Dual PC Stream Audio Setup - No Mixer Needed! (Cheap and easy method)

  • If you just got your 2 PC stream up and running but are having trouble getting audio, this cost effective solution might be what you're looking for. While most dual PC audio setups require an expensive mixer to send sub-mixes between two computers. There is a cheaper and easier solution, using 2x 3.5mm cables and 2x ground loop isolators paired with the Elgato Sound Capture software are all you need.
    For the cables needed, it costs me roughly around 20-30$. Given the cost of some mixers, is pretty cheap.
    My setup is a little different, as I prefer using the mic on my gaming PC instead of my streaming PC. Either way, this method should work vice-versa depending on how you prefer your audio layout.

      On my gaming PC I installed the Sound Capture APP from ElGato (Comes bundled with the 4K Capture app). @@haydenmurray9696 So for question 1, sadly the speakers would need to be disconnected. As the blue port is specific to the line in, green to line out, and pink is a mic input. If you have a black 3.5 port, those are meant for rear speakers in case you wanted to have a surround sound setup with your PC. But I've never tried that so no promises =)
      Regarding question 2. The Capture card still handles all of the desktop audio via the HDMI. This setup is made with the intention to have the mic on the gaming PC. With the the mic on the stream PC, you can still run your mic's audio over to the gaming PC to be used in Discord/games etc.... but that means friends or ppl in game will hear your stream alerts/any audio from the stream PC since its all condensed into one signal.
      Hope this helps!

    Hello. Is this possible with a gaming laptop that only has one 3.5mm jack? To a Pc for streaming?

    • @dweebhubtutorials4893
      @dweebhubtutorials4893  Před rokem

      That is a tough one, if the laptop is the gaming PC you wont be able to hear the alerts coming from he stream PC.
      Vice versa if the laptop is the streaming PC, it wont be able to accept incoming audio.
      Only other suggestion I could give is trying an external sound card. But I've never tried it, so your mileage may very. Good luck!

    would this let me use my laptop for discord and have my desktop just playing games but have both audio from desktop and laptop coming into one headset?

    • @dweebhubtutorials4893
      @dweebhubtutorials4893  Před 8 měsíci

      I don't see why not, the line out from the gaming desktop just handles your mic.
      So you could choose the line in on the streaming PC for both discord and OBS.

    this is so long ago but i hope u take the time to reply to me. does it work well with the wave link and el gato capture card?

    • @dweebhubtutorials4893
      @dweebhubtutorials4893  Před 7 měsíci +1

      This is more or less pointed towards folks without any streaming mixer involved.
      Should be able to have aux cables going to and from the wave link, then use the elgato routing software to pass audio between both PCs.
      Then again. Haven't used a wave link yet.

      Try reinstalling he Elgato software. It also might be disabled (windows gets weird sometimes), so right click under the recording options and view all disabled devices.
      A fresh install/reboot should work though. If it doesn't you may have to manually delete the drivers then reinstall.

      Unfortunately no, because you're consolidating all streaming PC audio into one feed it'll send the stream PC's Desktop audio/alerts and send it through your microphone as well.
      At least in my testing thats what happened.

      It should, you have to download the Elgato recording software JUST TO GET ACCESS to the Elgato Sound capture. You don't need the recording software to complete this tutorial.
      For some reason Elagto wont let you download the sound software itself.
