In 2018 lost 120 pounds on a meat only carnivore diet. I have been working to maintain that weight loss ever since. December 7th I had an extended tummy tuck (skin removal) and diastasis recti muscle repair. I recorded my pre-op, pieces of the surgery, and documented a lot of my recovery for this video. Let me know if you would like to see more follow ups and ask in the comments any questions you have for me.
I also documented things day by day on Instagram and have the whole journey saved to my highlights. If you are looking for more details on my surgery and recovery you can come find me on Instagram @lauraespath

Laura I had this exact surgery 37 years ago, and listening to your journey brings back so many memories for me. I remember the extreme pain of having all my tummy muscles fixed. At the time I was working a full time job and took the time off to have the surgery at a very respected hospital. The one thing I was surprised about and a little shocked at the time is that my health insurance covered the whole thing. I loved the results and was really thrilled with the outcome. But this surgery even though I was young was very difficult but I never regretted having made that decision. Congratulations on everything you have accomplished and the encouragement you have given to countless people. 💕

You’re giving great info, And it’s very needed ❤ The ONLY reason to have this type of surgery is to because YOU want it, and I was so happy to hear you say that.

If I was younger I'm pretty sure I would do this. I am 71 years old, and I just don't want to put my body through any unnessary trauma. I've read that the general anesthesia is damaging to brain cells, and at my age, I feel like I need to preserve all I can. 😅 But it sure would be nice to have that flat stomach! You look great!

I've considered it, though my extra skin is maybe not quite as much as some, & is mostly from carrying pregnancies all out front w/a short torso. I do still have the "flap"/roll of skin, but when I'm at a healthy weight it's not so bothersome. I gained about 40lbs during first few yrs of my menopause *decade~ because that's what it truly is, imho~ which made the extra skin more cumbersome as it filled up existing fat cells. Weight loss after menopause? Now there's a challenge!
(*Didn't do any HRT, so that may extend things as well?)
I agree~ it would be a bonus to have that flat stomach, yet at 58 yrs old, I'm not inclined to put myself through elective major surgery. That being said, I think if I'd had a chance to do such in my 30's~ oh, heck yes =)

I hid my drains in baggy shirts in the arms. I only took pain meds for 2 days and slept in chair for 2 days. I feel my recovery was very easy and I started lifting weights again at 5 weeks. I never wore any compression . My doctor didn’t recommend it. It was a great reward for all the hard work! Thanks for sharing your story.

I think it’s fabulous that you did the research and had the surgery done on your own terms after all that great research. I mean you could have gotten a rhinoplasty which would have been all about vanity, but your tummy was way more important to you. And the tummy is not a vanity thing but a wellness or well being process. I totally understand … I think you are fantastic and tell everyone I know they must watch your channel!! Wow, that pic of you with the blue pant suit with the mid drift looked stunning! Thanks for sharing all of this and being so open and honest about everything. On a side note, I used to LOVE going to the tanning salon, it just made me feel so good, sadly, about 4 months ago I ended up getting a squamous cell cyst that had to be cut out of my rear end! It scared the heck out of me and it wasn’t a pleasant experience at all. I am Spanish and Armenian so I’m not super light skinned to begin with, so I was pretty shocked this happened. Anyway, I miss tanning😢that’s all.

And a flat tummy! I got spayed because of stage 4 endo, and I got 7 weeks off work. I had to have the big scar from left to right, but it is very low and healed great!

i did that surgery after 135 LB lost but just skin removal was needed. My muscles are good though i do a lot of cross fit and core and abdominal exercise. My surgery was covered by Kaiser and cost me $50 out of pocket. i was back to work in 5 days and it was fine. I live on me own and never took pain meds after. I was fine everyone is different.

Hi Laura! Glad to hear you are doing great 3 months Post-Op.
I’m also 3 months Post-Op. My surgery was Dec. 1st. I’m curious if you ever had or currently have areas along your incision line that have developed small marble like hard lumps?
I’ve been getting scar & lymphatic massages on a regular basis since I was cleared to do so by my surgeon but am noticing these small marble like lumps (about 4 of them) located together along an area of my incision. Just curious if you had them as well or not.
I’ve been told they can sometimes develop and will go away on their own in time. Fingers crossed that happens. They aren’t noticeable on the exterior but I can definitely feel them when i run my finger across that area of my incision.
I’ll be talking to my surgeon about them soon.

Hi Susan... 🙋‍♀️ I heard about Carnivore, the BBBE Challenge Dr. Ken Berry, I decided to investigate it and Laura's CZcams video Journey was one of the first ones I viewed. Saw couple of others but I was inspired by her so I have been on Carnivore for two and a half weeks and I have lost 10 lb.. It really does work!!!
I still have quite a journey to go but I say all this to circle back and THANK LAURA, also to order the LMNT tthrough her link in Gratitude for everything she does to show us the way. 🙌💖🎯😍😊

So happy for you and your recovery. I started my carnivore journey last year on 9/1/22. As I near my 60th birthday, I have lost almost 60 pounds, and am very near my goal weight. I had gained most of my weight over the last 5 or so years, so thankfully I don't have much of an excess skin issue. As someone who had spent so many years in the tanning bed, please please, give it a more thorough think through. I am now chasing the skin doctor having moles and tanning related issues dealt with. It is enjoyable but it too has it's own risks.
