This will always drive me nuts that they stopped him. They should always let someone finish a good audition. He has lots of versions of this song, but none of them carry the emotions he captured in this performance. When he says "bestfriend...." instant chills.

He performed this song almost two years ago. And it still feels new. I've never heard anything like this. By far the best Idol audition ever. Only thing I hated is when they stopped him from singing. His own song. Passion, pain, sincere expression.... When my ex-fiance and I broke up, I realized the role I played in losing her. Tried to get her back but she was fed up. Right or wrong I lost my best friend. As much as I love this song, sometimes it reminds me of losing her.

The judges saw a platinum track being sung right in front of them and they all wanted that man's song so bad and it was killing them inside cause they knew they couldn't touch his version it was to raw and pure. He left smoke in that room. What inspired that song was real love most know nothing about! I saw God all over that man!

Just found this guy today after watching a clip from the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. I stopped watching American idol a few seasons ago, shame i missed this guy, he is really good! And the song is great! I hope for nothing but great things for Hollywood Anderson.

I stopped watching American Idol after he went home. Those judges obviously don't know what raw talent is! I love this song.
The problem is, the guy didn't take it seriously. He failed in his next song choice, great vocals aside, few people can really match adele, hollywood anderson included. Next in the team round he put forth no effort and it showed and he barely got spared. Lastly, they finally cut him because his final performance was just safe, he put forth the minimum effort of what he thought would get him through. I love his voice, i love several of his songs, but he went from a homeless nobody to a proficient guitar player with kickass songs in a year out of nowhere...the guy honestly wouldn't actually last in mainstream industry. As garbage as much of the music is these days, artists have to work their asses off to stay relevant or the next new person takes their place with a similar song.
This song is such a blessing. This could be someone's wedding song, engagement song, or just because I love my friend/husband/wife song. You are extremely blessed by GOD. I look forward to a chance to buy your future album. I also look forward to seeing you in concert one day. You will shut the place down and have everyone in tears. What makes Hollywood Anderson's audition memorable is the fact that he channeled his emotions into creating something beautiful. To be able to express your love/pain/strength in a medium (music, art, poetry, etc.) which elicits any kind of emotional response in the observer is what it's all about. This song gave me goosebumps❤️. Kudos to Hollywood for baring his soul on national television. It's stories like his (in addition to my own experiences) that guided me to become a social worker. While there are many who look down upon addiction, mental illness, homelessness, etc. they only add to the shame and stigma attached, not the solution. There are so many people who have amazing talent, but don't have the opportunity to express it.
PS- JLo was sweet, but this is his song and story... If someone else was to sing his story, it wouldn't be the same. Rock on Hollywood🙌🏼
And while I know some people like certain versions better, it's what he feels in the moment that surely effects how he sings it. That's the beauty of singing!

What makes us feel the way we do is what some singers and rappers lack. He is not singing us just a song, he is telling us about him and that connection alone is putting us in his shoes to where we fell in love with our best friends. And that is awesome

I heard this song on the August Alsina radio on iTunes, and absolutely fell in love with it. I knew it sounded familiar, but I came across this gem today and it dawned on me that I've heard it before.
