The First Heir is attempting to raise Enkanomiya | Teyvat's Creation EXPLAINED Genshin Impact Theory

  • In this Genshin Impact Theory I explore the scene just after completing Genshin Impact's Mondstadt Archon questline which to me has seemed… obscure… or forgotten… left largely unexplored or maybe even ignored by many despite what appears to be the statement of one of our siblings primary objectives. That being The return of her homeland. We've now had 18 months of context clues which have painted that scene, AND the Gnostic Chorus in a totally different light.
    #Enkanomiya #Byakuyakoku #TheGnosticChorus #Aether&Lumine
This is a two part theory, the 2nd part is currently in production. Link will be provided upon completion below:

The cut scene for the 'Gnostic Chorus' does not change if one is playing Lumine as the MC. The first heir is still the girl and the second is the boy. Because of that there are theories that the heirs are not our twins. Granted, it could be an oversight, but this company pays so much attention to details that it seems unlikely.

Im always curious about the contradictions of the missing sibling's character from what he/she said when he/she wakes up the traveler 500 years ago and when they meet in the "we will be reunited" quest. The sibling was so eager to wage war against "destiny" in the quest but when the sibling wakes the traveler, the first thing he/she said is that they should leave Teyvat.
In the quest, it sound like the sibling is so concerned about khaenriah, like he/she has connection to it, which is also kinda weird given that the twins are "aliens" to this world and shouldn't have any concerns to it AND it shows when the sibling said that "they should leave" back in 500 years ago.

Maybe we are travelling between the nations and making friends whith some of the people of those nations, just to, at the end of the "Teyvat chapter", we could witness some kind of "second cataclism", the distruction of the countries and the death of some of our friends. This would very well fit into the writing style of the company, the lots of forshadowing and the significance of lost nations and civilizations, abandoned ruins and the cataclism -like events.

I loved the initial analysis about the Primordial one and the shades, and the parallels to greek mythology, among other things. But I can't agree that the siblings in the BP trailer are the twins for these reasons (and the first 2 might be dismissed as embellishment of the story like you said, but the last can't):
    - In the BP cutscene, is stated that the first heir was the girl, but we know by the Chinese and Japanese version that Aether is older, so he should have been the first heir
    - in the BP, the corrupted heir becomes a Queen, while in the game Lumine is referred as a Princess by the Abyss Order
    - while in the trailers, Mihoyo always picks Aether as the MC and Lumine as the Abyss Twin for consistency, within the game the cutscenes vary depending on who the player picked, yet the BP cutscene doesn't.
That said, good video. A lot of this will probably still apply to whoever ends up being featured in the BP

3:00 Tartarus is the Greek equivalent of hell , not Hades . Hades is where almost all the dead go (unless the person in question is promoted to godhood upon death like Heracles , they cannot ascend to olympus. Hades does include tormenting the dead who wronged the gods , like Theseus and Pirithus or Tantalus ,Sisyphus , etc , but it's not only a place of torment , there's also just dead people hanging out with no hellfire ) I think this also makes sense from a world building perspective , since celestia can only be reached by those who are promoted to godhood

    • @Zarozian
      @Zarozian Před 2 lety +17

The kingdom of Hades was the place of the dead, Tartarus was where ferocious monsters and horrible criminals were banished, or where the gods imprisoned their rivals after a war. Tartarus is beneath Hades.

    • @Zarozian
      @Zarozian Před 2 lety +19

Actually, let me go further into detail.
Hades is the gloomy, misty realm of the Underworld where the majority of souls were believed to go after death - those were neither heroic nor blasphemous and wicked. It is quiet and dim, mostly rock, shadow and mist, though asphodel flowers are quite common. Within Hades were the Asphodel Fields, likely comprising the region where those who were initiated into Persephone’s Eleusinian Mysteries resided when they died.
Tartarus, on the other hand, is the deepest recess of the Underworld, formed by the primordial of the same name. Tartarus was envisioned as a stormy realm rather than fiery (except for where the River Phlegethon flowed). It housed the wicked and blasphemous souls who had offended the gods, committed blood crimes etc. The Tartarean Pit is the deepest level of Tartarus and is the gaol of the Titans and other monsters imprisoned by the gods, guarded by the Hecatonchires. It is a pit assailed by storms, and all the rivers of the Underworld eventually empty into the pit.

Hmm alright. So the Sunchildren happened after the Byakoku fell into the abyss and became Enkanomiya so they wouldn't have clothing like what they once had on the surface since they didn't even have fire until after the last generation who remembers the sun died off and they didn't have the tower of light until way after that. So there is no way the Sunchild would recognize the clothing.
Also, I don't believe Enkanomiya/Byakoku is their homeland, but rather a civilization created while their homeland was still present in Teyvat, perhaps the First Throne. We don't really know what happened to the First Throne though and whether or not it sank below Teyvat or if it was banished from Teyvat by the Second Throne Celestia. As for Enkanomiya, I think it's just a smaller piece of a larger nation rather than the actual/literal homeland of Aether and Lumine.

Wouldn't this mean that there's a larger and more grander conflict happening between the First and Second Throne if the First and Second refers to different civilizations? Also important is that the Gnostic chorus is based on an actual text from Gnosticism called the Hymn of the Pearl. Based on the way the Chorus is narrated, I think that the events described it in is purely metaphorical (heirs as twins, kingdom of darkness being Khaenriah/Teyvat, etc) and not a direct order of things that actually happened

I love your work, TH, but there are some holes and inconsistencies with this theory that need to be addressed. There are many points against the Abyss sibling being the first heir. For one, the Gnostic Chorus refers to the first heir as a queen, not a princess. Second, having in mind that Aether may the Abyss sibling introduces issues. The Gnostic Chorus is the same regardless of the sibling you choose as is the story of Princess Mina. It would have also made more sense for Dainsleif to use a neutral “they” in the Travail trailer.

I don't think that the twins are the ones from the vattlepass trailer
    1. Aether does not mention anything about being a prince that could be just him hiding stuff but his personality also doesn't match the image of a prince
    2. If the twins are the heirs of the now fallen Kingdom then that would mean they haven't really left the world of teyvat at all, which contrast with the lore that twins have travelled through multiple worlds and that their homeland was destroyed and many worlds that they went to. Also Aether mentions that the world they belong to has sky that's more greenish in color when he sees venti
    3. From th vattlepass cutscene we know that the second heir left after the first was lost but, we know that the twins haf been together until the Sustainer seperated them as they were leaving teyvat
    4. The twin's arrival and attempt at leaving the world would also break from their goal of finding the Genesis pearl suggesting that they're from other world
5.uf they were supposed to be on this mission to find the Genesis pearl then how come only lumine k ow of the mission while Aether has no idea about it
6.uts not just lumine both twins refer to themselves as outlanders from another world
I think rhe lines from both Dain and the first heir ( hypothetically lumine) about fadding memories might suggest that both gave been affected by some sorta erosion just like the Archons

It's tough to make a theory that Traveler = 1st heir for all the reasons known since v1.0, but the Dainsleif quest added more reasons (Sibling does not appear to have memory loss) and so did Inazuma's recent quest (Miko says Traveler has no ambition which appears to rule out being sent on a mission or seeking any pearl) and legends from Enkanomiya (Primordial One is now best candidate for the king in the Gnostic Chorus cut scene making the heirs shades). The line by the Abyss mage seems more likely to be talking about Khaenri'ah since we know that's where the Abyss Order all comes from and Sibling is a prince of the Order, therefore perhaps of Khaenri'ah. But the biggest problem with the theory here is that it means the Traveler isn't fundamentally Traveling anywhere and Teyvat is their homeworld. We have lore saying their homeworld was destroyed (that sword free with PS5 was it?) I can see it would be neat to have Celestia=2nd throne => thrones are floating islands => 1st throne was, and Enkanomiya used to fly => Enka is 1st throne but 1st throne is much earlier than humans created. You might almost as well go whole hog and say the twins are shades. I don't see how this theory helps address any of the well known problems with identifying Twins as the heirs.

And I also think that humans also originated from another world and were brought over by Phanes. Because the first emergence of humans in Teyvat is called the 'Opening of the Ark' and an Ark is commonly referred to as a vehicle to preserve something from extinction.
So we might assume that humans had to leave their previous world and seek out another home. And Phanes was the one sent out to find a suitable place and prepare it.
After all, it was stated that Phanes' main drive was to see humanity prosper.

I am onboard with this theory except one portion: the assumption that Lumine *is* the first heir. Unless otherwise retracted by Hoyoverse that both Aether and Lumine are canon MC, any key visuals and references changes depending on the player’s selected MC. However, the Gnostic Chorus shows that the first heir is female and second heir is male regardless of chosen MC.
Considering the fact spirits in Teyvat could split and potentially manifest themselves independently, or possess another character, I’d like to think that there is a possibility that the Sibling was possessed by a portion of the first heir’s spirit, the other portions could be materialized as Paimon. Or since Genshin also likes playing with the rule of threes, perhaps Aether, Lumine, and Paimon are shades of the heir.

Aether and Lumines grandparents were the king and queen of khanre'ah and then they felt it became dangerous for their child/children or the parents of Lumi and Aether to live there in teyvat. So they sent them to travel to another world, which can explain why the siblings can do that, being able to travel between time and space not aging. That means Dain could see their grandparents in them, and then he senses the familiarity of their past family etc. That means that the flower that was shown in the trailer and the flower that Lumi has was passed down from generation. But there's also kaeya being the prince of khanre'ah, you may ask how that works. Kaeya and the traveller are most likely from different time lines, khanre'ah is most likely over 500 years old and because the "Former" king and queen had no more descendants they would need a new royal family, either someone with a lot of power or a blood relative, and that's where kaeyas mother comes inn, the characters in this game most likely get their appearance from the parent of the same gender, diluc resembles his father and Ayaka and her mother. There's a high chance that Kaeya took after his father, and so that means the mother could have the same blond hair as the twins. And because his mother was a royal that means his family was noble and could become the new royal family. Of course, if you don't believe me then I do not see how that is my problem, and I would not send this if I had no proof. ^^ This is just a theory anyway, and I found out this theory while resinless so I might be wrong and I might be correct, we are still in the early game so we just need to wait to know the real answer.

I believe after Venti woke up and saw how things had changed for the worse in Teyvat, he called upon the Travelers using Istaroth’s power. That’s been my theory since I read the sundials/astrolabes in Mondstadt forever ago. He prob teamed up with all the other archons to give up their gnoses to the Tsaritsa to take down Celestia together but wanted to make it seem like it wasn’t on purpose as to not alert the Heavenly Principles.

The first civilization that first throne established was one unified culture.vso think one language, one religion, and one belief.
Now the sustainer was very clear on her despise of "human" arragonce. And was addressing the twin as "outlanders"..
We already learn from the new lore that all human are outlanders. So now the sustainer speech align with this theory.
Sustainer refer to the twin as outlanders, as she refer to all human. Not because these two are exactly from outside Tyvat.
This imply that the sustainer doesn't consider herself an outlander, even though both first thrones and second thones are outlanders.. does that mean the sustainer pre date the first thrones?
Or perhaps she belongs to first thrones, but the Primodial one just brought humans from another world and established them in Tyvat, and the sustainer is just a force of the ley lines and well aware of that, and she's a force of balance that prevent the world from destruction if humans overstep their mortal authority? So she's not exactly with the first thrones, or second throne, but just a watcher over humanity?

Something you missed that might hurt this theory, there was some dialogue in the world quests that talked about Enkanomiya being Khaenri'ahan, but being isolated for so long they developed their own culture. One npc is also surprised to see MC because they didn't think there was a way down to Enkanomiya, which would mean the only time anyone left Enkanomiya would have been after Watatsumi had been established. Thus the traveller couldn't have been from there. Unless they left before the fall I suppose, but I'm thinking the timeline of events might not line up unless Aether and Lumine are ageless.

Given how you essentially recapped the Theogany of Greek Mythology and compared it to the history of Teyvat, I'm surprised that you never mentioned a certain lesser known branch of the divine family tree. While Chaos, Gaia, Tartarus, and Eros seem to have come relatively independently of one another, Chaos is recorded as having two direct children: Erebus (Darkness) and Nyx (Night). Where things get _really_ fun is Erebus and Nyx's children (please forgive the divine incest); _Aether_ and his _twin sister_ Hemera (Day).
Including this into the Teyvat side, you basically get Aether and Lumine being about as old if not a little older than Teyvat itself. Before Celestia ever existed, and _long_ before the Archons. At the same time, this would be around the formation of the original Byakuyakoku, which is convenient since that's what was proposed as where they'd be from. Given that Lumine's name comes from the Latin word for light, it wouldn't be too surprising if a Greek counterpart had a different name.

Going along with this video's claims that they are from this plane of existence, I have doubts that Orphic mythology would be the path to go and think Hesiod's interpretation is more likely. Why? Because Hesiod's Theogany has Aether with a twin sister, while the Orphic telling has Aether with two brothers. Aether and his twin sister -Lumine- *Hemera* were the children of Erebus and Nyx, who were also Chaos's direct children. This puts our two protagonists _absurdly early_ in this video's version of Teyvat's history, but also from right around the time of the original Byakuyakoku, where the video claims they were originally from.

Here's a theory why both twins are still considered canonical choices from HoYoverse for Genshin's story. Time can be changed if you plant a new "seed" or reality into the past. Lumine was the first to walk this path but what if Aether interceded in her fate.... This is why Aether seems so sad when Lumine finds him and Dani in the story quest. While Lumine is Angry with Danis' and demands Aether to seek the truth of this world. But even if Aether intercedes to save Lumin he still failed to save his lands and Teyvat despite his hope to change things, He simply replaced Lumin's role in history. That's why Dani also refers to Aether as his travelling companion in the quest if you pick Lumine as the sleeping twin we play as and doesn't have any history with Lumine that Dani can remember. When as the player we meet for the first time he scrutinizes both Twins the same way. And Why Aether needs Lumine to learn the truth of this world has her history has been erased but not forgotten.
The echoes of a past timelines are still captured by Tayvets leylines and these stories of old are still passed down, the way the Sacred Sakura in Inazuma was born from Ei intervention and plated into the past, but Also existed since before time in immemorial to all others that never bore witness to its creation. The leylines remember both the trees existence and none existence.
I finally have a reason the believe the Gnostic Chorus is about our twins. And Venti as a child of wind and time knows the original story regardless of reality is taken by our twin choice. Because Both twins know this story. HoYo has been very consistent with the generating of the twin when speaking about them EXCEPT when it comes to the Gnostic Chorus in-game. But this history/story is always true no matter the path as players take.
The laws of the "HoYoverse" are coming into play that have been outlined in Honkai Impact. Again you don't have to know Honkai story the same way you don't have to watch all the MCU movies and media to know that all the movies share the same universe and rules in it. But they share this connective tissue. It's fitting they rebranded with this chapter in Genshin. Hu Tao story quest also hinted at this shared universe's rules as well. 😉

First off. Both travelers Ather and Lumine are Gods or Higher beings from another world. They dont have a connection to Teyvat or the abyss or any of the ancient civilizations when they arrive. The abyss sibling (I will use Lumine) has woken up first when they came to Teyvat. They start exploring the world and just let their sibling sleep (the MC). As they do they discover Kanreah and become a part of this semi ancient civilization that is situated somewhere in the abyss now but we dont know where it was before exactly. They become royalty to Kanreah and watch the civilization progeress. This nation becomes highly scientific and doesnt have need of gods. Do note that by the time Kanreah exists Celestia has been the ruler for quite a while and during Kanreahs life the archon war happens (I might be wrong with the exacts but thats why there are lore channels). Then before the people of Enkanomiya come back to the surface with the help of the serpent god Orobaxi (who fled from the archon war) agents of Kanreah try to get their hands on the forbidden book of Before Sun and Moon (the knowledge of this book cost Orobaxi his life by the hands of the Raiden shogun who was "used" as an executioner by Celestia after a deal with Orobaxi). Later in an event that happend 500 years ago compared to the present Kanreah was "attacked" by Celestia for offenses against "The Heavenly Principles". Kanreah is destroyed and the abyss twin wakes the sleeping one and tells them that they need to flee from this world (the MC doesnt know at the time that they have been asleep for soo long). They get stopped at the door or exit from this world by the "Unknown God" aka "The Sustainer of The Heavenly Principles". Both of the siblings get captured but seperatly probably causing some sort of time delay and unknown side effects. The main character has their powers sealed and the abyss twin creates or at least commands the new Abyss Order that formed form the transformed survivors of Kanreah. This is where we are today. For clearer details or proper explanation check out some lore channels. (Im sorry for this long comment but the theory is bleeding from too many wounds. There are some interesting parts that could be true but as it is now its not gonna stand. Please dont see this as hate but as criticism. And sorry for my english)

A theory I had about the gnostic chorus after 2.4, during the lantern rite zhong li points out how stories can be changed overtime, it made me think maybe the gnostic chorus may changed overtime as it was passed and became something different when venti got the story.
The theory I had would point that a part of the gnostic chorus is the tale of twins and their journey.
The tale would be told to dain from the sibling long ago telling him that he/she is looking for their lost sibling(traveler) and through their journey the sibling would tell him of their past somewhat and how they were told to leave their home. At some point the twins thought, maybe they can save their home with a power. Their story mentions their world "ruined" not destroyed, they may have had wishes it to be true, so they can go back
The gnostic chorus mentioning the first heir inside the throne room area would be both the twins, not only one. When we see the heir at the mountain this symbolizes the sibling on their journey in the past.
After the sibling sides with the abyss and leaving dain. He begins to tell of story of his friend(The sibling), but it would be changed to keep his friends privacy out of respect, even though their "enemies". The part with the pearl and the serpent, would be the siblings goal the power to save their home but the serpent corrupting that would be the abyss. Corrupting sibling's original goal, the story being redone may be a warning from dain to others who hear it, not to follow in the heir(The siblings) path. The sibling being changed on the throne after the corrupting before the second is seen, Would be the sibling being corrupted and being made their leader.
The second heir would be the traveler, dain may have ended it the way he did out of hope for the traveler to save their sibling from the abyss.
That's the theory I had, after 2.4, had to bring it up and see what people would think

What if...now this is just a theory. Istaroth was lumine. So Ashikai did this theory about the artifacts and came to conclusions that there are two god of time. And during ei’s quest they mentioned that Makoto got help from Istaroth and both were in Khaenri’ah. And Paimon said/questioned, while talking to Ei and Miko, that her and the traveler were destined to be at the exact moment when the final battle was going to happen. (That part is still fuzzy whether we went back in time or not). Now here me out.... Lumine said to Aether somewhere along the lines that, they will meet again, w/c can be interpreted as destined to meet.
Sooooooo....what if Lumine was Istaroth who set these events for her brother to see the “truth/forbidden knowledge”. They can time travel essentially by jumping to other worlds.
They could also just be the children of the god of time.

Not likely if you play Lumine as the main character instead of Aether. The lore would have to be more interchangeable between the two to make it likely.

@@Zarozian well yeah but his theory is based on canon events. But since i’m playing on the two gods of time, it would still be interchangeable cause one of would still be bound to be Istaroth

@@Zarozian but also i play Lumine and i’ve seen people play as Aether, it’s the exact same story. Like the game is not changing it based on the character u chose. Because if it was then lumine’s story would be reaching Khaenri’ah and then Aether’s story would be the one we’re playing now

It would be cool if smth like after completing part of the story as Aether, game gives you smth like a new quest in which Aether dies, then Lumine gets to know that and you start to play as Lumine to revive your brother or smth like that....

P.s: remember that thingy where azhdaha said he was the true god or something (i dont remember exactly)? It started making sense with that thing of celestia invading and the vishaps already existing but something bugs me, his dragon form was created by morax, this is what keeps confusing me bc he was like a stone being small elemental stuff.

I have theorized the Second group is the Sky People from Honkai and they crashed Celestia through the barrier on purpose. I believe it crashed and created the Chasm and then was repaired and took its place above the land

I think it's unlikely that the traveller simply went between the kingdom in the heavens and Teyvat. The traveller implies that they've travelled through many world, not just two. If I remember correctly, when first speaking to Timaeus, they will express surprise that alchemy is so openly practiced in Teyvat, stating that in other worlds, it's practice was hidden. They state other worlds instead of the other world.

  • @jaclyncondrey256

When you explained the correlation between Teyvat’s history and Greek Mythology, seems to make a lot of references to Biblical history as well. “As long as they do not subcome to temptation, all will be provided.” That can draw a line to the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Also the word Kairos means “God’s Time”, which can support the theory of Istaroth being the God of Time.
I promise this wasn’t trying to poke holes in your theory, just trying to draw more supporting lines
