that is super simple, saw a version of this when someone showed his van that he used as a work van in the week and a recreational van for mountain bikes at the weekend very neat
Finally....somebody w/ the same idea I had. 67yo/retired here....I've been taking notes for about the past 15, and the one thing that always struck me was: WHY does everybody have a permanent bed? Wtf? I was asking because I consider a mattress a huge waste of real estate inside. Besides- even in my 1BR condo...I don't hang out in my BR- except when sleeping. Or sick. So why would I be forced to have to always sprawl out inside a van? THAT doesn't work for my lifestyle....but a Murphy design does. In fact, most van builds leave me empty....because they are big on LOOKING like a conventional home....the cabinetry, the cooktop, etc. I want great functionality/Utility.....not cosmetics in my own project. And if I see one more van w/ subway tile backsplashes- I'm gonna vomit.
just in the process of converting my new van. My original idea was a fixed bed, then some sort of sliding one but after watching a couple of these murphy bed ideas, i think that’s the one for me. When it’s not a bed it opens up the whole of the van from front to back without the restriction of a fixed bed!
My thoughts exactly! I think you have to live a bit to realise what a waste of space looks like, before you fix it, with a bit of good old school experience!! I mean, who the hell needs a kitchen full of cupboards/closets in a van when they're camping?!?! 🤣
This is brilliant. I'm doing my 2nd tiny home (this one "on land" wheras my first was a box truck) and i dont want to lose all the floor space to my queen size mattress in a 8 x 14 foot build.
Fabulous . I'm doing a twin bed running front to back the same way. My only change will be to put the head of the bolt on the inside . I'd also like to try a locking nut . I'm thinking this will allow any extra threads to be cut off . Appreciate you sharing this as it's simple and I've been wondering why people felt the need to use fishing boat swivel seats and paying for Murphy bed kits . I'm all about keeping it simple .
I might have done it differently just a bit, like a locking nut in the beginning, I have them on there now though for sure. The regular nut can rattle loose over time
You could easily attach hinged shelves on to the wall/bed-base, that stay right-way-up, when you fold the bed down, so you don't lose anything?! I believe that's a common thing on house-based Murphy beds?!?! 🤔
That's what I've been looking for, thanks, it's now my new project!
I'm Scottish, so saving £££'s is a way of life for me!! 🤣

I hope it works well for you
This is legit, I like your pallet video too. Couldn't comment on it since it's marked for CZcams kids, but regardless great little series of videos!
I didn't realize that I'll have to adjust that

Thank you just want I was looking for. for my cargo trailer slash toy hauler
insta-subbed! great vid
Simple setup!!!
Now that I assume you’ve lived with this build a while, anything you would change? Or had to fix with the bed design?
Amazing!
Awesome!!! 😎
Nice!
Where are you based out of?
But now you have an entire wall of un usable space and you've pretty much lost your garage

Wonder if a fold out table could be put on the bottom of the bed
