  • Today I want to share with you a new approach to Cat Litter that will minimize cat litter tracking, mask smelly odors, and be easy to clean!
    I am a cat owner like you and for the longest time my approach was googling the best cat litter and hoping that it would resolve all my cat litter problems. That best cat litter approach is flawed and I will discuss a more complete approach in how to deal with Cat Litter.

    I wanted to say personally with my ragdoll Ezra, this worked amazingly 🥹 I personally never had a cat before and obviously a litter box so the fact I never personally had litter tracking because of this is just amazing. I also think the smell control is great! When he finally got use to the environment and his new food- I sometimes forget there is even a litter box in my room because of it :D the price is definitely worth it tysm

    I agree so much with your conclusion of "choosing the best litter SYSTEM". It's so frustrating that most videos talked about "only the box", "only the litter medium", which sometimes isn't suitable for the other person's living environment (and budget). That being said, I am still looking for option that doesnt require me to buy a new litter box. I am using the regular box ones. I am considering some kind of mat atm, but that will take up space that can be used for something else.

    • @TheCatButler

    Pine pellets cover cat poop smell well, but you need to wet some of the pellets so that they break down. The resulting sawdust eliminates odor very well, and the cats prefer using it as it's soft, fluffy, and highly absorbant. Simply remove solids once or twice a day and then discard the sawdust after one week.
    Cost is significantly less too. Buy hardware store pellet stove pine pellets. They are the same thing and cost $6 for 40 pounds. Literally cheaper than dirt. One bag lasts 3 months.

    Also I have found tofu pellets for sale, but yours are slimmer, like tofu toothpicks. Is there much of a difference?

    • @TheCatButler
      @TheCatButler  Před 3 lety +4

      Hey yeah the tofu litter does not turn into dust. When it it hits their pee and poop it keep its shape and turns into a pancake or ball. Tofu litter tends to be a little heavier so hence minimal tracking with a top entry litter box. Different brands do have slightly different results, but the difference is how good the clumping is. when I was researching, I picked the Pidan litter because it was praised by everybody in the reviews of its ability to keep its clump. I can verify that is true. But you can check to see what people say in the cons for the tofu litter you are looking at and see if their is a pattern of that being consistently being a problem

    So... have you actually used pine litter? Because we have 3 kittens and it's all we've used so far and our experience has mirrored that of "all about cats" here on CZcams... it has excellent odor control but tracks and scatters like a son of a biscuit.
    That single con is what I'm here for. I hate saw dust and it's all over my bed because that's what the pine pellets turn to as soon as it's peed on.
    You're right that the pine is large... but the saw dust in tiny and covers the poop well and also trax like mad. 😡
    Also, the cats do get better at covering with it as they adjust... especially if you give them enough to cover with.

      Hey Jeremy when the cats were kittens I did use pine litter called Feline Pine. After they peed the pine litter did turn into saw dust. I think I didn't get much tracking because the modkat litter box did a good job at keeping the saw dust in the litter box and I cleaned the litter box daily.

      @@Somelikeitthrift that's what we use... but it doesn't go to the bottom on its own... you've gotta pick it up and make space between the sifter and the tub underneath with your fingers and shake it for a few minutes each day to remove all the sawdust. We do that, but they still track sawdust everywhere.

      Its the sycamore tree and I customized it by adding extra leaves. You can tell the owner you want it like the cat butler and he would know what to do!

    How does tofu litter handle pee? It's easy to know when to scoop but hard to know when to change the litter because of the pee.

    • @TheCatButler
      @TheCatButler  Před 2 lety

      It handles pee very well. Once a cat pees the tofu litter clumps it up into a ball. The litter is very good at moisture absorption I usually clean the bag once every month. Hope that helps!

      @@brigittebouchard8173 cats are animals.. not humans. it's the most unnatural way for a cat to use the toilet like we humans do... yeah you can do that but it's not the in the cats favor... usually we/you should care a lot for our/your pets, that's why it's best to treat them like the felines they are. Jackson Galaxy has a YT video about it. He like the most leading cat expert and he gives the biological arguments and reasons. It would be too long for a comment to tell you! :) I highly suggest his YT channel. Even if you don't like all of his tipps, it's still a great source of information :)

    If you feed your cat the right kind of food, they wouldn't poop so often and their poop wouldn't smell so bad. Start at the root of the problem, then you wouldn't have to chase looking for the right kind of litter or litter "system". Your cats are adorable though.
