FINALLY someone brings up Fullmetal Alchemist & also gives the female characters in Fairy Tail the respect they deserve. Hiro Mashima could have made the best female cast in all of a Shonen and it's a shame that he goes overboard with the fan service. A lot of people fail to see some of the good writing because of it.

It still has been. Hell Oda despite giving his female cast fan service(Looks at Nami and Robin) is quite good.
It completely shocks me that Fairy Tail, a series mocked relentlessly for its overuse of fanservice, writes its females better than most other Shonen.

@@JetTheProphet A lot of my issues with female characters stem with the writing. Outside of Hiban, I find a lot of women in Fire Force to be poorly written. You get boring fanservice bait...but you also have nothing characters in Maki and Iris.

TBH I am also getting mad about Shonen Anime not giving Female Characters more screentime, but I am Happy they're Great Female Characters that are well written.
Shonen Anime with Great well written Female Characters: Jujutsu Kaisen, Black Clover, One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Fairy Tail, Edens Zero, Soul Eater, Bleach, Cowboy Bebop and Chainsaw Man
Shonen Anime that kind have good well written Female Characters: My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, Dr. Stone, Fire Force
Shonen Anime that has Bad written Female Characters: Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Death Note
Bro it's a shonen anime which meant for teenage boys. Women are not the focus so why are people so and if shonen doesn't have well written characters. There is josei and shojo for the female audience.
@writeanimeedits True but I still feel Female Characters deserves screen time besides girls are getting into Shonen just like they're boys getting into Shojo. Besides and not trying to sound Homophobic here but if they give Female Characters more screen time with the Males than it will show them why the girl should be with that boy. Cuz that's what's happening with MHA dude cuz the dumb Fandom thinks all the guys are gays, especially Deku who is obviously Straight. Also and don't get offended but is kinda sexist that you said Shonen are for boys, cuz is like saying Video Games are only for boys even though girls like Video Games too
@@Dragon-Catracho We don’t talk about the MHA fandom their full of weirdo’s like seriously I think they need help and they are the definition of people that need to go outside because the amount of cringe I see on the internet pertaining to the MHA fandom is crazy to say the least but anyway he wasn’t being sexist, he was actually saying the truth Shonen is aimed at young boys sorry to say but things do have a target demographic that’s not to say that females can’t get into it but it is essentially for young boys just like how Shoujo is for young girls, it’s like how Highschool of the dead is for older teenage boys, I can’t really see a female fan enjoying that unless she likes fanservice which is true for some female anime fans but not 50% of the time so I would say it’s more so for boys that show.
Everything has a target audience not to say anyone outside of the audience can’t come into it but know what your getting into before entering something you don’t quite understand, now I would like to see female characters in Shonen have more roles which they have as of recently with newer Shonen so it’s getting better step by step but we also got to realize who it’s going for sometimes.
Naruto has at least a decent to good female cast y’all really over hate on it. It’s like a 7/10

People just gotta search correctly. You obviously won’t find the best women in the biggest shows in a magazine quite explicitly aimed at young men.
But we have seen shows aimed at young men who have good female characters. We shouldn't have to search. I say this as a mega MHA fan too.

Esdeath is good women character
it hurts my soul that a topic like this is being discussed with no mention of Claymore. a good 80+% of the characters are not only female, but strong & very well written women. the series in it's entirety is criminally underrated. 😩 to those who have watched/read it also say that Claymore has the best power scaling out there too.

there's no way you were talking shit about fairy tail's fan service only to immediately jump to dxd which is infinitely worse. like I love fairy tail but It took me four different attempts just to sit through the first few episodes of dxd, I had to watch it with the homies just to get through it. People kept saying how good the story was, but it took 3 seasons for there to be a story. Meanwhile, almost every attempt at a serious moment is completely ruined by literal naked and or topless women all over the place, this is especially bad in season 1
I understand your comment. The reason why I allow it for DxD and not FairyTail is that DxD’s premise is built around fan service and I expect fan-service due to the genre of ecchi. FairyTail is a Shonen 1st and ecchi 2nd. And while I love seeing lewd FairyTail girls, fan service is hit or miss and its usually against their will. Vs DxD fanservice (for the most part) is what drives the plot and the girls actively lewd themselves (i hate when fan service is against their will)
To be fair for Fairy Tail,frickin One Piece has the fan service too. Don't even give me which is better, just don't pretend it's the only one out there. That's like saying Mario has no bad games while Sonic always had bad apples.
I'd say in some animes I've seen their cardboard cutouts and another anime they're not the biggest one I can think of is Naruto I suppos maybe one or two females had some personality but I don't really remember it's been awhile since I've watched it in one of the good ones I can think of is bleach

Hinata: Her character was focused on regaining self confidence bc of how her clan ostracized her bc of her more kind nature that they saw as weak, such as neji saw that as her being a cowards and put that label on her. Naruto was someone who was also ostracized but he never fell into despair like she did which was what inspired her to regain self confidence and we see this strive to do so in the chunin exams & the pain invasion & she defied her fate as a labeled coward by ppl like neji & became the strongest in her clan and someone fully confident in herself
Sakura: Sakura has the role without her group of 3 as the one who did not know war or loss like the other 2 in their own unique ways now be introduce to loss and war. We can clearly see her change of perspective in the land of waves where she goes on about saying how ninjas don’t show emotion in battle and so on. Throughout og she realizes the gap between her and her teammates while also trying her best with what she has, that is why she went to tsunade to train under her as tsunade would play to her natural strengths and abilities. She also has a great dynamic & parallel to sai when it comes to understanding and expressing emotions as Sai is legit someone who was trained to be an emotionless robot.
Tenten: She doesn’t has as much depth as others but she did state her goal was to be a great ninja like tsunade and she also became a menace with those so6p weapons in the war arc.
Tsunade: We’re introduced to her as she is clear about her views on becoming hokage as a fool’s job, which is an actual parallel to naruto’s idea(pessimism vs optimism). We’re revealed to her backstory that the people closest to her want to be hokage and ended up dying. This promoted her to take to view of that desire as I already stated. She was then give fear of blood as she was their when Dan was covered in blood while trying to stop it from flowing. This is ironic as she is a doctor. She decided to isolate herself from ppl of the village and picked up ways to show her escapism like gambling & alcohol. Once meeting naruto she saw the same thing she always though, a fool wanting to be hokage. But after seeing him dead centered focus on being it and how he put his life on the live against kabuto & orochiamru which showed her what the true purpose that the title of hokage gives to ppl who want to become it and the lengths they will take. Her neck less also has good characterization in that when she gave it to naruto it showed the trust she put into naruto to become hokage one day. This positive light on the issue was also how she overcame her fear of blood while trying to protect naruto & also showed us that she fully rejects orchimaru’s offer in exchange for his arms & her her brother & Dan.
Tsunade was the best written female character from what I could tell maybe some of the other characters do have some more depth now but how many episodes or chapters did it take to get to that point over 500 over 1000 or maybe they weren't even written about in the main series as far as I can tell to say that they're kind of garbage isn't wrong in my opinion considering how long they were around I like the show a lot but if you're not willing to admit it's flaws that's not on me doesn't make it the worst show ever but a lot of the females were poorly written

Mf they were good since og naruto, and naruto as a whole with og and shippuden has 427 canon epsiodes, I exclude all filler epsiodes, and don’t act like one piece doesn’t take so long for things or characters to get good. There’s a handful of good female characters in naruto they’re overall not poorly written

Even outside of shonen female characters could be better. For example, I think Anya from Spy x Family is a bit of a mary sue due to how she acts. I would like to see them throe hands too but it hits different ehen it is a Yor than andom girl boss character.
