    I use a piece of cardboard between the pry bar and the wall to prevent scuffs and damage to the paint and drywall.

    • @TheLovelyMissBeans
      @TheLovelyMissBeans Před 3 lety +2

      The prybar she was using is designed specifically for removing baseboards and trim, so it's a little better at not damaging the walls versus the standard prybar. Plus, she is using a REALLY wide board compared to the old trim, not thinking it is gonna make much difference if there's a mark, it will be covered! :)

    I pay a little bit more for the pre-primed pine boards. Saves a step of priming, but more importantly they’re better (straighter) cuts of wood. Some of the cheaper unfinished pine boards can have a bend or curve to them, where I’m not talented enough to overcome 😆

    Oh this looks amazing! And the answer to my stress! lol. My husband and are finishing up our renovation on our 120 yr old home and in the process of the demo we had to scrap some of the nice thick baseboards and I was stressing over how we were going to remedy this problem without spending a fortune. This really is beautiful! Thank you 😊

    Love that you've made a video for people to understand this concept. So many diy'ers these days don't get the simplicity and honestly the durability of this. My wife and i completely refinished our old house. 2450sqft of new flooring and trim. Using 1 by lumber for all of the floor, door and window trim. I installed the same thing in our new house myself to save some serious construction cost. My only complaint is i don't think white is very farmhouse.... the term emits a feeling of hand crafted wood colored creeky floors and 9ft doors. Though this style is very cost effective, slapping paint over the wood grain isn't the same!

    I think you're supposed to prime, caulk and then paint so that you don't have the caulk showing on the seams as well as the nail holes. Overall, this is a great way to upgrade baseboards. I love it and will be using this in my home. We just bought a house and it just finished being built two months ago. We close next week and I cannot wait to get in there and change these builder grade finishes. Thank you!

      I give her an A for effort but, these baseboards look no where near professional. Miter cuts are not difficult you can practice a little bit until you get the hang of it. Otherwise, your baseboards will look cheap.

    Wrong primer, sorry to tell you this. The knots will eventually come through. The correct primer is BIN shellac-based primer, a little more expensive but one coat and knots are gone for good. You can paint with latex 10 times, but you'll never cover them.
