Back to The Park.....An Algonquin Canoe trip

  • After returning from a long summer up in the Yukon Territory, it was finally time to return to Ontario. Eager to squeeze every last drop out of summer, we found ourselves back in Algonquin Park for one last summer canoe trip. This multi day canoe trip would start with the unexpected meeting of a very popular youtube couple, who we were happy to chat with as we paddled down the lake together before going our separate ways. Lots of swimming, paddling, fishing and playing around in one of Ontario's finest canoe destinations.
We sincerely hope you enjoy this documentary style re-edit of a previously released series. As always, we would love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below!

This may sound corny, but as beautiful as everything is that you've shared with us, my favorite part was hearing, "Thank you." and the soft response "Your welcome." It was every bit as beautiful as the scenery. Respect is a stunning angel. Thank you both!

Saturday morning, almost the middle of March, steaming coffee in my hands watching Back to the Park. As I refill my cup and look outside to the six feet of snow and a thermometer that reads -32, I realize that here in Winnipeg we are still very far away from spring. I also realize just how much I needed this video this morning! Keep on living your Dash!!! - Davey.

Thanks very much Davey. Wooo….that’s a chilly morning out west. Hopefully spring will be there soon enough but until then enjoy your coffee and the snow ❄️. Appreciate the comment Davey.

Another amazing video. I loved the “before we start, thanks for coming fishing with me” haha that was such a sweet moment. Also, The ending inclusion of a reminder to help the crisis in Ukraine was a really nice addition as well. We are fortunate to live here in this beautiful country of Canada, but we should never take that for granted and remember those who need our help as we can give it.

Another spectacular trip through Algonquin Park. With regards to Ashley in the stern, my wife Barb is less than half my weight so when we tried her in the stern we were completely out of control with the bow being submerged relative to the stern. We did consider a paddle on Columbia Lake last week but the white caps were off putting. Spring has sprung in some parts of Canada. Having said that snow is expected this weekend. Be well!

Warning: long comment - stop reading now, if you wish.
    1. Beautiful montage of the area where I cut my canoe tripping teeth in the early 70's. Thank you! Keenan - get a francophone friend to pronounce "air ab le" (Erables) for you - its' leaf is on our flag; and now to flags:
    2. I paddled by Baidarka, compliments of the Red Army, in the Soviet Union doing environmental assessments along the Oka river in '91. When our Russian hosts visited us in Canada a month later (there were tanks in the streets of Moscow the day after they arrived here) we took them canoeing and camping in the Madawaska highlands near Ottawa. It was the best antidote for them not knowing whether they'd have a country to return to. I know my many Russian friends don't want this war and I'm sending my support and care to the people of Ukraine. An excellent sign-off to your video.
    3. Compliments to both of you on having a clean, clear and efficient J-stoke. It's too rare a skill shown in youtube videos. The earlier you agree to switch places in the canoe the better. The little pip-squeak 12 year old who so competently bow-paddled with me down the Kattawagami (the family was into two canoes by then) has since represented Canada at multiple Olympics and had me bow paddling when he took me camping in Algonquin last fall..... I struggled. Practice early. Kudos Ashley!

Hi Laurie. "Harry Keyworth" is the name on the band you're looking for I believe.

If you are looking for the song, it's called Through by Joel Ansett. Took me a while to find it too!

Your dehydrated meals look more appetizing than the stuff I make from scratch lol
Was Keenan still doing the J stroke from the bow seat? 🤣
I wholeheartedly support you and the way you ended the video. 🇺🇦

What’s the secret of catching lake trout ? Never seem to be able to land any when we go

Hey Matthew. I wish I new more tricks myself. I think the biggest key is simply to have a line in the water. I know that sounds stupid but for me trolling around the lakes (as opposed to casting) makes a world of difference. In the summer if you can troll a lure that get 30' down or more you may have more luck as well. Let out lots of line at least 100' and use braided line with a mono or fluoro leaded. Braid will help get your lure a little bit deeper. Try a lure like the Berkley flicker minnow and see how that works. Another thing I try to do is to try to find depth charts on the lakes so I know where the deepest parts are. Hope that helps a little possibly.

Why is it that every channel like this never shows them navigating?

What do you mean by that Christian? You want to see map and compass 🧭….or just the route map?

As this might be a good vidio i strongly dis agree with Alexis outdoor they premot beer drinking which my younger granddaughts now associate beer with out door adventures. All she had to do is not promote beer drinking and keep it out of their vidios. So i personally will not promote this video for watching cause of her.

Thanks wolfeguy. I understand your concern and can appreciate your point of view. We personally think that Careena at the end of the day just wants people to enjoy being outdoors and enjoy nature. Thanks for the comment.

@@CanoeTheNorth no she mad it clear it was iur responsible to teach our granddaughters. So i don't want to post anything to promote her channel in any way. So i will pre watch all videos now Pryor to letting them be seen by my kid/grandkid i have deleted many and have complained. I dont mind anyone drinking but discreetly as to not promot it to the younger generation. Sorry came from a family of every, every social drinkeds. Now most of my family live in a dry state, nothing against you personally, just a very touchy subject with family(SORRY) I WILL watch and see if this is a channel for the kids so they can learn how to have fun the right way. Thanks for hearing me out..
