In case you’re new here…Hi my name’s kitty i’m 19 and I run a bakery!
I make everything myself and bake over 300 products a day🥐.This is what a Friday and Saturday looks like in my life as a solo baker.

I love that you found a way to bake professionally but without loosing the aspects of the profession/craft that make it so beautiful and heartwarming. I quit being a pastry chef last year after 10 years working in bakeries because there was so little change in the daily routine and products and it was only about speed and efficiency all the time. Even so...I miss the atmosphere of the bakery sometimes. I'm so happy for you that you found a way to live your passion and don't loose sight of what really matters in the process!

@@kittytaitbaker Oh hey, re: customer suggestions, I just ended a decade-long residency in California and one of my favorite flavor combinations from the sunny west coast is **lemon and raspberry**. They're both very sweet and tart but in very different ways; alone they sing, but together they're a symphony. Try it out, I bet you'll like it.

Bread doesn’t even have that much calories and it’s not what makes you gain weight. It’s what you put on bread. Two small slices (let’s say toast sized) of whole-wheat bread are only around 120 calories, but those two slices of cheese you put on them are 80 each. Don’t demonize bread and carbs, yeah, pure sugar is bad for you and it’s easy to drink half a liter of coke in a minute and consume 200 calories like this, but complex carbs, especially whole wheat, are not the culprit here.

Also, weirdly, I would like to see what's involved in cleaning and resetting the bakery space after a long day of prep and baking. Maybe I'm the only one with that interest, however. Also, it would be interesting to see a bit more about the retail end of things, interactions with customers, pricing, etc. Maybe a bit more about the town you live in, as well. Thanks!

a recommendation for lavender, what i use to do is infuse the water u use with lavendel. Itll get that gorgeous collour, ive done it with other flowers too.

I love how the lavender wasn't so much purple but actually turned out to be a lavender color, which is perfect if you think about it. Whether they came from people suggestions or your own ideas, everything you're doing in there is so amazing, and done clearly with absolute love and joy of baking, it's just wonderful to know that people get to experience the fruits (especially in the case of the strawberries) of your labours.
And the fact that you both bake everything and then deliver it and sell it as the face of your storefront is also amazing. You truly are an amazing person.🎉

The lavender honey buns were honestly ingenious and the purple was so so beautiful. You’re an inspiration kitty!!! Love the sheer joy you get from this! As a small business owner, I'd love to hear about the financial aspects of your work, like pricing and profit margins and going pro. I know it can be scary or feel too private, but I get super curious about stuff like that. I'm sure there's more than one home baker watching who has thought about going pro but isn't sure how to, or how to know if they're ready, etc. Also, do you share your ovens?

In terms of finance I actually keep everything incredibly simple. For example ALL my bread no matter what flavour is the same price and ALL my buns and pastries are the same price!
I have no idea what my margins are on a single product but I know I make a small profit each week which is enough!💗😊and I rent my ovens but don’t share them x
