months, most stuff on registries gets used for a few months tops. Think of indoor play sets, play couches and toys for bigger kids. They tend to be bigger ticket items and can be used for many years in most cases!

    We had one of the original pack n plays from 4 moms and it had the bassinet and changing station attachment as well. We used it all the time in our bedroom! It’s where baby slept every night for the first 2 months. After that, we started doing the first long sleep of the night in the crib/nursery and then would bring her into the bassinet after her first wake/feed of the night and she’d stay with us until morning. Once she finally outgrew the bassinet, we transitioned fully to the crib. Highly recommend this kind of setup!

    Yayyy! I was hoping you would make this video.
    I ordered the Baby Björn bouncer but ended up returning it because I was really disappointed with the quality. Ordered the Ergobaby one instead and loveeee it!
    Wanted the Newton mattress too but they sadly don’t ship to France/aren’t really in Europe yet.
    I’m obsessed with the bbhugme nursing pillow that I’m using right now as a maternity pillow too. The regular maternity pillow is soooo huge and I was a bit hesitant to get one.
    Went for the Nuna Mixx stroller and it’s sooooo lovely feeling and strong… maybe not the most travel friendly but I think it’s going to be amazing for every day use.
    I also told people ‘no clothes or blankets please’ for the baby shower, as I have definitely gotten enough of those by myself already 😅

    Something that lays flat but also sits up that they are secure in, they can lay in it while you’re sitting on the sofa, getting housework done, pumping milk, having a shower or cooking, LIFE SAVER! My daughter would use the sides to pull herself up and be able to sit up and fall back down laying safely, it taught her how to sit unaided without me having to catch her or worry all the time she’d laugh doing it, mine had lights that alternate she’d stare at for 0-9 months, had hooks to hang toys for when she learned how to grab things, it can rock and vibrate, it sings songs, honestly it grew with her absolutely my favourite baby item! ❤ I’m in uk but I just searched 3 in 1 baby rocker napper it was called and only £75!

    Hi! Can’t tell you how happy I am for you guys. So excited for you all:)
    If I have any advice for you about breastfeeding and pumping if you do decide to pump, it would be to please see a lactation specialist right away to make sure your latch is good and strong and that you’re using the correct flange size for the pump. I am so sad that my breastfeeding journey came to an end at 2.5 months. I encountered so many issues but didn’t have the knowledge that I have now. So make sure to take care of yourself and baby getting all your questions answered no matter how silly they may sound.
    Btw you have some great products on your registry! I have a lot of those things and love them!

    A good travel stroller ended up being really key especially as my daughter got a little older. This is the stroller I always keep in the car just in case, and I actually find myself reaching for it more than my Cybex just because it’s so lightweight and easy to fold. It’s also been amazing for flights and road trips when the car is tight on space.

    I highly recommend adding a portable fan (with flexible tripod legs) to your registry! Being able to attach it to your hospital bed rail and aim it at you wherever you need it is so handy, especially for the postpartum sweats. You can then use is afterwards on your car seat handle or stroller. Trust me, you'll appreciate having it.
    As for the basinette situation, I went with a play pen with the basinette attachment for next to the bed and didn't buy anything else. If your little one is used to sleeping in it, and you intend to bring it with you when you travel, it'll save you a lot of hassle getting your baby to sleep in an unfamiliar place.
    Wishing you a smooth delivery! Congratulations on your hard earned miracle.

    My daughter is also an IVF mom who is 37 and had her baby in June. She bought all the breastfeeding supplies and had a problem with getting her milk. Also the found out that some IVF Moms have problems with breastfeeding. Due to maybe age, hormones from IVF or getting her milk to come in. She tired for about 3 weeks, pumping and having the baby try to latch. She never got but a teaspoon of milk. She is now bottle feeding and baby is doing great. She had to return all breastfeeding items. Maybe don’t buy too much in the beginning. I wish you and Jack good luck with your breastfeeding Journey. Love your vlogs.❤️❤

    For post partum I found the frida mom witch hazel cool liners (their version of tucks) worked wayyy better than tucks because Frida moms are designed and shaped in a rectangle to fit in your underwear where as the tucks brand is circles and every time I would use the restroom the tucks ones would fall out onto the floor. Also, the Frida padcicles I found to be extremely painful when sitting down because they are so hard. So I ended up just using the dermaplast and Frida cooling wipes and then pads and the diaper underwear you mentioned :).

    Also switched from a pack n play for newborn to a bassinet with our second. We had a big bedroom at that house, but the pack and play felt too crowded to me….then again, I was also a new mom and not used to so much extra stuff in my house 🤣 anyway, just thought I’d share for what it’s worth!! For bottles I definitely recommend Dr. Browns wide neck bottles! The wider nipple base helps them get a nice wide latch and is good for a baby doing both bottle and breast. We desperately wanted to love the Avent bottles but they gave Vivi so much gas 😖
    As for breast feeding supplies definitely have a good pump on hand that doesn’t require you to be attached to the wall. I have a motif Luna w/battery and I love it, definitely super useful now that I’m exclusively pumping (definitely bittersweet but you gotta do what you gotta do to make sure your baby is fed 🥺)
    For milk catchers I loved the boon trove silicone “manual pump” over the haaka. Basically the equivalent of the haaka ladybug, it fits in your nursing bra and is discreet plus baby can’t kick it off! Can’t recommend it enough.
    Our sleeping situation is definitely not ideal, but we cosleep. It’s literally the only way we were able to get any semblance of sleep. The first week we were literally up every hour with her until we figured out she just needed to be close to us and feel like she’s being held, and she absolutely hated being swaddled 😂. We have a king sized bed so we put her in her snuggle me right in-between both of us, and she literally started giving us 4-5 hour stretches.
    My holy grail is the Dr. Browns happy paci, we tried them all and that’s what she ended up loving plus it was also recommended for a breastfed baby by our IBCLC!
    Don’t forget to add a diaper caddy and changing mat to your registry too! You do so many diaper changes those first few weeks. We honestly changed her everywhere but her table during the newborn stage!
    There’s a lot I’m probably forgetting but the most important thing is don’t worry about it too much! You’ll learn as you go and honestly you don’t need nearly as much stuff as you think you do 😊

    I am an old time Mama and both my kids are in their 20s but I can say a friend of mine that is my daughter's age absolutely loved the haakaa breast pump. As for my recommendations I would recommend maybe picking up a pacifier of a few different styles so if your baby does like a pacifier you have it when you need it. Also, some insurance companies will cover certain breast pumps so maybe check with your insurance. If you watch the Wads youtube channel at all she absolutely loves the Frida supplies for both Mama and baby (she has 5 children). I do think she has a baby/kid Pinterest and Amazon links. And lastly, I was never without gas drops (and now probiotic drops, which weren't available when my kids were babies). I hope some of that helps.

    Must have - baby carrier of some sort. It helps so much when baby is small and you need to get stuff done around the house. As for the bassinet, we ended up borrowing one from a friend (the Halo Bassinest I think it's called) but honestly we just used the pack n play with bassinet insert when we went on trips and it worked just as well.
    Did you check with your insurance on the breast pump? You should get one for free from them. Some will give you a credit of some sort where you can order your own. My insurance was different where they only covered one type of breast pump, so that's the one I went with.

    Another option for bottles is silicone. I have also been thinking about bottle materials and my husband, who is very into materials, has gently (and not so gently) told me that I am overreacting to plastics as truly not all plastics are the same. I both know he's right, but its hard to quiet down the fear mongering around endocrine disruptors. As this stage, we are striking a balance of me being more paranoid than is maybe scientifically supported, but also opting for non plastic options where there will be hot food or liquids (trying to be practical).
    Silicone is technically a type of plastic but is also very very different than the plastics causing many of the concerns and is what I am considering for bottles. Also, unless the glass bottles are also accompanyied by rubber nipples (which some of them are), the nipples are likely silicone.
    Anyway it's a complicated path to navigate and you have to just go with is practical for you and allows you to feel comfortable.

      I didn't even think of or have seen silicone bottles but this is genius! We try for a mix of glass and silicone in our kitchen where we can and that would be a great alternative if we need a lighter bottle option! 💕

    Oh most health insurances will cover your breast pump for free if you go with medical grade breast pump. I loved the spectra. I found the haaka to be extremely painful. As an alternative that does the same thing is the Elvie. The type of silicone was much more delicate for the sensitive skin in that area. The haaka pinched me and the Elvie did not.

      Oh yes, for sure going through insurance for the pump! I'll keep the Elvie in mind if the Haakaa doesn't work out for me! 💕

    Haaka is a breast pump essentially ..there is a suction componet and it always hurt me to use not matter how i did it.
