I recently bought one second hand from a seller who buys them in bulk from multinational companies who scrap them, with a 128 GB SSD and it cost only around $200. I have to say I am really impressed with its performance and battery life.
I just bought 4 of these on ebay for $110 each, and they came with 180gb ssds, i5 2.8ghz processors, 4GB of RAM and batteries, only missing the AC adapter (which are another $6 each). I already bought 2 from the same seller for $125 each, they are AWESOME, they are even capable of Playstation 2 emulation. All 6 of my nieces and nephews (ranging in age from 7 to 10) will be having a PC Christmas. It has bothered me for a while that none of them have their own REAL COMPUTERS, considering I had my own at age 8. Sorry, but an ipad and xbox are not PCs.
I own an i7-3520M (2.9ghz) version myself, and I don't notice any difference between it and the i5-3360M (2.8ghz) version. SSDs are a MUST though, like night and day.
That's awesome! Great price, and very generous gift. Agreed, when it comes to productivity a laptop is way more complimentary to getting stuff done. Tablets and phones are great for consuming online content and light work, but it's very cumbersome to hammer out long emails, papers or multi-task on a mobile device.
Recently, I acquired this model (HP Elitebook 2570p); and I am very pleased with the acquisition. I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit (Originally it came with Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit, and previously it had Windows 10 Professional 64 Bit). This computer works like a marvel, with the Fingerprint Scanner, Turbo Boost; and Bluetooth 4.0, which I very much enjoy using. I also like its classic look and colours (Black And Silver). If you ask me, I'd say James Bond would've had one like this one.
Bought this used 5 years ago. Still using it as my main laptop, hooked up to 3440 x 1440 monitor, no issues. Mine is an i7 and recently have upgraded the hard drive to 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM. Shame can't get 1080p panel for it.
I don't like the keyboard as much as the ThinkPad keyboard, but then when you've used a certain keyboard for several years it's hard to adjust to any other! HP provides what they call "3D Drive Guard" for the EliteBook 2570p, it's mounted in a special way to reduce shock and does also have an accelerometer built in like ThinkPads.
thats great, at least they do have hard drive reliability measures. seems like the build quality is fairly solid as well. just too bad about the keyboard, programmers may not be so happy. i'm personally not a big fan of the look of the unit either but that's personal preference.
I haven't used an HP business notebook since 2006 and I have to say after using the 2570p I came away impressed at how nice the build quality and ease of upgrades are, even down to upgrading the processor which most other manufacturers would never think of making possible. Now, I still favor my ThinkPad keyboard and pointing stick but frankly I'm so used to those now that anything else feels strange and an adjustment.
but does it have: 1. a thinkpad quality keyboard 2. a pointing stick as responsive as a thinkpad (most HPs and Dell business class machines i've used have much laggier pointing sticks), and 3. active hard drive protection based on an accelerometer?
The 2570p didn't get too hot in my usage at all, the right side was the warmest area and it stayed well within comfortable range. Workstations are a different story, I don't know how the larger EliteBook "w" series do.
Actually you can use The expresscard slot to plug în external gpus so yeah. Also you can get any i7 quad core but The problem is the overheating but it can be fixed by limiting The processor to 35w in throttle stop. Also i7 3920xm works but limited at 45w.
oh yeah, these run a lot hotter than thinkpads too. it's kind of funny how hard HP and Dell have tried to make their business line to at least match lenovo/ibm's but they never quite made the cut it seems
Excelent review! The only thing I still couldn't figure out is how to do the print screen. I mean there's the button, but when I click on paste it, nothing happens. Great video, thank you!
@@LaptopReviewsDotCom I´ve just tried both, and neither made it work... And Greenshot won´t let me uninstall it, it says it can´t uninstall because it´s running, but it isn´t, I´ve closed everything and still won´t uninstall it... 😐

Sarah Moon, it depends on your ram and specs, you should search up the minimum requirements for the game as well as the specs of the laptop and compare.
The 2560p came out in 2011, the 2570p is just the upgrade that came out in 2012. Besides the 2570p having slightly faster processors, they're almost exactly the same.
Sounds like a decent deal, if you're buying from eBay make sure pictures are clear and pay attention to the cosmetic condition as well. You don't want a laptop that's really beat up with a lot of dents and scratches. Also make sure to confirm with the seller it's in good working condition.
If you put enough RAM (memory) into the laptop it will perform fine for Photoshop, the processor isn't the fastest when compared to the most current processors but Photoshop really relies a lot on memory for its speed so adding say 16GB of RAM will help a lot.
I want to get a laptop for drawing that I'll connect my graphics tablet to draw on, will it work? The one I found 2.5 processor 320hdd and 4gb ram refurbished
@Blue B Thing is, where I live these gadgets are much more expensive for a refurb6one I'll be paying up to $300😬😬 but thanks for the tips though they are so helpful
Only if you reduce graphics settings to medium or low. If you have more RAM then maybe playing games that are a couple of years old on high settings is possible.
You'll be able to play some older games on low to medium graphic settings, but not the latest Far Cry game or other new releases that use intense graphics.
eh, that's fine I have a ps4 for those sort of stuff just need to know if it works for like, Minecraft, League Of legends those the only two pc games I actually play on the PC, But someone said built to last is that true? Do you still have it?
I don't have this laptop anymore, but you could definitely play Minecraft or League of Legends with the Core i5. It's a business notebook so the build is good, take care of it and it will last your a few years for sure.
I would not say it's good, it is old at this point and does not have dedicated graphics. However, it could be fine for playing some older or less demanding games.
It can, but make sure to upgrade the RAM to as much as possible since PhotoShop and AutoCad rely heavily on RAM. Having an SSD will help too. The processor is old but still powerful enough to run both of these applications.
I've never tried that but based on what I know there's no reason why not, you just have to connect to the XBox from your PC and the system requirements are basic, this laptop would meet them.
You really need a dedicated graphics card to run that game smoothly, but the EliteBook 2570p has Intel Integrated graphics so I would not expect the game to run smoothly.
I’m totally amazed at the level of detail that this gentleman put into this presentation. Very very very well done!

Ugh the lack of a scroll button in the pointing stick button cluster is a deal breaker
