    I’m ok with the rear drum brakes. My 2020 off-road has great brake performance with them. Now with that said I do think that Toyota didn’t do it for a better experience, I think they did it to save money and try to keep the price lower. However this decision wasn’t totally a bad thing though as they work great and last a long long time.

    Nice video Guys. You are right. Don’t need the TRD Pro. Taco is a great truck. I drove one for work a few years ago. Not the most comfortable truck in the world but dependable and gets the job done as a work truck.

    I agree that the TRD OffRoad is the way to go. Since I've owned my 2020 Tacoma I've had one panic stop, and one oh shit stop. Both were controlled and stable. The truck performed like expected. Rear drums are fine with me.

      Yeah, I like drum brakes better. When I work on contraction sites and have clay and mud on brakes I can still stop. With disc brakes I don't stop right away and hear grinding noises from rocks and clay between the brakes.

    In Canada I purchased a 2020 trd pro tacoma in manual for $50k. (list price $53k). The offroad with premium package, (leather and some goodies, no new headlights or other musts) was $46k. The dealer said he had more flexibility with the trd pro. If you can't afford the Pro I understand, but no way can you get the exhuast, headlights, wheels, shocks, lift, rigid foglights, special color and badging. Just the resale alone justifies buying the pro. I have never regreted getting the best. Go for the Pro

    Nice review...I own a 2019 TRD Off Road - LOVE it on and off road! The truck is like a german Shepherd (I deal with high end GSDs) - they are not number one in anything, but they are in the top quartile (usually top 5) in most everything.
    The one thing I probably disagree with you on, is saying: "a lot of people just overlook the Tacoma, just not realizing how capable...". Considering the amount of tacoma's sold - comparative to other Mid/Small size pickups - I don't think many (actual) consumers are overlooking this truck. I do agree however, that most people will never realize the capability - as most will never need/use it to that degree (I do actually). Again nice review.

      I have a long-bed off-road with premium package like you. There is an "LED Headlights with LED DRL + Black Bezel" option with an MSRP of $485. The dealers in my area seem to order most of their Tacomas with that option.

    What about the long bed vs. the short bed. You prefer the short over the long? Is the long bed more useful?

    • @PerformanceOnWheels
      @PerformanceOnWheels  Před 4 lety +1

      Styling wise I definitely like the short bed more. However if you are trying to get the most out of the truck then the extra room could be quite beneficial. If it your daily drive that you might use as a truck from time to time I think you will not regret the shorter bed. If you are a weekend project warrior or using your bed on a normal basis, I think you will find the extra room to be a welcome addition.

    You are talking about modding to be similar to the TRD PRO. That doesn't explain why it is a better truck than the PRO. What about the leather interior of the PRO.

    • @PerformanceOnWheels
      @PerformanceOnWheels  Před 4 lety +1

      This one has leather🤷‍♂️ the view point was you can have a unique Taco for far less than PRO. Yes with making modifications. The pro is awesome not denying that in the slightest.

  • @GhettoFabulous670
    @GhettoFabulous670 Před 4 lety +1

    Plus the taco comes with more features for its price. Think of the nissan frontier. Similar price. But the interior has so much buttons, small screen, and looks outdated in and out. Same goes with the new ford ranger. Nice truck, a lil more rooms. But doesnt come with all those features and updates that toyota did especially for how much ford is asking for the 2020 ranger.

    • @PerformanceOnWheels
      @PerformanceOnWheels  Před 4 lety

      Ugh..... I can't even compare the ranger or frontier. They are like crossovers with a pick-up bed in my opinion. Just do not like the look personally. To me the Gladiator and the Tacoma are the only capable trucks (that look good) in the midsize class.
