I’ve seen fire-proof gun safes that hold 30+ guns, and are as large as a closet go for $1,500 maximum. That watch winder shit is absurd
First, if you are going to put watches in the safe, make it a fireproof safe. Second, a good 26 gun to 33 gun safe is about $3,000 to $5,000. I have a Browning 26 Gun Armored Safe that I bought a few years ago. It was about $3,500 if I remember correctly. Third, every watch winder I have EVER bought, include two from Wolf, ultimately broke. I agree, if you invest $150K into a PP 5270, invest in a $4,000 fireproof safe.
Modern watches use synthetic oil which will never solidify like the old school oil. That's why it really only happens in older watches
I have one :) Daytona! Watch winders unnecessarily…..best for the spring to
Unwind ….Nice video mate 🇺🇸
You guys have been killing it lately!! Love the videos keep up the great work!!
• Winders: Only if it's a perpetual calendar otherwise save wear and tear on your watch. If something isn't right or if something goes wrong while on the winder it will ruin your watch.
• Oils: Alway have modern lubricants used on services of vintage watches.
• Safes: You can get vintage fireproof dual door Mosler safe with drawers for #2k. New premium safes can be $3k - $12k+.
• Daytona: A horse that's been beaten to death.
• Pushers: Depends if it's actually a true 100M chronograph. Normally pump.
That's interesting. My Dad at 68 went for a bike ride and had a major accident. He broke 6 ribs and his clavicle. He says before that, at 68, he thought nothing exciting was going to happen. Then he had the accident and relaized exciting things can still happen. Now hes biking all the time, he's working on various projects, he went to Spain, the North West Territories and wants to travel more, and do more now at 72. Goes to show what a biking accident can do.
Michael and Christian. Great videos...especially recently. Watch all of them. Could you PLEASE do a history and breakdown of the JLC Sector dial of the Master collection. I want one badly but need more info and I can't find much. Prettiest under 10k watch I've ever laid my eyes on.
You two put out my favorite watch content. Love the weeks with two and three video output. Keep them coming.
What happened to the wrist check? Is Christian wearing the duoface day night reverso?
Don’t forget, many of the ADs now give you a wolf watch winder for free when you purchase a watch. I have 5 through watch purchases. I might as well use a few if I have them. But not sure I would buy one separately.
Look at Dr. Dan Cooper from the Carrell Clinic in Dallas. Wears a suit and cowboy hat. Hes my knee doctor and he dresses pretty cool lol
Great content guys!
Watch winders are great if you have multiple automatic watches. It keeps movement lubricated for watches you do not wear frequently.
Also in the UK Watches of Switzerland gave a free Wolf watch winder when you bought a each over £2k, I think. I do not know if they are good or not, but I have no problem with it.
If Money would be like no object, I would get that Winder and put some f91-w in
I bought watch winders and I couldn’t agree more.
1) manual wound watches never need then
2) when you have lots of watches, setting isn’t a big deal
3) I don’t have a perpetual but I have two annual calendars and I definitely use them for those
I find it therapeutic watching them spin 😃
You always bring me a smile on my face and more watch knowledge in my mind. Thanks 🙏
Totally agree on the weight of the watch.. love the feel of a full gold sports Rolex..
watch winders are helpful for those of us who have lots of watches and we try to wear something different each day...
Platinum Daytona would be nice but I like to wear my watches without worrying about my arm getting cut off…
Always enjoy these chats! Thanks…
I agree 💯 the platinum Daytona is actually the boss of watches, I sold my Royal Oak rose gold and don’t miss it because of having the platona, the watch wears better than a 41mm and the weight makes it feel amazing on hit wrist. It feels amazing. Secondly I love how not everyone knows what it is but that one off person will! The blue dial looks amazing with anything you were, black white grey denim etc! I don’t think there’s a better watch out there that looks and feels as good as the platinum Daytona.
Premium Fort Knox gun safes go anywhere from 4k to 50k+. A very high quality Fort Knox gun safe would run you somewhere around 15-20k
I agree that the safe is probably not worth 100k plus, but there is something to be said about a piece of high quality crocodile leather that is that large and can be stretched in an uninterrupted way. I'm sure sourcing the crocodile that meets quality standards to produce even a few of those safes are a bitch and a half.
Multiple safe owner here. The money in a high end safe would be in dehumidifier and other environmental features. Large safes are very heavy and prohibitive for most people.
Somehow I get the notion that this is a no girls allowed treehouse pre-adolescent amateur hour crack of a time. You both are too funny!
You should do a video with Teddy Baldassarre. The contrast would be quite striking.
My g*n safe was 900$. I put my gold and silver in it too. My watches are on a shelf in my room...all in watch winders lol
Nice to see the Cape Cod Cloth sponsored gear, Michael ;)
I have 4 Watch winders, they serve as display in my bedroom and I turn them on once a week.
If I was loaded, the thought of that safe would not even cross my mind. I have a large gun safe cost around $2k AUD.
Love Grand Seiko, own one, wish they had some more elegance though if you know what I mean, talking bracelet mainly.
You guys rock.
If there were a modern Grand Seiko with a bracelet like that on the new 36mm Explorer, I'd be taking some time off work and running to the local GS AD right now.
Question on the oil thickening if not used issue: Do you know long is it before a typical movement is made (in-house or third-party) before it is cased, sent to an AD and then purchased? It’s gotta be months (or maybe even years) of sitting around in most cases. Wouldn’t the oil thicken there too?
That's a good point. And there are instances where NOS is sitting in an AD's safe for years before it's purchased.
Winders are useless. Been collecting watches for over 30 years. Never had a failed watch due to not having worn but I do make sure every now and then I hand wind them. I think the oil thickening normally a problem with bad storage and if the watches are not water resistant enough. Most of my watches are at least 10 atm and I never had any issues. I do have many many watches. Also, think about Grand Seiko high accuracy quartz modules they are required to service once in 50 years. If oil crusting is an issue it will be an issue with Grand Seikos.
The two of you are great
You are driving me up the wall eating those cereal, smacking on camera, and talking while you are eating. Uuuggghhh!
14:37 Michael is talking about Dr. Strange lol
Big box store drywall lined safe is around 500-1000. Just above that with name brands just above that range. Good safe that is actually rated more than a lock box will cost 3-10k. Thats premium safe like Amsec or Rhino.
You can get used Mosler dual door fireproof with drawers for around $2k.
I just ordered 6 boxes of that cereal. 💥
Michael definitely toning down the toke toke of that sticky icky. Good for him!
You can go to bass pro and get a decent gun safe for less than 3k.
A Zenith Daytona is the Daytona I go after. It has the story about Charles Vermot hiding the tools and plans to the El primero movement attached to it and the success story of the Daytona and that's enough for me
@Dorian Phoenix I know it's crazy isn't it the spike in Rolex from then to now is just unbelievable
@Dorian Phoenix A big step back I have a Explorer ref 114270 z series from 07. I'm more than content with that being my only Rolex. Orless things change which it doesn't look good right now. If things did chill out maybe I would add a Submariner no date but I'm not crazy about the 41mm case size
Agree. I own the 38mm rose gold bezel and its gorgeous, unique dial, and great story
Does the GS have screws in the bracelet or pins.
Christian is all aesthetics, but the Iron Snail is the functions, love the duo boys
Ridiculous prices for watch safes with winders. Just buy a good quality safe used and get a joiner to fabricate shelves for winders . Cost would be well under 2,000
Grand Seiko should make a moon surface dial. Now that's a moonwatch I would buy lol
Watch winders are good as I wish I can afford one, but most afternoons... after work I like to wind up my watches ⌚ look at them in all their glory, and it feels good too know they all are together like a mechanical family. They need attention and I'm their to give it.
I keep thinking you’re drinking a candle.😂
Y'all need to make hats that say "yep"....
Push, not screw down. But you didn't answer the question everyone is asking: can you confirm you both loved the scene in Leaving Las Vegas?
GS is stepping up!
Can’t wait to see a JCB watch on someone’s wrist so I can say “Nice Biver!” It would be even better if the person wearing the watch then says...”Thanks, I just had it serviced...”
I hate spending more on a safe than I could spend to buy a new quality rifle. Less than $1,000 for a large gun safe personally. I have purchased mine through Costco.
A root beer Daytona? Interesting.
congratulations on your vostok, is it gmt by any chance? I love mybut it is needed to have dimagnetiser. Ineedto do my once a month. Mostly when taking something from the deep fridge.
Interesting subject watch winders. I love scene from dr strange opening the draw full of watches spinning on a winder. Really iconic in my opinion and it got me one cirkle deeper in to watches. I have my in draw but in box due to the fact moste are hand winder.
Let's go!
I just turned it off when they started to chew it into the microphone... I was like.. NOPE... :) :)
Pump 100% - With ya Michael
Belts and Shoes made from exotic leather and very comfortable
Screw down pushers if it’s a dive/chrono. Otherwise just give me pump pushers.
A nice rifle safe is around $1000 for one that size
GS has two main weak points with very few exceptions: thickness is not in proportion to diameter. Bracelet or straps are often disappointing.
Dial symmetry is all an issue with the ridiculously unnecessary power reserve indicator.
@@shepleonard8695 that is so true. Luckily they have variations with the power reserve on the back side.
It's all about the pump!
Liberty safes, gardall are the # 1 gun safes, jewelry, documents, etc, which are amazing in quality. They range from couple thousands to big $. Check out there CZcams videos to see what they are tested to. As far as watch winders Orbita makes the best winder $ can buy. They are made in North Carolina, German motors I believe in most models, repairs and customer service is unmatched. I had other brands before and they are all dressed up Chinese junk, Jeff.
I want my wife to have an automatic mechanical watch, she absolutely will never set her watch after it sits for a week, nor use it! So the winder is for me lol …
Life lesson: if you fall off the bike, get up and start a watch company
Great Video.
I have a Patek Philippe, Rolex Sport's Models Omega Speedmaster l Seriously want to add a 1969 Heuer Monaco Calbrie 11 blue dail to my watch Collection can u do a Video on it please 🙏 💙
Pump, like the Moonwatch.
Premium rifle safe is about 6-10k..
No clue how CZcams is serving these to me. It is all watch news aged 1-3 years
I don't know what I'm more excited about. Choco Magic Spoon cereal or that chocolate Daytona. Mmmm mmmm.
You can get a great liberty safe for $2000
Always entertains
The Birch isn’t attractive to me. As far as GS as a whole, I’ve tried to like them but just don’t like their designs at all. I’ve tried them on numerous times and nothing about them appeals to me. The aesthetics are just too plain and unappealing. They literally remind me of a JC Penney Citizen watch design.
Quality watches though, I understand that. Like I said, I wish I loved them because the price is right.
Wow that’s deep I would rather spend $40k then waste $12k smh sick I never looked at things like that I’ve always been the person that bought a DJ2 wanting a sub then fell inlove with the Daytona and bought a sub just cuz I could of at the moment smh I should of gotten that Daytona when I had the chance now their $50k stainless
$20k safe? Buy a $2k or less gun safe.
Watching you from France, I love your content :+1:
We keep getting blessed by the gods.
my Liberty FatBoy Jr gun safe cost $1600 and can hold watches if I chose too.
$10/box of cereal... you boujee bastards, god love ya
Time to change the hair style guys..
what watch is Christian wearing? looks like some form of a reverso
Great vintage Daytona finds. Hysterical guys are tenting over Pandas these days. And sad that Rolex is just mailing it in. Sure they sell every one they produce, could (at MSRP) 5x over. But come on, mix it up. White with maroon subdials.
Another great video from the duo! 🤣 But on a serious note, I agree with absolutely everything you mention about Grand Seiko. Spot on!!! And yet, I still don’t get how their logo doesn’t piss you off. I understand most Americans don’t share the same views upon history as Europeans, but you (Christian) seem to carry quite and European connection, cultural references and family heritage to this day.
Personally, that gothic style logo always give me the chills as it bears absolutely no connection to the Japanese culture and brand values, and takes me right back to the European middle ages…
Wtf?! I understand that, 60 years ago, GS marketing needs would have been to consciently 'maskerade' as a western company in order to be perceived less asian and better accepted among their customers. But to maintain such a cultural mistake and persist on doing so for so long...?!
What’s your take on that Christian and Michael? Cheers
The watch safe company knows watch people are dumb enough to pay $50,000 for 5 cents of stainless steel and $100 in manufacturing costs... might as well charge those same people $100,000 for a safe to put their overpriced watches in. 🤷♂️🤣😂
Christian is my money machine😎⌚️✌️
I’m a pump.....I guess I’m an a$&hole like Michael 😂😅. I have a mixture of screw down and pump pusher Chronographs, and I have to say I do find a lot of uses for the chrono. I definitely prefer the quick, easy access to a pump pusher then unscrewing the pushers, then potentially forgetting to screw them back down when I’m done with them. That is the lesser part of it… Overall, I prefer the clean, simple, classic look of a pump pusher versus the bulky, bulbous screw down.
Christian can we get back to watches. Thank you 🤔
I swear these guys are drunk when they record hahaha
Pushers Speedy, screw down Daytona. It doesn’t make sense but than again: forget about it!
My AD gives free Wolf single watch winders with a watch purchase over $5k. I like them because they can make your favorite auto a grab-n-go. But, I don’t like them enough to pay $300 retail for them as a stand alone purchase. Gun safes are important for gun owners because unsecured weapons can spike your insurance and create significant personal liability. You need a big honking watch safe? Consider a jewelry rider on your homeowners insurance like I did or move to a better neighborhood?
"I just wish Theo would be nicer to Harris" - Chaz from the Burgh
🤦♀️
I don‘t think the Daytona is the most famous watch in the world.
I think the Datejust and Submariner are more recognisable.
The Daytona is more of a success story since at one time dealers couldn't even get rid of them. The Submariner, DJ and Sea Dweller were always hot watches
Ape Co is back
You can get a top of the line, no bullshit, fireproof, 25+ gun stand up safe for less than $2000. Pretty cheap for what you get.
Also: pump pushers. Screw downs are for blowhards
