Just got one from Amazon, it's $80 I think for the rest of today (Prime Day crap)...Just throwing that out there
I just pinned your comment so others will see! That's a good discount. ( I added a link in the description in case anyone wants to support the channel directly ).
Wish I had found this video and comment a day ago
@@Daniel-it1dp I randomly just tried Amazon, but after messing with it for a bit it's still worth $100 out the door...Very slick! Heavier than I would have expected, but not in a bad way
@@leewiscovitch it's 80€ again in my country at least, might want to check now! Just purchased it and I am super impressed.
@@WorkFromHype does this work with Davinci resolve?
I watch a ton of desk setup videos and your channel is by far my favorite right now. Well shot, the pros and cons are made clear and while I love the inclusion of the items I’ve seen on other channels they all start recommending the exact same things. Your channel is a breath of fresh air. Wishing you continued success
This comment means a lot to me man, thank you.
To remove flickering, just try to play with shutter angle ;). Or duplicate your footage, superpose, 50% opacity and one frame to the right. Hope it helps !
Wow, interesting, I'm going to have to try that!
I imagine it’s shutter speed in relation to oled refresh
Excellent review, and cool device! This channel is absolutely setting the standard for the review video genre. We get to hear your real-life experience, technical details, and practical uses for each of the gadgets you cover. It's to the point and not fluffed with nonsense, and EXTREMELY well-produced. THANK YOU for providing excellent quality content for mature tech nerds who care about what matters and don't want to bother with meaningless rants. As a bonus, I personally appreciate the wholesome script as it allows me to comfortably watch any of your videos with anyone in my family or guests whom I think might be interested in your content. KEEP IT UP!
p.s. Your intros/outros are a super cool touch that give every videos a professional feel. Your video execution is putting tech review giants to shame, IMHO.
Wow, how does this channel have less than 10k subs? Such high quality work and the actual got me thinking about buying some of these peripherals -- something most desk tech videos do not achieve. Looking forward to how WFH evolves.
I’m surprised that you don’t have over a hundred thousand or even a million subscribers by now with how high quality your videos are. Keep it up!
Yo. Production quality, attention to detail, script, branding, and subtle touches like "screen does not flicker in person" just makes your vids A+. Gorgeous work, and all the best for the first million subs and beyond.
Just picked this up from Amazon UK for £76 (down from £125), exactly the thing I've been looking for......user friendly. Awesome videos by the way, keep up the great work. Earned yourself a subscriber.
been considering this as a budget alternative to the loupedeck/razer stream controller. i really do like knob and screen for labeling, but i also love the lcd screen for each button and knob for the loupedeck even more
would be nice for elgato to make a stream deck with a knob in the $150 range. probably would be similar to the 15 button stream deck, but take away 4 button for a a big knob or 2.
Dude, I just went through your videos and have to say this is top notch content. Can't wait to see what's next. Subscribed!
Another fantastic video, keep up the good work, these are a pleasure to watch.
I've had the XenceLabs Quick Keys for about a year, and I really like it. I use it for video editing, and it makes things FAST!
discovered your channel yesterday, absolutely love every one of your solutions and recommendations - keep it up man!
Been loving the videos man! Giving me some great gift ideas for my brother that dabbles in programming! Would love to see a desktop gift ideas video! Keep up the great work
I got myself a tourbox neo. It doesn’t have a screen. But it gives you a lot more options and it helped me a lot speeding up my editing process
In before 20k subs. You're well on your way to 500k and beyond with this production quality. Absolutely stellar work.
Can’t wait to hear about that digital clock! Keep up the great work.
Ha ha, one of the reasons I bought Quick Keys is because you CAN used it wired! It comes on when my Cintiq 24 Pro comes on, which even the remote that came with it does not do. To me, that alone is a big step up. The fact that it works with nearly anything might make it indispensable very quickly.
Just purchased one of these, love your content and I’m eagerly awaiting your next video
What a GREAT investment!
Thanks for posting the video. Honestly I never heard about those kinds of devices (unless I saw something kind of similar on a stream), but man, this QuickKeys is honestly an incredible time cruncher. I am a Civil Engineer and when working CAD, this thing saves a lot of time.
Plus its easy to use, and really mobile. Brought it to a trip I had and it comes with the case and everything.
Thank you CZcams algorithm for allowing WFH to appear in my feed
Thanks Work From Hype for making an in-depth explanation on the topic.
Keep it up!
Awesome! So happy I randomly stumbled on this video. Have one in my Amazon cart already
Great videos! Looking forward to the desk setup tour and maybe a video dedicated to your keyboard?
What a discover!!! you are a very professional guy, i watched all your videos and i want to say you good luck for the channel!
Keep up the reviews, big fan. Subscribed from your car thing video. Watched all the other right after.
Great video! Def one of the best desk setups with a great podcast vibe. What stand do you to use to prop up the quick keys?
I literally saw this in your Car Thing video and HUNTED for what it could be on google. It showed up yesterday, and here you are lol
Oh wow, that's amazing... I think it's time I created a list of items used in my setup so others don't have to go searching. Thanks for the motivation lol
Omg dude subbed, first I watch your mini display vid, a project I almost tried a month ago. And now you have an answer to my rotary encoder macro project. Legit have been planning out an Arduino micro macroknob project and this is legit the best solution having the software integration. Far out, I'm actually really impressed with your ability to provide a first person view in such high quality. 👍
That project sounds really interesting man. Glad the videos were helpful and welcome to the channel!
Subbed! Great attention to detail and production quality.
I think i need this for my music production! dope video man, subscribed.
Crushing it man. Great video. Keep it up!
Thanks man!
I too have a love of rotary encoders. My complaint for this item is the same I have for the wacom expresskeys remote- pressing a central button to cycle through the rotary encoder's functions is kind of clunky. That's why the multi-knob setups have been getting my attention lately. I'd love to see a review of the loupdeck or the tourbox for just that reason. Keep up the great work!
Thanks man! Always good to hear from other rotary obsessed people lol. I've been eyeing the Loupdeck for a while as well, seems like it could be a nice fit for my workflow.
Please do a desk set up overview or something, those gadgets and the monitor setup you got is astounding
Ok i'm gonna be real, I've only seen two of your videos. Subbed. This content is crazy quality.
I was looking for reviews about this product and didn't found any like this. Thanks for the content
Glad it was helpful!
The Linux support is much appreciated. I was planning on picking up a Razer Tartarus as a macropad to pair with my pen display for illustration work but Xencelabs having a native Linux driver seems to be a better choice for me than having to faff around with community drivers for Razer stuff on Fedora.
Realy nice video! You nailed it!
Loving these videos! Have you happened to look into USB hubs? I find problems trying to get 10+ port USB hub that is powered and supports multiple high throughput devices without causing lag e.g. running a camera, microphone, misc peripherals, and a keyboard.
Though I see that you have opted for some wireless devices which would help with this.
Just ordered it from amazon as well. Appreciate the heads up.
I have one of these, but from the brand Wacom. Let me try this… right now… like literally right now!!! Thanks!
The fact that it's wireless is the killer feature above all. Sick.
What monitor mounted light are you using?
Thanks for another great video on desk setup tech!
Excellent review! I'm definitely putting this in my cart to buy. I've also got one of the 49" monitors, what arm are you using to mount?
Nice! Cool to see this device. I’ll be sticking with keyboard maestro since I can do a lot more with it and I have a software development background.
I never cease to be amazed at the number of gadgets available on the market that allow one to improve the efficiency of the work setup and make it more stimulating. Right now, I'm making major changes to my home office, and this device will probably come in handy and look great on my Protractor desk from Manhattan Home Design. Thanks for the review!
I think it's awesome that you're a fan of Phonk music! Great video btw!
Just found your channel and love it! I would be so down for a general desk tour/setup, if that's something you're interested in making!
Love it, nice review
Lovely review
I actually purchased one of these on the back of this video and what it made me realise is that, for me to remember which of the buttons/dial settings and create their respective shortcuts for my own pipeline/workflow - I ended up inadvertently memorising the actual keyboard shortcuts 🤣 so rather swiftly, returned the Quick Keys device!
Well id like to think in one way or another this video... Helped improve your workflow? l Appreciate the comment man.
I use a Stream Deck for this reason. Well, it doesn't have a dial but I like the displays and the interface of it
Amazing Gadget... Thanks for this video... Can you tell me what screen monitor and monitor holder you are using at the beginning of your video. Thanks alot
Dope videos man.
You might prefer the mediapad by mountain, they also have a really nice lcd macro pad called displaypad.
This is great. Finding some nice recommendations on your channel. This one in particular I’m interested being a video editor.
very interesting gadget! love videos like this
i’m glad i found your channel this early so i can watch how quickly you are going to absolutely blow up lol
man your video qualities just getting better and better each time! Excited to watch your den become overloaded with nifty gadgets. What's the Alice keyboard you've got up on the wall too? looks fun.
Thanks man! Glad you're enjoying the videos. That's the Akko Alice that dropped a few months ago. I'm wanting to make the switch but it's an adjustment! Definitely a cool keyboard if you're interested in that layout.
@@WorkFromHype Arisu is such a fun idea, but feel unless I end up rebuilding one from scratch a full ergoboard with the riser in the middle might just be a better pick up to mess with it + a nice logitech ergo wireless. Food for thought. Best of luck with your stuff thought can't wait to see what's next.
Great video, what is the cable called or where do you get it? I love how it’s curly and makes the cable look interesting
Grabbed one to use with with some of the software I use at work, so I can expense it.
Thanks for the video review.
This helped a lot thank you
New subscriber here... I have watched all of your videos and they are great! I expect this channel to explode with viewership. I would really like to see you do a video about your wide-screen monitor vs having two or three monitors and the workflow of them. I'm currently using two screen monitors but I think if I got one big wide-screen monitor, it would clean up my work space...
I got the QuickKeys for software development; a complaint I have is that is how to link a key to a script. QuickKeys can only invoke system events or launch applications. Triggering a debug session or deploying an application requires additional setup.
hey same here. i hope you can keep up this level of content. its the good stuff.
Love your channel! Could you tell me who makes your keyboard wrist rest?
hey great videos. i have been watching since the first one you published and love discovering new stuff in your background. what is the retro gameing desk clock in yellow on the back left of your desk?
Thanks for watching! So that is actually a full blown game console... It's called the PlayDate. It's much more than just a clock, so it costs quite a bit more than a clock. Very cool if you're into indie games though.
Can you map moving your mouse with the dial though? Would be nice to use one of the keys below to switch direction up/down to left/right when holding the button. I did similar thing waaaay back when I got a keyboard with rotary volume control, and it was cool, although I needed to use hell of software tricks to make it work.
I feel like the Logitech MX Master mouse, with the customizable buttons and wheel, is enough for most designers. It can also be customizable for specific apps.
Have you ever used a Tourbox? If so, it would be great to get your pros and cons and vs on that and the Quick Keys. I'm thinking about getting a XenceLabs tablet with a Tourbox instead of the Quick Keys bundle.
I just bought the macropads you've recommended on the last video haha thanks for that. Tempting to buy this also.
If may I ask. Do you use bought at the same time?
Is it possible to set up a series of shortcuts on one machine and then use it on another machine? I want to do this for my work computer which is locked down.
Btw been going through your videos and am loving the ideas it's been giving me!
You should check out the Elgato Stream Deck! Sort of a combo of this and the macropad you reviewed previously (though sadly no knobs).
I use my mouse for all my navigation but having a more minimal visual mice would be preferred and this could replace that and be wireless 🤔 I might put this on a wishlist I do like rotary devices too
Nice desktop setup! I was thinking about a car use scenario interacting with android, not android car nor other newer variants, but android tablet os. What do you think about it?
I don't work from home that often, I'm a laptop don...BUT this video is making me want to order everything on your workstation lol
Can you set this to control each application's volume in the mixer? Thanks!
Hey great video! Im a industrial designer and i really like this type of products. What do you think about the steam deck as productivity device, to use in programs such as illustrator, photoshop, etc. Btw im impress by the quality of your videos, congrats!
Nice video! Where can I find the wallpaper on your monitor? 🙂
I’m curious, can you comment on what you were using to prop up the device in the shots where it was not sitting flat on your desk? In one shot it looks like maybe your keyboard cable but then in another I can see the cable off to the side so maybe it was just balanced on its edge. BTW, great job on these videos because working in engineering I have all sorts of program shortcuts that all of these devices could be applicable for. Also, I love that desktop background.
Hey thanks dude. So glad you're enjoying the videos. To prop it up I'm just using a cheap "smart phone stand" that I got from Amazon. I want to say I got three of them for less than 10.00 and they're great for propping up desktop gadgets like this one. Hope that helps (sorry I don't have the link)
I just got one after watching this. As a programmer with meetings and such, it looks like exactly what i need. i envision being able to start up my meeting software and close it down automatically. Switch to the programming side and load up a bunch of programs and then close them all down at night. And controlling my music and making calls. I just hope it works on mac which you said it did. I'm excited, it arrives tomorrow :D The last thing you didn't speak of that would make this perfect is that if it can control 2 macs and my iphone at the same time on the different layers ... omg, that would be the best!
I think you're going to like it! Mac support is key for this product because a lot of the users are artists than use Mac OS. You should be good! That said, controlling 2 Macs at once is definitely something I did not test lol.
@@WorkFromHype thanks! Since my macs have virtually the same software, I’m hoping it will work out 😃
For those of us who work from home and have company owned computers, can you give us more details around drivers etc in future videos? If this requires some specific drivers or applications, I may not be able to install them due to software policies on my work controlled computer.
Did you have a preference between this unit and the Megaladon? Have you tried the work louder micro by chance? Cheers
This is the second one of your videos Ive come along during my own exploration of "alternative input devices" haha I share your passion!
Key question Im trying to solve is for youtube tutorials-- is there a way to use this or a DOIO pad to be able to play/pause and scroll or advance forward/backward in some fashion without having to click over to the youtube screen?
Example: Im watching a maya tutorial on YT with maya open on my main monitor, on my laptop Im taking notes in notion. I'd love to be able to pause the player without having to click out and back into the notes or maya application.
ive managed it for vlc using touch portal on an old ipad 4 that was lying around but their YT controls are plimited to the YT music app :/
Could you kindly point me to the keyboard rest you have? I've been looking for a wooden one with a slim profile and I really like your choice.
Is there a way to program a macro on the fly without having to open up the software?
With logitech, you would:
press the macro record key on the physical device -> press the macro key you want to assign -> then start inputting your macro -> press the macro record key again to stop recording
I use this regularly in MS word when i need to quickly format something over and over that is super repetitive that I will only need to do once, or maybe twice. Occasionally i might have to open the logitech software to add a delay if something needs it.
Logitech keyboards are coming with fewer macro keys or none at all. So I am looking out for a dedicated macro keyboard that can do this, however, it is rather hard.
Most macro boards assume you are going to thoughtfully set up your macros ahead of time, and not record them on the fly.
Hey, nice vids! Really beautiful setup:)
Can you help me, what are your speaker stand? Can you name it?:)
It s like the macbook touch bar but one can use it with any computer. Sounds good.
Can this do a combination of functions, like a macro? (e.g. type out an email address, or pre-programmed script).
I also wish the wheel had clicks, having a free spinning wheel is pretty dumb for a device like this.
Excellent video bro… what’s the name of your keyboard? Looks awesome.
A "Stream Deck" is also a great desk item similar to this.
yeah but the cheapest stream deck model is more expensive ($100 vs $60 good condition used on ebay), has only 15 buttons (no switchable presets like this xencelabs remote does and has to use folders to put more on and the stream deck is supposed to SOLVE that problem 🙄), no wheel, and cant be held comfortably. the stream deck must be sitting on a desk and thats awkward. though i could mount it at the end of my chair left armrest...
but then again i could do that with the xenelabs too. and the xenelabs is lighter so its less likely to slough off if my handyman skills shit the bed as usual lmao
While drawing on a screen, its FAR more comfortable (for me at least) to hold the remote and just sqeeze off undos with the thumb (cause lets be honest, these are all just glorified undo sticks 80% of the time lol) instead of resting the arm on the table and having to peck at a button. plus pecking at an unanchored stream deck looks like it would push it around on my fancy glasstop desk. and i wouldnt drill holes or use command strips on a wood one unless it was cheap ikea grade garbage...
the stream deck is interesting though. it needs to be far cheaper. i or anyone else with basic soldering skills could whip one up with a rapsberry for $50 easy (most of that money is for the fancy led keycaps so itd be about $20 for something more sensible and lame) and it'd probably be a far higher quality too if you bought or made a 3d printed case.
cause the official stream deck looks cheap as shit tbh in actual pictures from ebay sellers and not just heavily photoshopped fancy promotional materials.
making a stream deck would be a cool way to learn basic electrical engineering for a teenager and its a cool and useful little gadget too.
What stands are you using to prop it up in horizontal and vertical orientations?
I've tried several macro pads and I'm looking for one with a free spinning dial, a quiet, low travel keys, wireless macro pad to use in my recording booth, this might be it.
Hi woundering what stand you use for your monitor, to keep it out of the way
you should try the razer tartarus for some of these purposes
Excellent review! But I think each of the things you have mapped, has a keyboard shortcut
I saw in the video a kund of stand or holder to bring it in a more upright position. Is this shipped with the device? If not where to get it?
Is it possible to put gif or whatever instead of text for the screen? this seems like my main concern if we omit what you mentioned (the encoder feedback and the tactile bump when pressing a button)
curious on what keyboard rest you are using?
Would love to use this with my iPad Pro and Procreate
I have had one of these for months now. Definitely one of my best purchases! What's that stand that you have for yours though?
It's actually just a cheap kick stand for a smart phone. I think I got this on Amazon for less than 10.00 a few years ago.
Interesting you use the nuphy over your other boards. Any reason why? I see you got one of them endgame alice boards.
