- Hey Horse Lovers! Belle is getting back into shape and getting into an exercise routine! In today's video I am going to show you my FULL TRAINING SESSION with Belle plus her gorgeous foal Esmeralda. Ezzy will join in on the fun and she will be at liberty during our session, wait till you see her shenanigans. BUT THE BIG PART OF THIS SESSION is that I will be tacking up Belle for the first time ever. The question is how will Belle respond to a pad, saddle, girth, and bridle??? Will Ezzy cause chaos?! For more back story information: in February, I purchased Belle from an auction and well... we discovered she was pregnant about 4 weeks later following a wellness exam and quarantine! We were completely shocked but also very happy. This will be our first foal ever born at Free Spirit Farm. Here is a little background information: Belle is a 7-year-old Dapple Grey, Draft who is just under 16.2hh. On 6/16/23 Belle gave birth to her MYSTERY FOAL at 1:15AM!!! We were so excited and overjoyed upon the foal's arrival! Belle had a beautiful filly and we decided to name her Esmeralda. Ezzy is bold, intelligent, kind, willing, and independent. We absolutely adore her and Belle! In this video you will get to see the foal training I have done with Esmeralda thus far. I believe in a calm, gentle, natural approach in regard to training horses (and foals). Watch to see how baby Ezzy does during her session today! I love that horsepeople are going over to using bitless bridles more and more. When I learned to ride, horses were still "broken in" and often had sores around their mouths. I'm so happy to see respect your animals and treat them so well. Thank you.
I agree! I wish that shows would allow them. Horses are so much happier without that harsh metal in their mouth!

I have to say my old mare probably would ignore a bridle w/out a bit! Stubborn, but I loved her!!
She had been a roping horse out of Wyoming. She did barrels very well & could stop on a dime & turn so she had some really cool skills.. if she was in the mood to use them!
If she didn't like you while riding she'd stop fast & put her head down.. She did that w/me while bareback & found I stayed on..
I’m a horse girl and I love Bitless bridles but when I do ride with a bit I use a rubber bit with apple flavor my horse loves it both ways

Yes but I’ve had several horses and they can have trust in you but generally when you put a saddle on the first time there is almost always a flinch or a step away. I believe she’s been saddled before.

@@emilydoesit8383I agree. I absolutely think she has been ridden before. I grew up with horses and Belle has a bit of experience. I do agree that she also totally has trust with Shea and Kyle.
Somehow she knows she is a saddle horse, she seems to know what is expected of her and she is on her best behavior, determined to make you proud! I don’t think I’m anthropomorphizing! This is what I see.
That is absolutely amazing how both of them were so calm with the saddle. Ezzy is an amazing little horse.

The moment when Ezzy jumped the rope, really nice jump! and also when you let go of the rope how only a few steps after Belle stopped and turned in to face you- I was in awe "look how the training is paying off, she is so smart!"
Then of course how chill and amazing Belle was with the Saddle and Bridle and Ezzy's development on the Halter and how chill she was with the "blanket". Amazing!

Your horses are so beautiful. Belle is so chill with what you do with her so far, even with Ezzy getting in the middle so she can feel part of what was happening. Belle is wonderful with everything!
I loved how, once you put the halter on Ezzy, she got this look in her eye like “okay, now it is time for me to be serious”. She didn’t seem scared or uncomfortable at all, it just seemed as if she was like a kid who goes wild at recess, but then settles down to do the “hard” work once they sit at their desk. You have done a great job with them both, ensuring that they are never scared of things-just appropriately curious and careful.
When you took off Belle’s bridle, and you stood holding your saddle letting her see what was on her back, your bond with Belle was so strong and loving, I could feel it here in Oregon. Then, you put your pad on Ezzy’s back, I could sense Ezzy was thinking, “I’m just like Mom.” She was proud. This was such a loving video. Thank you. ❤️
I love this video. Belle and Esmeralda are so gorgeous! I love that you are taking your time with them and letting them do things at a comfortable pace. The relationships you have with your horses is amazing to watch. 💜🐎

It's wonderful to watch you with your horses and how you take care of them so well.
Both Belle and her foal are so gorgeous and sweet. You are a lucky one to have both. Thank you for showing kindness as you do. My grandaughter started riding when she was three, training still today and she is soon to be 12. She has competed at "the world equestrian center" in Ocala, Fl. She is doing very well and we are so proud. Thank you also for sharing these two amazing animals.

If something, the calm reactions of your horses tell how safe and comfortable they feel in their surroundings. Even Ezzie playing around shows that she has no worries. Learning is easy when you don't have to be afraid or unsure.
I've not trained horses but I've trained multiple feral cats and it's funny how similar the techniques are in the end; give them time and praises, keep them comfortable and build up their trust. Be sensitive to their emotions and needs. It's always beautiful to see.
Good training always starts with knowledge of your animal, love and trust. Well done! 👏❤️

Also, I love what you're doing with Ezzie! She is so incredibly curious and confident and smart! Despite her spunk and energy, she's really well-behaved! Belle's skill and experience as a mother and your skill as a trainer (despite never having a foal before!) are really on display here! Thank you! Everyone keeps saying how she’s already been ridden etc but they don’t remember her in the beginning. She was so nervous at first and her overall energy has shifted.
They both are doing so well, Essy is so curious, makes them easier to train.

They are a beautiful pair and Belle has grown in her trust and feeling secure with you, Shae. Belle did tremendously with the tack and on the lunge line etc showing she has a great bond with you. Ezzy is a real character and saying, I'm the baby, play with me my 2 mammas. I love how happy they are and comfortable that Ezzy's antics don't phase Belle. ❤❤❤

Great progress with both Belle and Ezzy. Takes time and patience but soo worth it in the long run. Many are in a hurry especially in the early stages but like anything else a good solid foundation is what pays off.
Belle's attitude surely helps any stresses very low and a great example for Ezzy. You're such a help to others with your channel!

Idk, she used to be very nervous at the block. But I’ve worked through it.
She may never have seen a block before. I never used one with my horses even as a kid.
@@toscadonna Its bad for her backs if u dont٫ it can injure them as ur putting weight into on side of the saddle and pulling down u may not realize it but but can hurt ^*promise not hate*^
