Why would you have hidden this creative gem all of these years? It’s very out of the box and so far from the box that perhaps it’s been orbiting Jupiter and finally made its way back home for us to see. Some people are blessed with a wellspring of creativity.
In 2004, this was the gateway song we used to bring people into the fold.
I haven't kept up like I should have, but this masterpiece digging itself out of the grave and affecting fans like it did 20 years ago warms my heart.

Friends and I count ourselves very fortunate to have experienced a handful of Ani DiFranco concerts. Listening to and dancing to Ani's songs made our turbulent lives far less difficult. 🌺
WOW! This seriously made my day. I was a senior in high school and coming into my own when this album came out. This was the soundtrack to my life back then. I see myself in the goofiness and fun had when making this. What a great piece of herstory to relive 25 year later. Thank you for blessing our day with this masterpiece!
It's a surprise everytime!
I first heard about Ani in a super cool loft apartment in a neighbourhood now so gentrified I can barely afford to visit, my friends friend introduced me to this, and my musical life changed in an instant, a couple of years later these CDs spun in my trucks all the Damn time. I’ll never forget one road trip with a great friend and his girlfriend at that time (he’s now gone) and this music among a few others played us through the mountains of western Canada, travelling in time is indeed possible
1998, after staying with an incredible lesbian female band in Knoxville, TN, that I met in Gatlingburg, TN after sipping on some honey lagers at a pub where they performed, when I took a day off of the Appalachian Trail, they invited me to stay a couple days with them, this series of events happened to be my intro to Ani. Well..while staying with them we listened to quite a fair bit of Ani...every album, before returning me to Gatlinburg, I purchased LPC on cassette to listen to while continuing hiking northbound. Fan ever since, she was incredible then and even more now. I was even fortunate to meet and hang out with Ani after a show last year, that's my quarter century with Ani. Btw, she's truly awesome in song, performing, and in person. Thank you for being you Ani, keep creating&smiling!

So many memories. Thanks for sharing the chaos of your big idea. I was in college when this came out. I had ordered the CD, but it hadn't arrived by the time I went to the concert, so a lot of the songs were a surprise to me. I cherish that. When I got home from the concert, the CD was waiting in my mailbox.
I had kind of got into Ani from various soundtracks or scattered cassette tapes in my fiend's girlfriend's cars... so I went to a usenet group to ask what CD of hers I should get first, and most people said "Living in Clip" would be a great sampler across her catalog.. and I played the hell out of those discs until I had to go to the store and pick up her new CD "Little Plastic Castle" the first true CD of hers I ever got..
I remember Ani mentioning this video at the Rochester BC/BS Arena show in '98. It was clear that Ani did not care for it very much. Nevertheless, I am STOKED that we'll get to see it soon.

I love hearing everyone’s story with this song and era of Ani’s music! I was in college and deeply immersed in electronic music at the time. Ani difranco was one of the few artists I listened to at the time that really grounded me with real, earthy, such human music. I’ll always love it! ❤

This is hilarious. I discovered Ani in early 2020 and really related to her new stuff. Discovering the old has been a blast too. She is a songwriter to her toes. I find it odd that her feminist following found it "problematic" that she supported a woman's music festival for their policy of allowing only women who were born as women. 132pm - Under the pains of perjury before all the Angels and 'Our' blessed Lord Jesus I submit this report to You Shawn and John. I haven't even unloaded 'Magic' from shopping yet. I made it to P/T and he put Me right on the bike and all I was thinking about was my leg. So, I was riding thinking about My leg and when I looked up for the first time the time of My ride was 111. I shit You not. Then I'm out in 'Magic' facing the sun thinking about synchronicity and 'prompts' and My bluetooth connection to 'Magic' has been intermittent sometimes taking 10 minutes to connect. So, that was the case as I'm sitting there waiting for WUMB to come through and I decide to pray to God the Father and I ask Him if He can give Me a sign upon request or if I only can receive them at His or Your John and Shawn's pleasure. And I was feeling slight dread at the thought: "OMG what if it all just stopped? No more prompts or synchronicity realizing I have no control over it and how quickly it all could just disappear. So, My prayer is finished and I had asked Him as a sign to make WUMB come on the 11th tap of My foot. No dice. So, I've realized this many times. You can ask for 'signs' and may or may not get them when You want or exactly how You wanted them. I drive off thinking about all this and get over to Walmart where I park facing the sun and WUMB still not on. I get a 'prompt' or thought the following: "try turning the volume down to 33" and when the number hit 33 the radio came on. I shit You not. So, like that's not enough for one day. I do my shopping load 'Magic' and when I start her no connection. I sit and smoke while 'feeling' deep in connection 'with' You both. I can't remember now the things that were passed. It was a trance. I'm always in a trace apparently. So I drive off after this 'session' with My Angel guides. Fretting still about the intermittent connection driving off without music "what might I be missing" etc and when I pull into Irving's for gas I'm thinking about how cool it is that WUMB connects Shawn and I and that it's my alma mater and everything and at the precise instant WUMB appeared in My thought process WUMB came on. I shit You not My beloved Angels. Not done yet. I'm almost home and come to the turn to go over the lake home and there are two cars there from opposite directions. One to My left and one to My right so I come to a complete stop to let them both pass as is My habit so I'm engrossed in this operation. I turn left and when I look at the clock it's 111pm and the lyric on WUMB at that instant was "they can't buy Your soul" a female artist that might have been 'Sunny War' or 'Sonny War'. I need to look it up. Not sure she was the artist but they had been talking about her. So, now I'm home wondering what can happen next and even after all this I wonder still: "what if it stops?"
