We cannot be too optimistic that this process has already taken place. Of course what is going on is a vast improvement over state atheism. No one denies that, but a vast amount of work still needs to be done. The catholic parish in Moscow has a nicely situated, well-kept, spacious church and a growing Russian and international congregation where novus ordo is celebrated in several languages. I think there is almost no one in the entire country who is celebrating Extraordinary masses. Maybe no one. There are some American Catholic missionaries, including religious sisters, who are bringing needed help to Russian Catholics, but few Western Europeans have joined them as far as I know. Western Europeans need missionaries in their own countries. Better relations between Russia and America would help to improve this situation but the Democrats, inspired by their dark master, would rather slit their own throats than allow it.
