  • Now in its 2nd generation the Chevrolet Traverse has evolved into a seriously competitive midsize SUV. Custom crafted with families in mind the all-new 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is smartly-designed, spacious, efficient, and pleasant to drive with room for up to 8 passengers, including full-grown adults in the 3rd row. In this video Kelley Blue Book’s Micah Muzio puts Chevy’s newest SUV to the test with some assistance from his exceedingly polite British friend, Tim.

    I think I am going to go with the Traverse. I was considering the Explorer but I don't want everyone I get behind to slam on their brakes thinking I'm a cop.

      I look at the Explorer and to tell you honestly, it isn't all that great in terms of features and comfort for all your passengers. The only thing I see in that explorer is the driver seat and the HP. The rest is just NoT there. For that money, I go for the 2nd gen traverse. The ease of getting in and out and the cargo space on the traverse is the better buy for its value.

      I got the 2018 AWD LT model. There's nothing to not like about this 2 gen traverse. Comfort and easy getting in and out is a breeze. I love this bodystyle. This is the holy grail of everything I want in a midsize SUV. There's not a whole of them out there on the road so this just made it even sweeter. My only small minor gripe is the torque is on the low side. Wish GM had up the torque to make it scream...yeahhhh....baby.

    I love this redesign, it definitely looks more truckish than it actually is; makes me think of a Tahoe with much more care-like ride and better MPG. I would go with the newly revamped Mazda CX-9. As a single man with no children, I feel like I wouldn't have to explain to many people why I bought it. My only gripe with the CX-9 is they dropped the V6. They could have at least made it optional.

  • @mrvang8077

    The 2nd gen traverse is the best-looking midsized suv. If you look at all these other so-call midsized SUV. You will come to find that there's too many compromises in terms of features and comfort. It's like buying a car with only half the car. This 2nd gen traverse has none of that. It comes with almost all of the needs and wants for a daily comfort driving experience. 204" in total length is the proper midsize suv that isn't bulky or compact. This is why I say with the 2nd gen traverse, you get the best of both worlds with features and comfort.

  • @alanmorgan2536
    @alanmorgan2536 Před 6 lety +3

    One thing I dislike about the 18 Traverse is the auto stop feature... It should be adjustable as I find it turns off at inopportune times such as a brief stop before pulling out of a parking lot or when using my security card when entering a parking garage... Just add a 3 second option and it will be significantly improved.

    • @googleit1131
      @googleit1131 Před 6 lety +1

      Nick B I love Mazda just as much as the next guy (I have a Mazda) but the CX-9 isn't that good... to be clear, it's a great drivers car, but third row sucks, and that really the only advantage the CX-9 has over the CX-5. If you need third row, I hate to say it, but the Mazda doesn't work nearly as well as others... unless you take driving dynamics and looks over functionality of a 3 row SUV. And if you don't need a 3rd row, why not get a CX-5? Still looks great and has good leg room and storage.

    • @nickb3671
      @nickb3671 Před 6 lety +2

      well we bought our knowing the third row wasn't going to be used very often. We just like having the versatility to pop it up and have 2 extra seats if we need it. I completely agree don't, get me wrong the third row is definitely meant for just children or short trips. We always have it left down. We test drive just about every entry in the segment and really liked the build quality, materials, driving dynamics, the style and features for the price the cx-9 had. We bought it knowing we weren't going to be hauling passengers on a daily basis, but we bought it over the cx 5 because A- we have a 2016 and the newest gen cx5 wasn't out and B- the option to have a little more cargo, some of the features(1 touch auto windows all around, and real wood trim, and Napa leather), and available 2 extra seats.

    Who cares if there is hard plastic? Hard plastic is easier to clean and is less susceptible to ripping and tearing. I couldn't care less, if it works and it's easy to clean. Especially if you have kids spreading food everywhere. Give me the hard plastic, please. The Traverse is a vehicle for families who actually use their car. As opposed to spoiled millenials who need everything to be soft and plush and whatever. Grow up!

    • @SuzukiKid400
      @SuzukiKid400 Před 6 lety +1

      I agree. I watch these reviews with people randomly tapping on interior body panels. Who does that? As long as it's functional and looks somewhat attractive that's all that matters. It's like they found no fault with the engine, transmission or any other part of the car so they have to start tapping on interior pieces.

    • @alanmorgan2536
      @alanmorgan2536 Před 6 lety

      Actually the hard plastic on the driver's door is more susceptible to scratching, so be careful to not have your keys in your hand when opening the door... already looking for solutions on removing the scratches...

    • @protovack
      @protovack Před 6 lety

      fair enough but at the end of the day, it's a piece of plastic in a car, its going to get scratched, you could probably never think about it again and it wouldn't change your life at all. I know its annoying to see scratches, but, I'd rather have a hard durable piece of plastic get scratched than a soft touch piece of trim get ripped or torn. To each their own.

    • @skye3688
      @skye3688 Před 6 lety

      I care myself because the vehicle costs so much. When your asking a base price of $31K (most are closer to the $40K mark because of options... nobody really wants a base model anything)... i mean... $40,000 dollars. That more than most 2/3 of the population of this country make in a year. So, for that much money, it'd be nice not to grab cheap plastics, interior bits that are loose or worse... rattle.
      To that thought: one time i got into the back seat of a chevy malibu. It has nasty, hard plastic on the backs of the front seats. My suit pants rubbed against it while I was back there... it ripped my pants. Plastic so bad it actually ripped my dress pants. And this same nasty, hard plastic is found all over the place of many GM cars... likely including this one. Here's my thought to GM... you make enough money on a $40K SUV. Honestly... you really do. Spend the extra $4.28 in raw materials to give us plastic that doesn't rip our garments. That's mostly it. That's my two cents anyways.

    But I’d still take an Explorer, Pathfinder, Santa Fe, Highlander, Pilot, CX-9, or even a 4Runner.

    Wish they had given the 3rd row more love given the total extended length of the car. That 3rd row demo was super cramped... definitely Only for shorter trips.

    I really hope GM finally fixed the timing chain issues with the 3.6 because for 35k+ I would rather get an explorer or even the Kia sorento with the 3.3L Ive had to change my timing chains 3 times already and each were 3k plus each time... it seems as if the cams on the inside part of the bay dont get enough oil. Anyway i really hope they did I am all in for this SUV if they fixed the issue

    • @KB-bh9hp
      @KB-bh9hp Před 6 lety

      Ramon Gonzalez Yeah I would buy a explorer with the 3.5 duratec, very reliable engine.

    • @ramongonzalez9497
      @ramongonzalez9497 Před 6 lety

      Puff the Magic Dragon they really are i had a 2003 focus with the duratec engine and i ran it all the way to 230k miles until my cousim crashed it before that no problems

    • @KB-bh9hp
      @KB-bh9hp Před 6 lety

      Ramon Gonzalez Yeah my uncle had a early 2000s focus, ran until 400k, it finally died at that point, well I assume, all he said is it doesn't run anymore, but that doesn't mean the entire engine is shot. Up until that point, the biggest issue he had was he had to buy a new coolant container for like $20. I hate when people say Ford's are unreliable, they have had some issues but from my experience and the experiences of basically everyone I know, they're right up there with Toyota. Again,not saying they're perfect, saying they get alot of undeserved hate. Thankfully it seems that most people are growing up and realizing ford wasn't what they were in the 70's and acknowledging their many improvements. Ford's like America's kia, a brand that had a troubled past, but is great now and people just need to let go of what they once were.

    • @KB-bh9hp
      @KB-bh9hp Před 6 lety

      Ramon Gonzalez Funny thing, I was considering a traverse when I was shopping for a midsized crossover, heard good things about them but it goes to show no product is perfect. I genuinely hope things work out for you. If you are looking at getting a new suv, I would advise you to stay away from the new pathfinders and pilots, the new pathfinder is the least reliable in it's segment and the pilot has been slammed by quite a few engine, transmission and electronic reliability issues, the pilots before 2015 were good, but they screwed up with the 2016 redesign.

    • @ramongonzalez9497
      @ramongonzalez9497 Před 6 lety

      Puff the Magic Dragon you are very right on that. The only thing i could suggest people with fords do is just to maintain them. Simple maintenance goes far with those cars. If my focus hadnt been wrecked i would probably still be driving it to this day. And as for the pilot issue im not planning on getting honda or toyota anytime soon so thats not even in question i would rather get a kia tbh sounds dumb but toyota and honda are over charging for those suvs. They cost almost as much as a benz.

      Parker Weatly The warranty is good but I have more faith in the explorers long term reliability. People give ford a hard time, but every ford my family has owned has been great and they seem to have only gotten more reliable over time.
