The Story Behind Kacey's Disastrous NFS Most Wanted Video!
Came for the Need For Speed, stayed for the mismanagement and scams.
That’s all there was, expected from a 50k channel though 💀
@@xehP content is still good for a 50k channel
@@xehP I've seen lots of channels with even less subs with really good content. Subscriber counts don't make the quality of a video, it can have an impact but that's besides the point.
@@someguy1865 either your standard for content is piss poor or you're intellectually inept. I've seen way better content from 50k, 50k isn't a small number.
@@xehP compared to channels of 100 thousands to millions it's fairly small. Nonetheless it's one's opinion on how good content is on a channel. Not here to change your belief. (100k is considered first milestone for a playbutton on YT)
Very proud to own a physical copy of this 🙃 It's basically Big Rigs with tuning, but interesting to see the controversial history behind the dev team. Rip Bozo Sensory Sweep LLT... or Studios... or - ah forget it
sensory shit studios
The game's handling reminds me of Stellar Stone's first game Taxi Racer
Most wanted on the ds is basically big rigs ported to the ds just with just need for speeds name slapped on it
you mean... *ahem* The Church of Latter-day Saints? 🤔
Still way better than Big Rigs though. At least it has SOME kind of collision system.
this story went from "Most Wanted - the DS port" to "Most Wanted - the effing incompetent CEO"
considering the port, it sounds about right
When you develop Most Wanted, you become Most Wanted
I am ashamed to say I played the hell out of this on DS back in the day. Even recommended it to friends. I am no longer friends with most of those people at their request.
That probably was a bad idea to do
Well atleast you clearly enjoyed it, why be ashamed 😭
First racing game?
🤣🤣😂
The studio’s story is more interesting than the actual game being discussed in the video
I think Sensory Sweep were definitely in touch with Pocketeers since the DS version of MW has the same music, blacklist and car list as the GBA version, it even has nearly the same 10 tracks with the same titles as the GBA port and 5-1-0.
Having spoken to devs from both 5-1-0 and GBA, i think these were directions and resources provided by EA. Neither studio was in contact with Sensory Sweep
Strange because the GBA version has a near identical career as the DS version
I absolutely love how your narration style is calm and polite and then it cuts to you playing the game at 4:51
uh oh a swear
I liked the part when the main character said "it's speedin time" and he speeded all over Razor, truly one of the racing video games on the DS
#SensorySweep
None of us expected the rabbit hole to go this deep lol. Best 20 minutes I've spent today
Sad to say I 100% the DS version YEARS before I ever 100% on PS2. Really interesting story about how this came to be, as well as all the legal & shady shit happening. Great vid, Kac! 💜
You did what?
What is this comment .
im so sorry
This guy is "I 100% the DS version" no waaayyyyyyy
i still havent beat the ps2 version but i did beat this one lmao
I must regret to admit that I not only completed the game in it's entirety more than 13 years ago but I replayed so many of the races with maxed out cars that the credit count actually includes letters because it's so high. I didn't really mind it as a kid
didnt replay it that much but i did beat it
Man, I had this game as a kid. So glad flash carts were a thing back then, I can't imagine how sad I'd have been wasting a Christmas/birthday gift on this 😂
Ah yes, *Need for Speed Less Wanted.*
I actually played througth that game. TWICE. In my defence, the DS was for the longest time of my childhood the only peace of electronic, where i could reliably play games. (Mostly Pokemon Mario Games and other racing games), since my old computer, where i played other racing games (mostly NFSU2 and Juiced), simply broke and i needed to wait 6 years, until i got a new one. so the best pivit was my ds.
The irony being more people watched this than played the game and I’m so sorry for all the hardworking people caught up in this nonsense. ❤
Wow, that story was one hell of a ride! Thanks for sharing it with us Kacey!

"This seems very dull"
"YES."
Sounds like something made from two random voice lines for tf2, love it
I remember having this game as a kid and I loved it cause it was my first need for speed
I luckily completed it lmao it took me a good while
I also had it, but i also had nfs carbon own the city and prostreet, the latter of which is objectively the best of the DS racing games.
I did not like it as a result but hey.
If it was your first game, you could only go up, as the games you play can only improve
510 was my favorite, nfs ug gba was good too
The thing I don't get is, if EA knew how bad this port and studio would be, why didn't they just reskin Underground 2's DS port and make a game from that? That would've so much better
i actually loved this game as a kid, although tbf i didnt have many games on my ds
edit: yes I've completed the game, twice
Careful... He's a Hero
In 2007 or so my DS lite and a copy of this game (along with 3 other games) was stolen from me as a kid… looks like that actually worked out for the best lol. Didn’t realize how bad it was, I only played it a few times. I would’ve put in more time out of lack of options as I didn’t get games often, but I never got the chance bc of this. Parents ended up getting reimbursed from the guys employer as they were working on our house when he did it. Got a psp and a bunch of games in the end
I love your videos! It's nice to see someone talking about underappreciated (sometimes for good reasons) games. I'd love to listen to you talk about ridge racer unbound, lots of people use that game as a punching bag but I find it to be a pretty interesting game, mostly because it's made by the flatout people
lol, right after posting this I noticed the very first comment I saw said basically as same as what I posted, oh well.
I love the Ridge Racer series. Unbounded is not a Ridge Racer game, iirc Bugbear was working on it before Namco came knocking and slapped the Ridge Racer name on it. Before though, it would have been a rather mediocre game, it's not amazingly good, but it's competent. I enjoy it myself, but god damn it having the RR name hurts. I do agree though, by Kacey talking about it would be interesting at least!
@@NytroDesigns imo RR Unbounded felt like a Spiritual Successor to Burnout Revenge than being your ordinary Ridge Racer game
It starts with a bad game and ends with a story of a fraud going to prison and then becoming a con. Cool
Love your videos!! Keep up the good work 🙌🏻. I would like to know what do think about Ridge Racer Unbounded.. That game was so weird lol. Thanks for the sacrifice
Also I wish I had that concept DS that Reggie held up at 9:27. Such a cool looking model.
Yeah i wonder where that specific prototype is, it looks way cooler than what we got in 2004
Detective Kacey in da house! Damn this goes very deep. Great video! I imagine it was hell getting all of it together
If Kacey's next video takes even longer to make, we know who's responsible.
I remember as a kid, getting this on release for $80 - I actually only pulled it out the other day on my DS and I've still got my 100% complete game save on there.
What a mess of a game.
If I were you, I'd go hunting for my 80 bucks, you got majorly ripped off
You paid how much? Good lord.
@@r0b3rt_959 that was RRP for DS games in Australia
@@MatWilson2612 that's almost 130 Aussie bucks in today's money. 85 USD for americans.
@@r0b3rt_959 it'd be eve equivalent of buying a game for $50 USD back in the day. Gotta remember it's before we all had smartphones, I was like 12 when I got it.
Did that cop just drop an entire porch with nails stuck in it and call it a spike strip
Great video, I love hearing about stories like this. A more pressing question, though: what Windows theme is that in the final screenshot? It makes me nostalgic for Windows 7
it's windows vista, the operating system made before 7 and after xp.
was notorious for being incredibly buggy and unstable and not much people actually used it
@@foxymoron7337 I know it's based on that era, but I suspected from the taskbar that it's a Windows 10 custom theme which mimics elements of Vista and 7. Was just curious which one
@@TheLimboOfTheLost ah right, can't help you with that, sorry maybe just looking it up on google or something you'll find... something hopefully
That was a bizarre start to the video, given how I freaking loved this game as a child and thought this would be a nice trip down memory lane...guess I'm in for an interesting retrospect as an adult!
Hi, Utahn here, we have one of the highest rates of people falling into MLMs because of the church. If it's not a Mormon at your door when someone knocks, it's probably your neighbor that got sucked into sentsy or some other MLM
The phrase "negative ion" set off a ton of alarm bells! That crap quite often includes radioactive thorium powder!
Always look forward to and enjoy your videos 👍
When you showed the mug shot, I imagined the guy is impressionable and tried to be most wanted in real life
This video was wild, could you do a review of LA Rush next and cover the Starforce DRM included in the PC version?
Will you ever make a Ridge Racer video? Would love to see someone bring more attention to the series.
I’ve been thinking about it lately
I know I'm in the minority for this, but I loved the port. I likened it to a cross of the old Hot Pusuit graphics with the gameplay of Most Wanted and must have finished it 3 or 4 times. I still have my copy in storage, waiting patiently for another playthrough.
I like this port too. And I still have my copy and occasionally play it.
The moment you mentioned they were from Utah, especially SLC, I was waiting for the LDS to show up.
Finished the entire game on my own. Shortly after, my Nintendo DS vanished completely out of my house for good.
I dont even remember how it did.
I've personaly completed this game around 10 years ago, when I was about 5-7 years old, unfortunatly, I deleted the save file and i'm unable to complete it now, but yes, this game is really hard
I remember when my main platforms were PSP and DS, and I was so shocked how bad is the MW DS after I was enjoying U2 on DS
What's the song playing at 0:12? Swear it's from a SNES Simpsons game.
it's from Most Wanted DS
Lol this is quite literally the epitome of "We have Need for Speed at home"
Man, actually living in Utah makes this story much more interesting imo.
and as an exmormon, learning about Hal being a part of the church does not surprise me at all
Nice work of research ! Thank you for the video :)

I’m very proud to an actual copy of this very game. After playing the original on my PlayStation 2 when I was little, I wanted the same for my DS. I was very, very disappointed. I still have it, in a random blue plastic 3DS case. You know those? With the four game slots?
Had to double take the timeline, when i saw that JB footage haha, you play on the hell clan server?
I don’t play often, I actually hopped on specifically for the footage! But yeah I enjoy JB and I think that’s where I was for this
I can just imagine little Timmy being all excited, that the new NFS game released, and while he only has a DS he still has the ability to play it because EA are just so nice and want everyone to enjoy it. And then he loads the game and is greeted by this:
I still have the cartridge and yes… I finished it, I remember the last stages of the game where horribly difficult.
Clearly, they've given you severe brain damage.
Absolutely loved this video! You should do more niche deep dives 😅
I still remember when I got this one as a kid alongside my DS, good times hahaha
I do remember getting stuck on some parts but I somehow managed to finish it back then, I don't think I could touch the game these days.
i finnished this game back in 2006
i was 12 and didn't know any better :P
Interesting and well made video, good job 👍😊
Fun-fact : Even the GBA version look better then the DS version.
At least for me.
and the JAVA version too
I finished this game as a kid, and all it took was indeed waiting for the opponents to get stuck in a wall
One of your best videos ever, keep up the good work :)
Nice outro music, gotta love a bit of Matt Ragan :)
that timer using half the screen was actually helping us
“The madman on Gamefaq is the only person to ever beat this game”
11 year old me: *raises hand with shame* I beat it, somehow
I love how much the rose tinted googles worked for me as a child. I had this before I had the PC version and i just now realized how awful this was.
When I played this, I was at a age where I did not care about the looks or shabby gameplay. I remember having lots of fun with it. I miss those times.
Wanna hear a tragic history?, when I got my ds back in 2009 this was the only game I got for almost a whole year... my mom and dad thought one game was enough for a lifetime.
I spend so much time on this game I actually mastered it. My dumb ass wanted to beat the whole game with the first car because I got attached to it I think it was the vw golf, of course I couldn't beat the game with that thing it was complete garbage but I somehow managed to get to the 10th or so blacklist race through weeks and weeks of trial and error
My god...
My first DS game, got it with my DS on my birthday :D completed it almost twice... due to savegame corruption, a real piece of quality right there XD
I was a teenager when Most Wanted came out. I've never played it. Last NFS I remember was Carbon and then didn't really play again until Heat.
I remember i asked a Senior of Sensory Sweep LLC, whom i will not name to ask them about what happened to them and they said that time management was a big problem because they had quite the DS-Experienced team, but he said that the problem is that the Designers don't know how a Racing game should look or feel like, especially on the DS, and that they tried Pocketeers' NDS Underground 2 but still couldn't understand how to make a good game like it, and ended up wasting a lot of time building a game engine and wasted too much time thinking that they decided to rush to meet deadlines
I had this game on my DS back in the day, I honestly didn't think it was that bad, it was really watered down and controls kind of hard but that's more or less expected on a handheld.
didn't think i'd need a bag of popcorn for this rabbit's hole. great video as always~!
14:14 I was half expecting to hear mail fraud in there somewhere.
My dad found this game at his work. He gave it to me when I had a ds lite. I didn’t know what it was 😅 it was fun for me. I know it’s bad but memories
17:24 didn't this company appear on George Russell's helmet in 2020?
That NFSMW DS version looks like something i could've Made in blender
I don't know how tf I managed to complete this game when I was younger.
I actually owned this port lmao. This video's soundtrack brings back so many mediocre memories!
I did finish this game too. And you got that right: if you've played 1 hour, you've played the whole game. Endgame was non-existent.
Now knowing the whole story, it all makes a whole lot more sense.
what is the game in 7:11 ??
the fov is what makes it feel very slow. try it in any modern game, lower fov slows the sense of speed
woah...how did I finish this and actually enjoy it back in the day?
I remember buying it due to my love to the series. My hopes were high and shatered immediately.
I remember finishing the game but only because my parents will not let me buy a new game, so I was stuck for a while with it. I lost the cartridge but still own the case with booklets and everything.
In the end, ds was a pokemon machine for me and Im sure it was for many as well 😅
Had this when I was younger. Along side the ps2 and the psp version. It was pretty fun at the time but plagued with save data issues.
Do you plan to review the other Need for Speed games for the DS or is it redundant when Dustin Eden already made a great video about them?
Unless you have something very different to say that he didn't
"I am stupid and also dumb" I relate to that so much lol
Before the DS came out I had a bad ass promo booklet that showcased the device but there was some false advertising. One of the upcoming games was nfs underground 2, with a screenshot of the actual console game. I thought it would be and direct port and I can't describe my excitement at the time.
"This seems very dull"
"Yes"
🤣
When you mentioned spike strips. The console counterpart did capture the behavior of spike strips. While the DS conversion these things are overpowered. From high speeds to stand still. It'll get you very effectively. Instantly busted you. Guaranteed And WTF moment.
The psp version runs laps over this 😅
I hate Sensory Sweep. Mostly because of Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi: the Genie and the Amp. But it’s nice to know they never really hit the mark with any of their games.
I prefer Most Wanted 2012 to 05, but even I can’t get any enjoyment out of this.
Finally, Kacey upload a video :D
I'm happy c:
when i was in school they let us wear "drunk goggles" and shoot a basketball after a drunk driving presentation. just taught us drunk bball seems kinda fun
it would make more sense just to have kids play this port. it is *NOT* fun. almost as painful as real drunk driving
I remember grinding this horrible port because im a huge fan of Mw...weird journey. Completing it didn't really feel like a accomplishment...all I got was boss vinyl for the car. That's it
I did complete this game too. I was like, 7 when i got it. Revisited it a few months ago when i found it in a drawer. Stopped after two races, wondering how i actually managed to beat this as a child.
7:09 - 7:19
can someone tell me the name of the game and handheld console using it?
That’s Killzone Mercenary for Vita
@@Kaceydotme do you know the others that i I'm highlighted between them?
Ridge Racer Vita, Modern Warfare Mobilized, Madden 09 DS
@@Kaceydotme thanks. i knew why it was so familiar
Kacey why do you use windows vista
Is that Windows Vista or just a theme? Either way, nice.
I've had played this game when I was younger and I didn't think it was that bad, and would you believe me if I say that had beaten the main career mode?
This will always be shocking to look at
I see, the hot pursuit 2 music at the end hits hard.
So juicy! Thanks for doing all the digging!
that was a nostaigic hit. still can't belive the GBA port was my 1st MW game.
I some how beat the GBA and DS port.
My first GBA game was NFS MW and for a long time my only cartridge on that system. I spend hours of my teenage years playing that game. Makes want to unleash my DS to play it again.
@@pabloaguirre7472 the one thing that I loved and hated about the game, was the sound track. The sound track was stuck in my head for so long
Having played this just last week I just wanna say it's even worse to actually play than it is to just look at and that's just sad
Wow what a story you are a true detective I've immediately subscribed 👏
