- The standard range Model Y really impressed me and will be more than enough for most people. I cover what my experience was like driving this for a few days.

One thing to add; the max charging speed on the standard range model y is 230kW compared to 250 in all of the Model Y variants. I made a mistake saying they were the same in this video.
Have you watched any of brandon flashes videos?
DO NOT BUY a 4680 Model Y
The peak charging yes is 230kw
But it tappers off
And the overall curve is horrible.
2x as long to charge versus a 2170 model
Was here to say the same thing! :)@@mathieusturkenboom
People just need to chill out on dissecting the battery details. Range isn’t an issue as long as you have a good level 2 charger at home. I have the 2023 Performance and it’s a rocket, great car.
Yeah, the charging curve on that 4680 model y is horrendous. If you don't road trip am sure it's fine as a daily, but if you road trip frequently, that charging curve is the worst in Tesla's lineup. The model 3 rwd peaks at 175kw and has a way better charging curve, in addition to charging faster from a amount of time spent waiting at the charger and mph gained in super charging.
@@Kareem-cx4fi personally
Of the build quality
Is superior
Id still choose the 4680 since i supercharge once in a blue moon.
I looks like tesla cancelled their 4680 cell projects
It was supposed to be the fastest charging cells ever and cheapest
And now
Nobodies been talking about it for a while.
I just bought the RWD Model Y up here in Canada and while it has 30 miles less than the American made SR, it has the LFP cells that can be charged to 100% and its frankly awesome.
Nca and ncm is better than lfp especially in cold climates and you’re in Canada. L. Should have stuck with the lr. Charging it up to 100 everyday is not good same as any other batteries. It can handle it more than the ncm and nca but it’s not recommended or healthy to charge it every year for every year to 100. Common L. It should be charged 90 regularly not 100. Just wearing out the battery faster than normal.
You Should have got the performance. I have the 2023 model and it’s a rocket. And gets the range. People need to chill and simply realize, the range isn’t an issue one way or another as long as you have a level 2 charger at home.
@@Fumbiii16 The LFP models are the best selling models here in Canada. The community consensus is that winter range is totally acceptable thanks to the heats pumps and other improvements. I based my decision on what locals are saying including my neighbors who also have a lfp model.
You can charge NMC batteries to 100% also.
@@Fumbiii16wrong. Tesla recommends to charge to 100% at least once a week for the LFP batteries
My first Tesla was a 2021 Model S LR, with 405 rated miles. My second, and current Tesla is a 2022 Model Y LR, rated at 330 miles. For the majority of us, it doesn’t matter, because my bladder needs emptying before I run out of range. Plus, Tesla Superchargers are fun to experience, so we look forward to stopping. Don’t get me started on how much more relaxing it is to stop more often for shorter periods!
hahaha I actually get mad when I have to stop before a charger
you got to stop cappin, no likes to stop to charge
I bought a M3SR a year ago. I can charge the LFP to 100% and I get 250-260 real world range in mixed driving - and if I only drive it around town I get almost exactly the EPA range of 269. The worst range I got was last winter on a 200 mile, 75MPH drive on a frigid, very windy day. So I stopped at a charger and in the time it took to walk inside, use the restroom, pour a cup of coffee, pay for it, and walk back to the car, I had almost 100 more miles of range. Unless you can’t charge at home, routinely drive an insane number of miles and live in an area devoid of fast chargers, this kind of range is absolutely fine. I honestly NEVER even think about range now, just like I don’t think about it in my gas car.
I got my M3 SR+ in March 2021 for just under $40K out the door, including red paint. LR was +$10K more, and the P was $14K over the SR.
I have just as much fun, get all the OTA updates, have access to the Supercharger network, and get all the perks and benefits of the EV lifestyle - plus saved myself a boatload of dough in the purchase, AND the daily operation (it’s so damn efficient!).
Don’t sell the SR short just on the numbers on a spec sheet. I’ve been across the US and up and down the West Coast in my trusty SR!
Great video as always. 👍🏼
sorry for your $$$ loss, 'bro. Absolutely brutal.
Well timed. For those looking for the SR, there are a few left in inventory at substantially discounted prices. This model has now been discontinued.
Sold my 2021 MY 5 month ago, just bought a 2023 MY 4680 out of texas. Build quality is a world of a different. Doors have solid feel when closed and it feels like a solid car instead of a tin box on wheels. Going from 1 to the other i cant tell the difference in speed. Much quieter, hw4, screen is nore snappy and i think its overall much better. Taking it on a trip to ohio from central florida end of October. We'll see how it goes.
I appreciate the info you provide for all your videos.
Picked up our standard range last Saturday in Glendale. Austin build and love that it has the matrix headlights and premium sound system for a standard range.
Having had a 3LR for 18 months I feel the range is irrelevant. It doesn't really matter if the car does 220,250 or 300 miles. I stop more often than that and actually enjoy the charge stop and have a proper break.
Totally agree with an addendum. My 3 is the LR RWD. On long trips I can keep the battery in the perfect zone mentioned by Jeff Dahn for battery longevity, thanks to the range of that car. Around 75 minutes is all I want to sit in the car before getting out. A shorter range LFP would also be good for this style of travel.
Had an opportunity with my MYLR this past weekend, a road tip where the interstate distance was 168 miles out and back for a 336 mile journey. Average speed was 70MPH resulting in 3.96 mi/kw vs rated efficiency of 4.4 mi/kw, a 10% loss. I did the same trip last year in a hybrid with a personal average MPG of 42.8. My Trip MPG for the same route was 38 MPG, an 11% loss. this is comparable to Out of Spec Reviews 70 MPH test on the MYLR.
Maybe try a longer road trip and see how your experience pans out for the charge experience, that would be great to compare to Branden's model Y standard Range, Branden's experience with charging infrastructure and understanding is top of form, he has a excellent understanding of the technical details when it comes to chargers and charging! Your channel and his are on my favourite list of CZcams content!
We have a 2022 RWD Model 3 and absolutely love it. Sure, it has fewer miles of range than a Performance or Long Range Model 3 but that doesn't matter as much in our use case. With reliable SuperChargers all over the place coupled with charging at home it just a super easy car to live with. We roadtripped it ½ way across the US and back with zero issues. The ability to full charge the LFP battery often is an easy sell to someone whose experience with batteries is limited to a laptop or a cellphone. For us, it's less about the overall range but more about ease of charging. Great video.
I got Model Y SR and price difference of 7K between SR and LR was the sole reason i went with SR and 50 mile difference is not a big deal! I feel SR built quality is better than LR that i test drove.
I drive a 2020 model three, but we rented a 2022 model Y on our vacation to Hawaii recently. I was very impressed with the quietness and the comfort of the Y. Def my next car if not the Cybertruck.
I like your videos. I will get my basic MY in November with the LFP BYD battery from the factory in Berlin. Charging to 100% is no issue and gives almost the same range Tesla model Y long range at 80%.
I drive an original SR from 2021 with only the rear motor. In the summer I usually get better than the rated range if I keep my speed down. With ordinary driving I still get around 90%
You can easily get the EPA range if you’re willing to drive 70mph or less. We get 270 miles on the nose every charge commuting (which keeps the speed below 70) in our RWD Model 3 but if we head out on a trip and kick it up our range suffers. Typically during the commute we are averaging 180watts a mile. On a trip at higher speeds that jumps to 240 to 250 watts per mile. I have also noticed if you need lots of heat or AC from the HVAC you will drop efficiency a bit as well.
I just got a 2023 Model Y LR. I tested it and if I drive at 65/70 miles an hour I do get 330 miles range. Now the car is brand new so I will see what happens over time.
I have delivery day on my first tesla, a MYLR in 5 days and i cant wait 🤩 your channel is the reason i choose the car and you are by far my favorite creator when it comes to tesla content! Let me know if you ever come to Norway 😎😁
Thanks for the video. Here in Australia we're lucky with the Chinese built MY standard range, to have a CATL LFP battery not the 4680 cells used in the North American version. I don't find the range a problem at all as we purely do city/highway driving and always charge at home using off peak electricity at just over 8c/kWHr (5.5c US) so with solar, it costs us virtually nothing to charge. Great car. Very happy we went with the Tesla MY. I find 0-100 kM/Hr (0-60mph in US) fast enough!
I have this car and after 8k miles no battery degradation, get about 85 percent of advertised range without babying it. On city streets avg 240 wh/mi. I have driven to vegas 5 times and have had no issues with anything. Its ride is more comfortable than any model y I have driven. It is plenty fast and the range has never been a problem at all. 1 stop from la to vegas. Ride is very quiet even with the radio off, I actually have 0 complaints since buying this car and I'm trying to find things i do not like. My fuel savings is 5/1 over my ice car. Charging speeds can be slower than other MY's that is maybe the only drawback.
Agree to all the points, love my SR Model Y
I opted for the SR model Y largely because I go on very few road trips so the extra range is not important to me. Every two months I do a 210 mile daily round-trip from Palm Springs to Anaheim via a stop in Redlands. Starting with 100% charge I complete the trip with around 20% left when I get home. So for me saving $3000 on the purchase was a no-brainer. In addition, I have found good use for the rear shelf, not included in the LR model, when parking with packages or luggage that I do not want to be visible The build quality of my 2023 is exceptionally good. I literally could find no problems with the fit and finish. I agree that Tesla’s hype over the 4680 battery was a big nothing burger. I am taking some risk that the 4680 will hold up as well as the 2170 battery, but so far so good.
Exactly my thoughts and happy with 4680 Model Y
2023 Y Performance about 280 wh/mi rated. Smooth mixed driving in SoCal can get close. freeway 60mph level ground autopilot well below 200 wh/mi.
303 rated range on 21s ride is firm but not harsh. I think Performance is a great value over base-looks performance etc
You better grab the MY SR while you can, because Tesla just took it off of the configurator
Did a road trip from northern CA to Scottsdale AR recently, I chose my V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee over my Tesla 2022 MYP with free SuperCharging. Again EVs are great for around town and short trips and 0 - 60mph in 3.5s never gets old.
Great video. Did you ever consider driving at 55 miles / hour to testing the mileage? I don't think any car was ever tested at 80 miles / hour.
I traded my 2020 MY for a 2023 MY SR back in April. The car is vastly improved over my 2020. The suspension is much much better. I also don’t really notice much of a mileage range “loss” between the 2. Realistically I get about 230miles on my SR w/ the 20 inch wheels. I’m happy w/ the SR
Good to hear! Based on your experience of both what is the best improvement on the 23 on the 20?
Received my 2023 MY SR in May w/ 19in wheels (using Cybertruck Hub caps I bought on Amazon). Yielding roughly avg 247 wh/mi and 300 est range HWY at 73mph / 310 City. Glad I got the now unicorn MY AWD aka MY SR before Tesla removed from the online config.
@@Gjeebs the suspension, and the overall premium feel of the car. It is a lot quieter inside the car as well.
Like others have mentioned - it'd be highly advisable to do a charging test and record it compared to your LR so you can confirm what we all believe - the SR charging curve is horrible - could it be fixed with a software update? I would imagine YES!
The new t-shirt slaps, love mine
Glad to hear you like it! I agree it turned out better then I imagined
Great vid as usual. The sr teslas are beasts. There’s no such thing as a slow tesla and i wish my wife would get the new m3sr but she wants a myp
Inter webs say the charging curve on the 4680 is slower and the range is less. Not sure if it matters when road tripping as there are so many Tesla chargers. Make a purchase “from existing inventory” and the price drops even more.
We got the LR because of the discounts in the Mid Atlantic. Basically got ours for the price of a SR.
Driving my MYLR while watching your video kept making me think my blinker was on 😂
You are right. If u drive fast no good for range. I am actually able to achieve EPA on my model 3 but no fast hwy driving. Strong ac can take about 5-10% too.
"Why? Why is it not accurate? If these are the best electric vehicles why are the displayed range not accurate and it's accurate in every other electric vehicle" Comment of the year #truth
The EPA governs the reports on the range, not Tesla. Take it up with them.
Each automaker decides which EPA test to run. Clearly Tesla uses the test cycle which greatly inflates the range whereas the Germans car makers tend to under promise and overdeliver. Ideally there should be 1 test cycle so you can compare apples to apples.
*SR Model Y ?* Guess what Tesla just removed from their order page!
video is already outdated at 12 hours old
As a former Model Y LR owner, I’ve found that not only is the advertised range very far off from the real world range, but some other cars, like my current 2019 Audi e-tron, have an Efficiency mode that dramatically increases range, including automatically switching the AC to an Econ mode (but allowing you to undo that), lowering the car’s ride height and so on, resulting in far higher ranges on long road trips than their advertised range. So in my case, the official range is 209m. But in the real world, if I go on a road trip and stay at 65mph on highways, my range is 290 miles. This is a longer range than my 2020 Model Y Long Range had in the real world at 65 mph at the time. If I’m not in efficiency mode, my range is definitely somewhat less than the Model Y’s was, but since I have a home charger, that really doesn’t bother me. Tesla should stop the false advertising, but they should also invest in better more tech for efficiency driving on longer road trips.
I wonder if Tesla's HW 3 board and cameras are using up more power than competitor. Also the 17 inch screen.
Picking up my MYSR tomorrow, so I really appreciate this review! Got basic everything except red multi coat paint and price was $45,200. Still feel pretty good about that pricing and makes me enjoy the purchase even more. Plus the $7500 federal tax incentive - it’s a win. ❤
That's great! Enjoy it!
Great deal, got SR couple of days ago for 44K and 7500$ incentive. Never thought will be buying Y for less than 40K when it was going for 67K last year.
@@Rpp92898 yeah, just talked to a friend that took delivery in December 2022… needless to say, I didn’t say anything about the great price I got. 🤐
I have a ‘22 MY LR, and get about 270 wh/mi long term average over 12k miles. I can get 250 wh/mi, but I have to be driving below 70 mph, averaging 60-65 mph at mixed freeway speeds. Real world expectations are about 180 to 220 miles at 70 mph driving 80% to 10%, depending on wind, and cargo weight. Which isn’t bad, but I wouldn’t believe the numbers Tesla promises for my Tesla on 20” wheels.
0:57 The range is entirely dependent on speed and acceleration. The state of charge indicates that he achieved the expected range at 45 mph. I drove 450 miles, with a maximum speed of FSD 85 mph, which required 3 supercharging stops. When I limited the maximum speed to FSD 80 mph, it resulted in 2 supercharging stops. So, it's clear that speed significantly affects range due to aerodynamics.
speed, wind, and elevation are the biggest range killers
With the discounts available now, the difference is more like 2K compared to the long range...Long range is better by a mile
Did they discontinued the SR model Y? I don’t see it anymore on the website 🤔
Is this Awd standard range or the newer RWD variant?
Is this a 2024? I'm looking at the SR with 19'' and Black Interior and they are all different prices. What's the difference if I'm filtering with the same options?
The more you charge the more important FAST charging is. Most people with kids on a road trip only want to stop for a few minutes to get the driving out of the way. That said yes they will stop to eat. So if the car could do 400 miles real world range that would fix the issue. Drive until it's time to eat. Charge speed would have to be quick enough so after eating a mcdonalds meal the car is charged. So that's 30 minutes tops
Really..... What kids do you have that can sit for 4 hours without a break. Or any human for that matter? It is not healthy.
@@b4804514 wow did it several times going Chicago to Florida. They sleep alot.
McDonald's?
@@qman66 had to pick a place people know.
Smaller battery = less time to charge
Thanks for all the videos Gjeebs.
Do you know if the range is measured in chill mode? Or does chill mode increase the range?
Chill mode increases range a little just because it reduces the power being used while accelerating.
@@Gjeebs Thanks, I finally joined the tesla family a few weeks ago with a MY LR. Out the door for 39,749 (Cali taxes included).
Very cool-looking shirt. I bought one!
I totally agree on the range claims/announcements. They truly do suck. I still love my Model Y Performance 2022 (does ride a bit rough) and would only recommend a Tesla. But more range would be great! AND more accurate range and more range.
Also agree that a refreshed Model Y will be awesome! However used car prices will tend to suck forever. Oh well.
Percentage display is always more accurate than misleading miles/km left. I am also pondering on waiting on a refreshed MY, but it may take 1.5 yrs.
I took SR because I belive 4860 will be charging much much faster in future
Range range range It is just a talking point that DOES NOT MATTER. People drive 30 to 40 miles a day. Take a trip once a year. If you drive it like you sole it the range goes does significantly. It was not designed to drive 85 all day long and be efficient just like and ICE car
"Tesla is the best electric vehicles, why is the range estimate not accurate". Like... do you listen to yourself? It's called an estimate for damn reason, there are so many factors that can affect the algorithm.
Tesla website says the std range model is 0-60 in 6.6 seconds, not 5.0 seconds
Make sure you save some cash for a model 3 highland performance or plaid or whatever they call it.
Should be a sweet ride.
South Priest, left on W Warner, I-10 North ramp, off on S 40 ST left into PIXA... dear God I need to get out more!
I have this car and absolutely love it. The trunk cover sucks and the windshield wiper cleaning spray is terrible but other than that I have no complaints. I wish Tesla would make a 4680 model 3 AWD.
100% agree on the BS mileage numbers. We need to start a campaign to get that changed. #mileagehonesty or some such thing.
On your comment about range anxiety going away when more superchargers are installed, I think that’s only half the issue. Charging needs to be faster. If the range doesn’t improve or goes down and I need to charge frequently, it had better be faster or it will continue to be a frustration point. The charging experience needs to be similar in timing and frequency to an ICE vehicle if you want buy-in from the masses.
Did you adjust your suspension to the softest setting?
Also, did you put 18" tires to further soften the ride?
Currently not on the softest setting have 20" wheels as you can see and high performance summer tires
@@Gjeebs it sounded like you really hated your Tesla's harsh ride..?
Is there a reason you didn't try these options?
I came from a 2004 350Z. Super harsh ride and you can feel every bump on the road.
So my 2023 model 3 performance felt like a really nice, soft change... That still handled really well even though there was slightly more body roll.
@@Gjeebs i feel like you made the wrong choice of not choosing the mountain pass performance coilovers though.
Everyone seems to be saying the MPP are the best in the business, yet you sound so enthusiastic about the UPs.
I know there are a lot of EV owners with small bladders from what I am seeing around the web, but I would simply prefer the 300-400 miles of real world range over the ubiquity of fast chargers. Charging takes way too long, even in Teslas. Moreover, charging will become even more of an annoyance once EV adoption rates exceed ICE vehicles; sitting in a queue for charging is not the best use of time, which totally negates faster charging speeds.
Charge at home and chargers very rarely have a queue during the day. Perhaps you’re in an area where there are few chargers but i have never been in a queue here in southern california.
@@dadman9492 yeah, of course charging at home is what most EV owners are doing, so that’s obviously not an issue. I am talking about the many experiences outside of home charging.
80% will charge at home. Which is less work than plugging in your phone to charge
@@b4804514 I assure you my argument wasn’t the use of at home charging, that’s quite obvious. To ignore the away from home charging experience is just disingenuous. I own an EV, I am not a detractor.
About to buy my first Tesla and have been going back and forth (and switching cars in inventory as new ones pop up) between MY LR and SR. Right now I'm signed up for a LR, it's about 4K more. Two biggest worries I have about the SR right now are: 1) slow charge speed documented by others and 2) having to stop more often than I otherwise would (according to ABRP, roughly every 90 minutes for some sample trips that I planned). Is there any reason to think from your anecdotal experience that the SR would for some reason be more efficient, and come closer to "rated" miles, than the LR?
It's lighter. 19 inch wheels are a must for confort and closer to rated range. Wheel caps help 3-5% as well. Unless the trip is more than 350-380 miles, when the time difference will be insignificant, the SR would be the best bang for buck. AC consumption/weather conditions and altitude difference make the most difference. Also, if range is truly important and you don't need the practicality/extra volume-storage/high-calories person space/ground clearance + 1.18 inches, the M3 SR is now best bang (550km, 340 miles).
unless you road trip all the time the difference in charging time for me is like 5 minutes on a 20 minute charge. Also degradation seems to be better on SR. Nobody I know that drives LR gets 85-90 percent of advertised range...more like 70-80. Uphill kills the range more than anything, dramatically affects range.
model 3 with the 18's are the way to go
What’s the horsepower and torque on this model?
so, the US version of this RWD model Y doesn't come with LFP battery, but 4680?
I have the same car. Very quiet and comfortable. I do wish I had stayed with my original order which was the long range version. I think Tesla needs to work on the charge curve on this car. It is not great. You can still road trip this car easily, but I wished I knew about the difference in charging when I bought it. I’m guessing you will find the same issues. Have fun with the car. Thanks for the videos.
agreed speeds are slower but I have noticed people with the LR have had worst degradation, I have not had any. I do supercharge often as well. Maybe the slower speeds is better for the health of the battery...it's noticeably slower after 65 percent.
I only have 5K mile so far. Still rated range but the only way to know is run it from 100-0. It’s not a problem for me I do 95 percent lvl 2 charging anyway. I have a M3 AWD had it for a year Teslafi said it’s gained 1.2% since new so I guess no range loss there who knows. The model Y is definitely much quieter. Model 3 but much more fun to drive. Both are to fast..
I have a feeling the efficiency has to do with the newer heater that’s in 2022+ model year could be wrong maybe your model y has it
My 2023 Model Y LR 7seater just died yesterday while it had 254 miles of range left. I needed to use it later in the afternoon and the car wasn't connecting in the Tesla app nor was the keycard able to open the car. It was dead sitting on the driveway with less than 5500 on the odometer. Tesla sent a 3rd party tow truck and driver said he tows a bunch of teslas per day and 5 of them had this issue today. He jumped the 12. volt lithium ion battery and said this battery overheats and shuts itself down. the car was driving fine after that. 3 hours later car is unresponsive again. I've had a bunch of new cars before but none died on me this was a first and surprisingly at just 5500 miles.
Let us know if the fix was to replace the 12v battery. What was the temperature that timewhen the car died?
@@Trust_but_Verify Yes it was hot temp was in the 90s. I contacted Tesla roadside assistance again but was told to pay few hundred for towing to service center since (according to paperwork) I was advised to drive car to service center instead of it being towed however I don’t recall the tow truck driver saying that all he insisted on was that I drive the car around for 5 mins which I did while he waited in his truck. So since I declined to pay I have to schedule service and jumpstart it on my own and drive to service center.
@@Trust_but_Verify update cars high voltage battery controller was replaced and it was working fine until two days ago it was dead again with main battery at 74%. I jump started and left it at the service center. At this point this vehicle is very unreliable luckily it has been dying while parked on the driveway so I had the jump starter in my garage to unlock and start it otherwise no point in even carrying a jump starter in the car if traveling since car would die and stay locked.
Interesting, I’m planning to get a Model Y but since the new reports is slow charging speed on the standard awd im thinking the LR could be the better deal for long term ownership, what you think ?
If the cost difference doesn't bother you then go with the long range
I test drove the Austin vs the Fremont and the Austin car is much more solid feeling. It drives differently, rides differently. The giga casting IMO make a huge difference in the durability of the car. It is 3 pieces basically to make the chassis all solid inflexible.
I just checked their website, they are no longer offering the SR to be ordered new. They are still offering it in inventory
I got my LR as inventory with $3000 off, now they same trim is only $2000 off
when looking at the difference of SR vs. LR on the trip planner it looks like the LR charges a lot faster. Goes from 40 minute stops to 15-20 minute stops. Does that sound about right in real world?
not that much difference....from first hand experience if it says 20 min on LR, SR would take 25
I bought the Mazda CX-90 PHEV Hybrid, 500 miles later the car stranded us twice on the side of the road, then it refused to start. The dealer told us it needed a software update, which is three months out, so under the lemon law they are refunding our money, should take 3-4 weeks.
Sorry to hear that. What are you going to replace it with?

We have ordered the 2024 Tesla S, delivery is on the 27.
Why are the 0-60 speeds so different in different countries. In canada the RWD Model Y goes 0-60 in 6.9 seconds and the Long Range does 5 seconds. But ythis guy is saying the RWD does it in 5 and the Long range does it in 4.8.
Good for you, Tesla discontinued MY SR.... So, people still can get it from existing inventory, But there is non for Massachusetts area.
Tesla is the only EV choice. They are fantastic!
No LFP, confirmed today sitting in a RWD
Therefore clipping top 10% and bottom 5% against the 260
Yields 221
I have M3RWD for 272 yields 258 miles
221 vs 258, huge diff
We need LFP in this MYRWD asap
SR was discontinued today… 😅
Need to drive one. The ride on the '22 MY was horrible and made me choose another car.
10 k difference here in Canada! Got the SR!
How is your experience in winter?
Do you offer your referral code to your subscribers? Helps them and helps you! Just curious.
Yea it's always linked in the description
Got 6 shirts in my first order but they seem to run a little small. Will try +1 size next time.
You can return them within 3 days if you aren't happy as well
I've been cranking out roughly 800-1000 miles a week in my poverty edition model y, no real complaints yet. As far as range goes there are enough chargers in the area for it to not really matter.
hahaha the poverty edition is the car of the people
Are you going to be making more stops on road trips, so that’s your trade-off if you’re OK with that
In latest models variants I think model y as same battery pack in RWD vs AWD…lithium ion…
Would you ever go back to an ICE car? I am in the marker for car right now and looking at the BMW 230xi.
Just got model y austin build. It has been great do notice when I use a Tesla supercharger the battery drains way faster vs when i charge up on slower charge point.
Did your Austin build come with HW 4 / high-definition camera? I think the estimated charge % is not as accurate when it got fast charged.
Yea i have the upgraded hardware. Overall love my Y
The 4680s are just the dimensions, they are now playing with chemistry, they are gathering data on the existing releases.
Plus the battery is smaller than the long range. If it had the same size battery, it would get more range than the LR.
But you sacrifice Premium Audio in the SR correct?
They are identical except car range!
Tesla is still top EV because of it charging network. But the competition already has in some cases better VEHS overall just not as good charging network. Once solid state batteries or some other more efficient battery comes on line then they may lose the lead entirely.
wonder if Tesla's gonna be available in green in the future, like AM or BMW green ;)
That would be awesome. Tesla needs better colors
👍
Europe gets 7k EUR (~7,500 USD) from MY SR to MY LR, blue paint costs 70% more (1,600 EUR vs. 1,000 USD) and so on. Damn...
Man 2 days after i take the delivery and now Tesla has removed SR from its website 😔😬
Here is Branden's gripe with the Standard Range Model Y charging czcams.com/video/op8azOazHZ4/video.html
Awd SR has been discontinued at the moment
Hey kid your funny! 😂
Interesting... I checked the Tesla website, and the SR Model Y has disappeared. Only LR and Performance is available to order.
Yes they just got discontinued. Looks like they believe it’s related to the Cybertruck that’s going to release.
Thumbs up.
Inability to acceleration boost is lame. They don't say that on the website
The best EV is the cheapest one you can find for local driving or a $25k Tesla.
I do not think the 4680s are at endgame yet. The 4680s are supposed to be solid state. If Tesla was mass producing actual solid state batteries it would be huge huge news. My guess is right now they are just putting normal battery guts into 4680 form factor.
Austin RWD no LFP
China RWD into Canada has LFP
