- Episode 3, of my deep dive into KORG Volcas. This episode features the KORG Volca Keys, the poly/mono analogue lead synth, of the volca series. Released in 2013, and still today one of my favorites, with its raw analogue sound.

I have owned the Volca Keys for just over a year, this is definitely one of the best videos I have watched that explains how it works, would recommend anyone who has just bought one watch this video!!
Nice work 👍
Thanks for the deep dive , very informative.
You are welcome!
Cool video, you were really able to create some unique sounds with the ring mod and VCF/LFO. I picked up one of these as my first synth a few weeks ago and I’m really loving it.
Good to hear!
Great stuff! I love my Keys. It's a wonderful sounding synth and massively underrated.
It is NOT underated, they sell them by the millions.
Thanks for the demo, really like what you get out of it, I want one now :)
It can do a lot of sounds!
GNARLY AF!
So many Volcas out there , so many sounds , do i buy a vloca or should i go out and buy a korg monologue or minilogue . mind is over loaded with the choice , but don't know which direction to take. I'm quite new to all this , I love the sounds to all the volcas , Love the sounds from the monologue too.
What kind of music do you want to create?
Awesome, well explained
Whats the probs? Is it to get the right sound, or is it more in the user interface?
@@AdamVoxMusic one long tone! Always like flutter 😂 no joke
@@AdamVoxMusic with keystep37 the same
Hmm.. sounds strange... maybe you have a defect unit? 🤔 What happens with the volca keys if you turn down attack, decay/release and sustain all to zero (turn all the way to the left). Still one long tone?
@@AdamVoxMusic test it a bit later, but maybe defect
awesome! would you share some of your cool patches/knob setups? because I cant get a single note of mines to sound close of one of your notes :-(
I can include a new deep dive in Keys. I think this was the first deep dive episode I ever made, so I think I can add some new aspects on this great unit! :)
Subbed und geliebt, danke!
Nice, love the prodigy's song ! Did you use a reverb or sth else for this demo ?
Thanks! Yes, a litte bit of hall reverb was added to the volca.
I’ve been calling the Volca Keys “The Godfather of the Volcas” but if you want to call it the king, that’s fine with me.
Nice video and beautiful sound design. The Keys is also my favorite. But as far as I know, the Keys only has a saw wave. The LFO has variations but the OSC does not, or?
EDIT: Got it! It's only accessible through the ring mod, right?
Yes, I didn't have time to answer until now, but you are correct: Mode 5 and 6, Unison Ring and Poly Ring is based on Square wave. Mode 1-4 is Saw wave. To be able to select VCO (saw or square) for every mode would be a great idea for a upgrade, but as far as I know, not available as of today.
It s the first time i hear that,,,,,many thanks ‼️
can you balance the volume of moderation and synth? Would be nice and a pleasure to follow the video more enjoyable.
Hi, thanks for the comment! Can and will. I am still learning a lot about recording techniques and editing of videos, so every episode gets better and better! :)
Which mode is your favourite??
I'd have to say Unison. I feel it has the most power and beauty at the same time.
Hi, how could I connect the volca to a midi controller? Would I need a controller with midi out though? I have an Arturia MINILAB MKII
Hi, I have not used Arturia MINILAB so I am not sure. However you will need a MIDI out. There are no USB connections on the volcas (except for Sample 2). I have seen people using arturia keystep 37, but that one has i MIDI out.
I mean. Obviously?
