Hi again Gareth, here in China one of my neighbours was sending her son off to school each day with a very expensive Australian steak pie bought from a high-end supermarket in the city. I decided to try one, the Pukka reminds me of it very much. Took it home, heated it up, cut into it to find the majority of the filling was fresh air along with just 24g of meat! As I have my own micro-bakery I set to and produced pies guaranteed to contain at least 100g of the finest beef. I can sell these all day at less than half the cost of the Australian pie and with an excellent profit margin. Just goes to show what these large food conglomerates take or try to take from our pockets….

I've never had a Hollands pie, though the all-shortcrust pastry is very appealing to me. As for Pukka, I've always found them to have a rather large air-cavity inside which, considering their height, always makes me feel a little bit cheated - Growing up on the East London/Essex border I seldom encountered them as a youngster. Our local Chippies seemed to favour Peter's Pies (originally a Welsh company I seem to recall), which I always thought fine, especially the Chicken & Mushroom. As for the Morrison's pie, these are generally alright - Whenever I visit my young nephew (a Student) he invariably (and proudly) produces these for dinner, with crinkle-cut chips and baked beans, alongside a bottle of Chop Sauce (my own particular favourite). And I am very proud of him for it too! :)
Being from Kidderminster in the Midlands I moved up to Colne Lancashire in 1986, back in 1986 it was Hollands pies down the midlands as well as Lancashire , when did Pukka pies start to take over? p.s.always drive past Hollands in Baxenden lol! :-)

Cheers Richard
Being from Kidderminster in the Midlands I moved up to Colne Lancashire in 1986, back in 1986 it was Hollands pies down the midlands as well as Lancashire , when did Pukka pies start to take over? p.s.always drive past Hollands in Baxenden lol! :-)

Yes I'm looking into it for the future, 👍👍
Stuff the price and contents, it's all about the taste,
Great comparison.
I like watching a man who appreciates his pies. Mate, I think you need some peas and chips to go with those.
Yes your right 😋😋😋👍
Excellent as usual pal. When you do a meat and potato pie off all our southern friends will be like, what are they. Lived in London for ten yrs no such thing as a meat and Potato pie south of Birmingham . 😆😆😆😆😆
Yes coming very soon that one 👍😀
