Do you play a lot of bangers or are you the banger?
I hate playing against bangers!!! I am definitely not a banger. I mix it up between dinking and power. I donât lob either. Lol.
@@jimackerman6343 is lobbing no good?
@@JV220 I donât practice lobbing, so Iâm not too good at it. I noticed the pros donât lob too much. It seems like they get into a dinking duel until someone makes a mistake.
banger here and topspin lobber thx for videos for the commonman !
I bang hard
"Shoulder high, let it fly."
Great simple, clear instructions. Thanks gents. "Paddle out front" is my new mantra.
đ
Thank you very much guys I learned a lot with you.
Thanks guys, clear, straightforward to the point. Really useful đ and helpful tips
Thanks, good tips and quarter zips
Thanks learned a lot from this videoâŠ. Iâm a 3.0 so most of the people I play are banging it at meâŠ. My problem is keeping the ball down, and not giving them the chance to bang. Also would these tips be beneficial to a singles player, I mean I know they would but what is the ideal position for a singles player while playing a banger?
Wow! Great video. Thank you for your wonderful tip lesson. I'd like to be there.
Thank you again.
Excellent tips! And I like how you are to the point and demonstrate. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Them quarter zips are sickkkk. Definitely buying one asap
love you guys,,,, use this all time
Thank you very much. So many bangers out there, even when you get into 4.0's. Thanks again.
There are also bangers in the pros. Banging/driving is fine as a weapon, and I believe should be in our arsenal, as long as we also can drop/dink.
Yes need a variety of shots. I know a lot of bankers who canât even begin to adopt a soft game
Thanks for good ideas
Keep it up guys. I appreciate the tips and tricks.
Love this.
Thanks! Great tips đ
Love the 3/4 Zips !!!
Good instruction!
Great tut. Thank you guys. I face a lot of bangers so this tut was excellentâŠ
Great advice!
Thanks!
They are understated great players⊠good 4.0s âŠkidding much higherâŠ.instruction is solidâŠ. Like it
You guys do a good job of showing the various shots and strategies.
Thanks Michael!
Thanks Michael!

The quarter zips are fire đ„
Thanks đ
Awesome videos !
I was a competitive tennis player butt a rotator cuff injury has pretty much ended that. This sport looks fun and it seems like it might be easier on the shoulder. Never have played, but am going to look into it.
Itâs so fun. Give it a shot. My friends and I played soccer for last 20 years. Finally retired and needed to find another fun thing to do. Itâs so great, we play 2x a week. Lots of 70 and even older people play and theyâre great. We hope to play into our 80âs!
You will not look back...
Much easier on the shoulder
Grandpa just subscribed, you young whipper-snappers !
Woohoo! đȘđ
will you have a video on how best that bangers can beat dinkers when learning besides drills of dink? just strategies or such ? its a big learning curve with drops and stuff .
We will try to add that to our schedule!
Great tips!
Thanks!
Love the shirts and the design
Thanks! These quarter zips are on limited supply. Email us at pickleball221@gmail.com if you want one đ
Excellent
Hey guys, I am curious to know whether you guys have tennis backgrounds, because your low-to-high follow through looks like a tennis forehand groundstroke. Are you basically using fundamental tennis groundstroke and volley techniques for pickleball? Is the technique the same as tennis? Thanks!
Hey Lisa, we both have tennis backgrounds. Elisha is also PPR certified in pickleball. Some of the fundamentals transfer from tennis, but there is a decent amount of technique that differs in pickleball. đ
OVI!
Hi, do you guys typically put lead tape on your paddles? If so, how much and where?
We currently donât, but considering adding some for more control.
Nice video!
Solid video
Thanks Rocky!
The problem I have on third shot drop is high enough on the bounce they power over a top spin right into me from maybe 10 feet from me.
We have that challenge as well!
Less arc on your drops ⊠the ball will bounce less on the other side
Same problem here. I think the third shot drop is the hardest shot by far- too short and you're in the net- too long or high and the bangers can tee off on it. What I've seen some people do is hit their third shot a little firmer (but not bang it), so that it doesn't have as much arc or high bounce, forcing your opponent to hit it back from below the top of the net. They'll have a tougher time hitting it hard, or if they do, they'll risk hitting it out of bounds due to the upward trajectory when they bang it from below the top of the net.
Either way, this kind of firmer 3rd shot drop still gives you time to move up after you hit it and then when you're hitting your 5th shot from closer to the kitchen line you should be better able to dink it over, as you're now closer to where you want to be and your opponent's shot shouldn't be a big drive (hopefully). Much easier to write it than to pull it off, but something to consider :-)
My Father in Law says I play a power game so I think I'm the banger. Lol. Fun game, glad we've discovered it. Really easy to pick up.
Love it â
Wow....I didn't realize those banger ones are soooo easy to be out. Now I know, and I won't try so hard to defense. LOL
The 1/4 zip looks great.
Thanks!
When and where will they be available for purchase? Will we be able to get them in Canada? Thanks
If you are a small or medium we can send you one now. The rest of sizes will be in within the next month. Email us at pickleball221@gmail.com.
1/4 zips look nice
đ
You made that look so easy
what about the person at the NVL (the defender) dropping the ball short w/ a slice punch drop? i would think that would be a great neutralizer to a banger standing on the back line.
Jackets look good.
How do you differentiate between bangers and drivers?
Pretty similar. Iâd say bangers are hitting hard a bit more frequently, and itâs less controlled than a drive. The drive may be hit slightly softer and with some spin.
I've heard both approaches against bangers: keep them back and force them into a soft game at the net. Which is correct?
Canât both be good options??
Both are used in the game.
Both are needed! Itâs good to mix it up if you can đ
Lot of 4.5+ tennis players coming into the game and donât have the soft game, so they like to stay back and rip them. They are the ones I like to hit the drop (or cut) volley so that it bounces twice in the kitchenâŠthen the banger has to lunge and dash forward, either messing up or popping it up. Hitting deep to this type of player is what a coach once said, âYouâre feeding the beast.â
Good drill
Hi Justin, we used your Engage discount code a few months ago and wonder if you have any other discount codes now. A friend wants to buy an Engage Pursuit and I said Iâd try to get her your discount code.
Hey Jim and Kelly - try 20Ancona
Let me know if that doesnât work for them.
Nice quarter zips
Which paddle are you each playing with in this video?
Looks to me like the Engage Pursuit EX and the paddletek tempest wave
Engage pursuit EX 6.0 for Justin. Paddletek tempest wave for Elisha.
I play a lot of bangers who bang on the kitchen line when all four players are at the kitchen lines at the same time. Any tips on this ?
The best thing you can do is to be ready for it and try to hit dinks that sit up high and prevent them from attacking.
Chest high, let it fly!!!
What paddle are you guys using?
Justin is using the engage pursuit ex 6.0.
Elisha is using paddletek tempest wave pro
Shoulder height varies, dependant on the player. What height would you say, (in general) should a person be, for this to apply? (Shoulder high, let it fly). Iâm 5â3, so my shoulders are a little low.
Depends on how hard the ball is hit. In general, Iâd say 5â4-5â9
@@PickleballJourney thanks. Instead of shoulder high let it fly, maybe for shorties it should be âat my ear, go have a beer?â
Lori, heard this one today...above the titty no hitty!đ€Ł
When I play a guy that does some banging I see his windup and I'm like AGHHH!!!! (internally) Gotten hit pretty bad too. Ouch. I'm getting better at keeping that paddle up.
Does everyone hate bangers! Lol

Are you guys playing at the US Open tournament in Florida?
I wish! We both have trouble taking time off with our busy work schedules. Are you playing?
@@PickleballJourney unfortunately no. Iâm working as well and itâs only a few hours away from where I live, The Villages!!! Pickleball is amazing here!
TOTES ADORBS THE QUARTER ZIPS.
So no loose grips soft returns
I always tell my son anything higher than your underarms, that is hit hard, will normally go out. When you are on the kitchen line⊠anything that height farther back just avoidâŠitâs definitely out!
My returns would start with down to transition zone down the middle of court. Why? 75% it will land to no man's land and confuse them and this will be considered an 'attack' to their back hands and may result in a pop up.
It would be nice if you had a real banger in there that can bang and keep it in⊠which is to say keep it low. Iâve never seen with my own eyes someone competitive thatâs banging the ball consistently high and far. Top spin can be brutal.
Youâre moving along to slowly. Thanks for the tips.
Sounds really wick, put up the volum please.
A banger is someone that was sent a ball asking to be banged!!!
All of my friends and i came from tennis. All the guys like to bang too much and these are the tricks I can use to slow the game down.
My new go to channel for tips!
Glad you enjoy it Scott!
My first advice playing against bangers,.. wear a goggle. Lol!
What's a banger? Never heard that term before #1.5rating
We refer to bangers as players that hit drives extremely fast. Generally with not a lot of control. These players tend to be more comfortable back hitting drives instead of moving forward. Hope this helps, thanks!
Iâm on the fence which way is best, keep them back or block it so they run forward. I know your inviting them to kitchen if you block which is not what you want to do, but honestly I get so tired of playing bangers if all your doing is keeping them back you become a banger too. Iâd rather just get everyone to the net where we can start the game. Bangers bore me.
Check out our most recent video where we discuss this đ
Do you beat the bangers? Singles? Doubles?
@@JV220 if I can get them to the net then itâs a win win situation for me at least. They arenât comfortable at net and I can usually beat them, if I try to keep them back Iâm playing their game and I want them to be in a place where they arenât comfortable. Bangers only bang if it works, as soon as they see itâs not working theyâll target your partner, if they know how to block too you just took all their power away.
What ball is that?
Franklin balls
Shoulder high......Let it fly! Thats my saying
For sure!
What about a kitchen line banger
Stopping a slice
Funny intro. I canât help but think itâs grandadâs sport. I take table tennis lessons from a guy. The guy I take from has played pickle ball 10 times and is better than anyone in the club that plays next to us.
The fundamentals and foot work are the same for both sports.
Shoulder high, let it fly..
âRacquetâ??
Grampa, grandson? Yo guys, u are young! You must know that women play pickleball too!
Grandmas, granddaughters, wives, we donât discriminate! đ
Racket? You mean Paddle.
Pickle ball bangers

Sounds like a 1980s porn title.
Shoulder high ?
Let it fly...
Why do you want your weight on the front of your feet?
It gets your weight shifting forward which prevents you from moving or falling back. And you tend to react quicker if on your toes vs heals
Easy: do what most cowards do and hit it to their partner and avoid them.
Hey knock it off with the ageism commentsâŠlolâŠmy grandson does even know how to play PickelballâŠ
I am just joking⊠kindoff
Bull
I donât know, I like playing singles, and I like everyone to play to winâŠ..you want to run to the kitchen immediately everytime, fine, but itâs within the rules to bang--no tears. Same with the guy thatâs too fat to move ( did I say that?) he shuffles his way immediately to the kitchen and I lob one deep over his headâŠ.and thatâs cheating tooâŠ..seems to be lots of cry babies associated with Pickleball! Love the sport, canât stand the crying.
Yes, Iâve noticed a lot of whining about bangers - almost always from players that arenât capable of hitting hard and/or have little success against them. If Iâm banging and winning, Iâm not going to play soft just to conform to the âright way to playâ
Bangers need to play tennis, not pickleball.
Keep your shot low, period. Itâs not rocket science.
Easier said than done for some of us.
