  • I researched Titusville, Florida before we moved here and felt overwhelmed by the negative feedback about this area. We still moved here - my husband is employed with the space industry in his dream job - and we like it! This video is for any of you who are relocating here (or live here and want to brag on their hometown) so that you know that this is a pretty cool place to live.

    I moved from Ohio to Titusville 32 years go and I have always said, "Titusville is the Best kept secret in the state of Florida". The People in Titusville are wonderful, caring and sharing folks who, for the most part, work together for everyone. The Indian River is stunning;especially when the moon glistens over the water. There are many parks in the area to take the children and grandchildren . We even have a splash park ;-) The Wildlife Refuge on the east side of the bridge is so special to see with the wide variety of birds. It's a must to see in February before many birds fly back up north. I personally enjoy the ride to Haulover Canal and view the Manatees on the other side of the Hauler Canal bridge. While there are many beaches on the east coast of Florida, Titusville has a Natural beach with beautiful Sea dunes and a view of the Kennedy Space Center. There is able parking with public restrooms.
    The location is PERFECT! Titusville is 45 minutes east of Orlando, 30 Minutes north of Cocoa Beach and 45 minutes to Daytona Beach so if you can't find what you need in Titusville, you don't have far to travel.
    While we have restaurants of just about any type, Dixie Crossroads is my favorite! You just can't find Fresh seafood like what is offered at Dixie Crossroads ;-)
    To watch a Rocket launch from your own front yard is awesome too. Many folks drive the 3-5 minutes to the river to watch it too. shhh So do I for night launches.
    If you like gardening, I have a Gardening group where we learn about Florida gardening and trade or give plants/cuttings and seeds to others to help each other grow plants to enhance the beauty of Titusville and local area while meeting new friends in the area. You are welcome to join us :-)

      @@bargain_mama4958 Each of us are different but moving to Florida from Cincinnati area was one of the BEST decisions I have ever made in my life. If for no other reason, the weather! After all these years, I could never handle the cold weather again LOL I don't go outside if it's below 55 degrees LOL
      As far as renting, rent has increased since the pandemic but that is EVERYWHERE. Just be prepared to have first month's rent, deposit and some even require last months rent. I prefer Titusville over other cities in Florida due to the locations. Rarely do hurricanes hit Titusville like they do on the Gulf side, Panhandle and on the east coast SOUTH of Palm Bay.
      If you are on Facebook, go to Facebook Market place and search apartments, houses for rent in Brevard County.
      Good luck and let me know if I can help you as far as selecting a safe neighborhood. All cities have heavy crime sections and Titusville is no different :-)

We have seen every Launch since moving here in 65! I think that the Apollo program was one of my favorite times, until the Space Shuttles came on the scene! The night launches were always amazing. Have always been proud of our town, it is making a real come back! Thanks for making a sincerely positive post.

    Boston guy here who bought a house in town a few years ago and hope to get there full-time soon. I did my research and saw a lot of the negative stuff online , but overall the town (doesn't seem like a city to me) has huge potential....on 95, on the water, 35 minutes to MCO and another 10 to Orlando, affordable housing and no traffic!!
    The downtown could be great if it just had more things going on........arts, restaurants ect which might get some of the new space industry employees to choose Titusville!

    My wife and moved here from Maine 11 years ago. We knew someone special here and my wife was offered a position with the federal government in Sanford. We enjoyed the wildlife, scenery and warm-hearted people in Northern Maine and miss it greatly. We like living in Titusville because the cost of living is less than Melbourne, Daytona Beach and Orlando. When friends or family visit we can go north to the Speedway or east to the beach, west to the theme parks or south to the big city of Melbourne or Palm Bay. Titusville has a lower crime rate and is growing!

    Hi Cheryl, thank you so much for your video, as I just recently discovered Titusville. Can you elaborate on the specific bad areas? I am a NYC resident, retired last October and am looking forward to retiring to Florida. My main concerns for the new home is crime and ensuring a good hospital is closed to our new home. Thanks again for your very informative video. Stay healthy and safe!

      Hey there! And welcome. I'm from Upstate NY. Titusville is tricky when it comes to the areas to live in. There are some really great neighborhoods and some that are not safe. Our subdivision is located next to DeLeon which is a rough part of this city and we've heard gunshots coming from that street in the past. You can pretty much identify safe/not safe just by driving around. I would recommend looking at renting or buying in a subdivision. Hope this helps!

    • @CherylVanDyke
      @CherylVanDyke  Před 2 lety

      Very good question! I would highly recommend visiting, driving around and looking at the locations of the houses for sale, and finding what are good options for your price range. Titusville has some rough parts that can be close to some decent neighborhoods so you want to keep an eye out for that. I would not recommend buying without looking. When we first moved down, we had selected a number of houses to look at and instantly crossed half of them off as soon as we drove into the neighborhood.
      Melbourne/Viera is definently higher end with better neighborhoods but you'll pay quite a bit more. I'm not a fan of Cocoa.

  • @natashabutinakelley9671

    Hi Cheryl, thank you for your video, absolutely LOVE everything you have said to be positives as my husband and I are looking for all those things in our future place to live. I'm from Croatia, Europe, and my husband is from Indiana. We plan to move there in a year. I lived in Miami from 1995-2005. but definitely don't want the big city like that anymore. Living in Croatia now for the past 18 years I'm used to a very safe life and hoping I can have the same in FL. Why Titusville? My best friend and her husband moved there from Boca Raton a year or so ago and she is telling me how wonderful it is for all the things you have mentioned. My husband's dream is to work for Space x and I plan to become a realtor. At the moment I own a destination wedding planning company in Croatia but want to pursue my second dream job in real estate :) A lot of tasks are ahead of us but we are so very much looking forward to making our new home and a new life hopefully in Titusville :). Warm greetings to you and your husband!

      Hey Natasha! I appreciate you reaching out. I was in Bosnia in 2003 and am spending 2 weeks in Slovenia in September. I have great love for the Balkans.
      Florida has many things to offer but it is important to carefully research where you buy a house. Titusville is nothing like Miami. I couldn’t imagine living in a big city. Titusville has no traffic and is 40 minutes from Orlando if you need some of the amenities of a city. I would encourage you to also look at Melbourne and Viera.
      I very much like our neighborhood and feel safe there but we are close to Deleon Street which has a lot of crime and have heard gunshots about 10 times in the past 2 years coming from that area. There are a lot of safe neighborhoods to live in just make sure you check with forums or spend some time int the area to make a good choice for you. And buy a boat!

    The only thing I hate in florida is the humidity, heat, bugs, flatness.

  • @ges6959
    @ges6959 Před rokem

    I also live in Florida, and I hate to say it, but let me contradict some of the "pros" given here. Rocket launches - interesting the first few times, but it gets old quickly. How many times can you watch a ball of fire go up into the sky? Out door activities - agree, but you can only do them a few months of the year - Nov till February, if you're lucky. It's hot and very humid, so take that into consideration, especially if you're coming from a cooler climate. Wildlife: birdwatching is great - you can put out feeders and watch them in your back yard in addition to the many trails in good weather. Like with all wildlife, you may see them one day and then not again for a while. I've had guests and taken them to see manatees and dolphins on days none appear. You're much more likely to see possums and snakes - in your back yard! People - well, Titusville is the only place I can say I've lived and after several years still have not made a friend. And, after living several places, people are people - some good, some bad. Nothing special about Titusville. Location - it's not too bad if you're not going out of state, but if you want to drive out of the state, you'll find it's a long way from the next nearest state. And don't get me started on Orlando - tourists everywhere - and getting to the airport is not for the faint hearted. As far as crime - well, everyplace has crime; you just need to beware. But add that to the easy to obtain guns and open carry - well, that's a recipe for disaster. And don't forget hurricanes and the occasional tornado.
