The Incredibles: Rise Of The Underminer, a direct sequel too the film and video game. Is it an improvement over the last game or is their a reason why this game is no longer canon?? Find Out In This Review where we take a look at the original Incredibles 2

Oh wow, I absolutely LOVE that they dug out Frozone's theme from this game to use in the sequel! His showing up there in the sequel was already a pretty great moment, but the fact that they threw such an obscure reference into the score and made it WORK...! I've played the main Incredibles game but not this one, so I would never have realised that; thanks for pointing it out :D

This is a problem with video game sequels to movies because of how movies are prioritized, they could become non-canon when an actual movie sequel comes out.

Cars should’ve had a real sequel that took place after the original, despite the game being labeled now non canon though it is still canon in my mind.

Eh, I don’t think it’s a big deal. Most of the writers that would return for a proper sequel wouldn’t want to be constrained by a story written by a completely separate company.

Could not agree enough with the repetitious environments, I kind of wish there were more levels in the destroyed city.
Also, when I got this game for the first time, my old PS2 memory card had finally filled up to capacity. The result: I wound up playing through the entire game without saving, all in one day.

As underwhelming as this game is, the soundtrack and the vibe and especially nostalgia I have for this game ar what save it for me. I never got to play the original game as a kid, only after I grew older I actually played it, but never finished it, it had so many cool concepts but it was so tough and long. I actually really love rose of the underminer, but it's just so underwhelming, even as a kid I always wanted something more in the game, but I still played the heck out of it. Glad I found someone talk about this game in a little more detail, sucks you don't get the attention this would deserve. Really well made video!

    Hot take:
This should have been the plot of the Incredibles 2 movie.
13 years of build up between the original film and the sequel, and John Ratzenberger Mole Man was just a bank robber. Incredibles 2 was fine, but with 13 years of build up just evaporating in the intro feels like lost potential. I mean Evelyn Deavor was a downgrade to Syndrome, so the Underminer would have been a more fitting Big Bad. Flawed as the game is, it could have at least provided a baseline for the plot of the sequel, with Mr. Incredible’s family having a section dedicated to them, and potentially saving the writers of Incredibles 2 a lot of time. Oh well. Just one man’s opinion.

Perhaps The Underminer will be the true villain of Incredibles 3 when and if that ever happens.

I have a lot of fond memories of playing Co-op in this game with my brother and my dad, this and the NickToons games were what we played a lot on PS2 back in the day. The games were simple, but I think their simplicity gives them charm and also makes the game more fun with a friend, so I do actually like this game more than the first for that aspect.
Sometimes I wonder what a modern attempt at an Incredibles game could be like. Perhaps with the right developers it could be great, but LEGO Incredibles is the closest thing we got to that, and while the game is really good, what I'm saying is that I basically want The Incredibles to have a AAA quality non-LEGO game. I doubt it would live up to the standards of Insomniac's Spider-Man games or the Arkham games, but I think it would be a cool super hero game nonetheless. Getting new Incredibles content is always interesting since there's so little of it, so I hope we get some more in the future whether it's a 3rd movie, a series on Disney Plus, or a new game, or all of the above.

Genius find with that Frozone theme. I really have no idea why that appeared in the game first. Maybe it was an unused melody from the first movie that got recycled for the game and later the movie? It seems a bit hard to believe that Pixar would look towards a 15 year old video game for inspiration when producing the Incredibles 2.
As for the game itself, I was always curious as kid and kept telling myself I'd like to play the game someday. My interest kinda dwindled over time and now, I'm not too bummed out I missed this game. It doesn't look bad, but it feels like a good example of polish vs ambition when compared against the first game. The first game is more ambitious, it has higher highpoints, but it also has lower lows. I think in general, I'd rather have a more interesting game with uneven quality rather than a polished, but bland game. I'm sure people have good co-op memories with rise of the underminer, but I think that plus the banter between Frozone and Bob is the only real reason to play Rise of the underminer instead of the original

I assume that Michael Giacchino just composed the song for Rise of the Underminer and later decided to revisit it when doing the score for Incredibles 2.

I had this on PC back in 2005 just after it came out. My dad bought it and I spent many hours every day trying to beat it from start to finish because I didn't know how the safe function worked! I played it recently with a hacked ROM and it gave me a lot of nostalgia! I love each of the levels and how memorable they are, each with their own theme and unique style. The enemies get progressively more dangerous, the drill head bots being the most annoying and hard! I still have a massive soft spot for this game and its got a very warm place in my heart.

I remembered when i saw a comment on a Rise of the Underminer video, they pointed out that a part of that soundtrack was used in the movie. I thought surely not so i went back and watched the movie and when i heard it i swear the smile i had was stretching my face muscles off, and not only that i had goosebumps as it matched really well with the scene

Also have memories of playing this game as a kid. I remember enjoying it quite a bit and found it to be entertaining enough. I think, perhaps, this was in large part due to the fact you could play as Frozone and that I'd being wanting a sequel for ages.
In retrospect, I really like some of the gameplay ideas presented here, particularly' Mr Incredible's and Fronzone's different abilites and how well they mesh together. As Frozone, you can freeze projectiles or enemy robots which Mr Incredible can then throw. Mr Incredible can also be used to draw attention whilist Fronzone acts as a support, freezing the distracted enemies or any stragglers. Mr Incredible's abilites are obviously better at close range. Fronzone's are more effective at a distance.
I would've preferred this be the focus of the sequel moive, stopping Underminer and some evil scheme of his (not that I completely dispise what we got in the actual sequel instead).
Regardless, thanks for your video. It was nice to hear someone else's thoughts on the game since it doesn't get discussed very much.

As shown on 8:58 I played one level that had this bad guy and I use frozone to froze this robot well that same robot as shown on 8:58 kept on appearing every single time and mr incredible and frozone lost their health and it said game over and I was like I want to finish the this video game 🎮 🎮 that’s the frustration I had with this game and I died more than 20 times in a row and I just wish that these developers would have a update with the characters and health and robot try and make it easy not hard. And not lose any health.

As shown on 6:55-6:59 in one level there was this character and he had a hammer as his weapon and mr incredible and Frozone lost their health and it said game over and I was like com on heavy iron don’t do that it would be amazing 🥲 if we got a modern gameplay style similar to crash bandacoot it’s about time. Modern When you die, you always continue from the last checkpoint. (Recommended) while Retro You have limited lives. Run out, and you must restart the level. that’s what the incredibles the rise of the underminer needs and hopefully will have.

Also when we bought this I thought we made something iligal do to rated for 12 and up in my country but we were not 12 when my dad bought it as an extra. My brother picked Yu-Gi-Oh and I IndyCar 2005 that day but we also wanted that game. And we here In Germany have in both games the original voice actors.
