- Light, strong, cheap: now you can pick all three!
This is great as a captive shackle where you have a running line. Either on 2:1 halyards, or the final turning point in a high load purchase system.

Off roaders been doing this for ages!! Soft shackle and snatch block/ ring😜😜
Smartest way to do a Diamondknot i ever seen! Supergood!!
Love that reverse edit
Showed this to my wife, she asked me if it was an April fools. Ok I’m not a sailor, I’m a windsurfer who has a wanderer that very occasionally use, but I’m completely baffled, no idea what I just watched or what it’s used for, looked very complicated, But hey, love your AC videos, which I mostly don’t understand, but keep up with the great content, a must watch, for reasons I don’t really understand
😅
Nice a new dinghy related video
I am a bit confused by low friction rings. Should the sheet go through the centre as in this video or around the outside as you have in the mock up displayed as a backdrop in many of your videos. Or can you just do either? If around the outside, ie more likely a pulley, should the ring be static and the sheet slide around it or should the ring spin around the rope that goes through the centre making it very much like a traditional pulley?
Can be either, but is more usually the moving line through the centre. If the moving line goes around the outside then the rope going through the centre becomes the bearing. You want the ring sliding on whichever rope has less friction.
@@MozzySails Thanks for clarifying as just in process of using a couple for an outhaul reefing line.
Doesn't this leave a large gap between the top of the sail and the top of the mst when the main is hoisted?
I've made this with a larger ring and soft shackle to make it easy to see, but with a 15mm ring and 2mm dyneema you can get pretty close to full hoist. But yeah, a shackle might get slightly higher.
On the jib halyard it's not so much and issue.
Which knot do you use for the thimble? Thanks.
I just use a reef knot in the twine with a hitch either side. Its not really holding any load so just needs synching up tight enough so it doesn't work loose
Tom you ok? It has been quiet here for a bit.. Hope you are well.
Thabks for the message. All good here, just very busy with the day job. Normal service should resume mid may
What diameter rings and dyneema do you suggest for the main halyard shackle? (Using on a B14)
2mm dyneema and an allen 15 or 20mm ring
Perfect thank you!! Looking forward to decking out the B14 😎 these videos are awesome, just saw the one where you made a new kicker!
👍🍻
New to that, explain like im a new born 😂
Shh you’re giving away all the secrets.
Good effort but you need to do it much slower and do the traditional method of explaining, what you are going to tell them, then telling them what is what and then concluding with what you have told them.
DITCH the noise.
Whilst I might agree with the thought it's a rather direct and rude way of requesting the change (IMHO)
I like the sound a lot and the background music
