i absolutely adore the re-kanken! i just ordered a classic kanken to replace an older kanken no. 2 that i had, but seeing this makes me wish that i had purchased the re-kanken... i may look into getting one in the future & gift the one i just ordered to a friend.
Why did you replace your kanken no2? Was there something wrong with it? I want to get one so that's why I'm asking

Hi! I know you made this video 5 years ago, but I was wondering if you still use the bag and how it is holding up? I just bought a rekanken mini to use as a daily purse. It's very stiff/hard and noisy (crackly, almost like actual plastic bottles haha). Zips are currently very hard to open with the stiff rain flaps. Can't decide whether to keep it or return it. Did yours soften over time? I would actually prefer the No.2 Black Kanken mini (g-1000 is so soft in comparison), which is what I was going to go for, but some people have said it turns brown in a few months, which I would hate. So I'm considering the rekanken in black as the re-kankens are supposed to keep their colour. How is your bag doing? 😊 Does it get dirty easily? Is it durable? thanks!
Hi! Thank you so much for your comment and I’d be happy to share my experience with you. I’m happy to report that I am still using my rekanken and have not purchased any backpack since ☺️. With each wash the bag does get softer but the color does not fade. My bag is still the same slate color after many washes (although the inside white label completely came off, which I dont mind).
I bought a black rekanken for my husband around 2 years after I bought mine and his is also heavily used and washed. We travel with it, use it for hiking, to the gym, etc. and it still looks great. The color also didnt fade.
To clean it, use normal detergent and put it in a washing net when we wash it in the washing machine. Hope this helps!
