I really found this very definitive. It’s wonderful that you have taken the time to create this visual and informative video on quality Leavers lace. When I working as a bridal consultant I found that knowing the types of lace the gowns were made with really helped informed my brides as to both the quality and desirability of the gowns they admired. This educational content really explains the various styles of this lace so well.

A wonderful video, as always! I think that once you see a piece of Chantilly (Leavers) lace and hold it in your hands, you understand why it is called the Queen of laces. It has a grace and quality that just can't be matched. Thinking back to one of your other videos, I can remember you saying that at one time, many of your brides would ask for the eyelashes to be trimmed off, until you explained that they were a mark of quality, and a leftover from how they are worked off the looms. There is so much to learn about this beautiful lace and its manufacture that once you do, it's easy to understand why it is so expensive. Because there are so few leavers looms in operation and the process of creating the lace is so time consuming, Raschel lace has become a more cost effective and affordable alternative to Chantilly laces, particularly the gossamer type of Raschel lace. It's so sad to think that there are only three lace mills still weaving on the authentic Leavers machines.

Loved it!! Thanks for sharing!! When you said the difference is the eyelash I was thinking that. When I worked in a bridal shop years ago you’d see the real stuff all the time and we’d glom onto any leftovers to use because it was so scarce. But now you can purchase anything anywhere from Guipure to Alencon to Chantilly!! Thanks again!! 💕

Thank you Brenda! I LOVE working with lace and the fine laces are truly an investment. Thanks for sharing the beauty and differences in these laces.
I also was wondering if you have certain website you order bridal fabric from? The pandemic has dried up a lot of my usual sources!

Thanks for sharing, I have a gown to hem with similar levers lace. The scalloped, eyelash edge is about 10 inches wide, which I have to shorten the dress 12 inches. I can't hem it by the waist as it is all one piece. I told my bride I will have to slice into the lace layer, in order to take out the 12 inches needed to shorten, then splice it back on, matching the motifs as best I can, which will distort the design. I can't separate the motif from the tulle, as it is embroidered into the tulle, but will do my best to organically replace the hem . Do you have any suggestion as to a better hemming idea? Thank you in advance.

Wow, I’m so ignorant on laces. I know crocheted vs knitted, but that’s all ;-)
