    To anyone wondering, yeah the Arcade version is actually at a higher resolution at 24khz aka 512 x 400, obviously rotated on its side. It's a resolution that was only available in arcade machines and certain japanese computers at the time.

    Amiga was used as an 8 bit computer on this game

    I love how the Amiga version has a rolling projector sound effect for the intro

      Not always, look for example at Silkworm on the Amiga, outrun on the Saturn, Soulcalibur on the Dreamcast and many many more

      Amiga Ghosts n Goblins better than the arcade game (version)

    • @jimkrom
      @jimkrom Před 2 lety

      @@jasonlee7816 Amiga ghosts'n'goblins ALMOST as good as the arcade, certainly not better. It lacks a couple fo things that would make it arcade perfect, like the ability to turn, face and shoot the other way while jumping. Even if it didn't lack those few minor things, it would be arcade perfect but not better as it has nothing improved over its arcade counterpart

    I own the best home console port of this game, which is on the Master Sytem.

    That boss music is horribly mismatched for the situation. Sounds like it should be for an in-between stage store or something.

    Amiga and ST are almost identical, i think that ST is using hardware scrolling (by moving frame buffer address). C64 is OK but without music. ZX looks like a dirty mosquito mesh that covers the screen, CPC is jerky mess as always, MSX is both jerky mess and mosquito mesh as always.

    • @swapd0
      @swapd0 Před 2 lety

      No hardware scrolling on the ST.

    • @fradd182
      @fradd182 Před 2 lety

      @@swapd0 Yes there is, vertical and full screen only, just as there is on CPC. The start address of frame buffer can be moved to next horizontal line, thus effectively scrolling in the vertical direction. In this case, they would also need to recreate the whole result bar on the right on every frame.

    • @swapd0
      @swapd0 Před 2 lety

      @@fradd182 But you only get vertical scroll with increments of 8 lines, because the address must be a multiple of 256 bytes (it lacks the lower byte address) and one scanline takes 160 bytes.

    • @fradd182
      @fradd182 Před 2 lety

      @@swapd0 Ok, im not an ST specialist, just trying to remember what ive read elsewhere. However, one scanline should not take up a linear block of 160 bytes since ST has a bit-planar graphics, so 1 scanline is mapped in 4 separate memory blocks of 40 bytes. So the formula does not work even for 8 lines because 8x40 = 320 bytes, still not a multiple of 256.

    • @swapd0
      @swapd0 Před 2 lety

      @@fradd182 4 bits per pixel x 320 pixels is 160bytes, it doesn't matter if you have chuncky, planar, or interleaved (ST) planar graphics. Also the planes in the ST are interleaved, word 0 = plane 0, word 1 = plane 1, word 2 = plane 2, word 3 = plane 3, next 16 pixels word 4 = plane 0, word 5 = plane 1

    Ooh. That text comes across as super cringe these days. "Some third world countries were rehabilitated?" All developers & publishers who released ST shovelware on the Amiga with no changes except a better soundtrack deserve a nice bunk in hell. I saved up paper route money to buy games like this only to bring them home to crushing disappointment... It's one of the reasons I just started pirating things. If the publishers weren't going to treat me with respect, I'd return the favour

      You shouldn’t have expected games from that era to be any good especially if they were ports of more capable games.
