Yes, I was surprised someone said that too.... but I think it needed to be addressed with someone who was actually in the movie. I've heard in various X-Files fb groups that fans didn't like it but until this panel, I never heard from David/Gillian or anyone else actually associated with the movie discuss IWTB's shortcomings. Kudos to the guy for having the guts to ask them. Mitch seemed afraid to answer that question -- lol
+LibTroy Should be good now. I made it private earlier as I didn't want to step on any toes with the FOX comment haha. That was before I knew this was streamed live at the time.
About the IWTB "question". I didn't like that movie at all, but there are so many other ways that guy could've said the same thing without using the words "everything else sucked". For example, "it was a bit of a letdown", "it didn't meet my expectations", etc. Be a little more diplomatic. After all, the people you are talking to TRIED to do their best. Have some respect. Then again, some nerds are socially inept. At the risk of sounding sexist, or whatever, most of the questions from women were about the MSR, which is kinda annoying, but understandable, BUT then the men that got to ask questions made the stupidest questions possible (the other guy went on an on about a supposed metal plate Skinner had in his skull). Anyways, thanks for uploading these videos.
+magnumcornetto and do we really need to know what their favorite ice cream flavor is? haha. I thought the IWTB question could definitely have been phrased better. I mentioned before, it would have been an ok episode...but for a full movie, no. It was lacking, fans knew that, but hey, it was still awesome to see the X-Files on the big screen again. Not to mention, David handled that question really well. I figured there would be a lot of MSR-related questions, but it wasn't as much as I thought it would be. There were some decent questions asked, and some not-so-decent (especially that personal question to DD, what the hell?!), but overall it was really enjoyable.
I'm glad that someone asked about IWTB because I really didn't care much for that film either -- I mean aside from the Mulder / Scully scenes and Skinner's heroic scene, I thought the story was all over the place. I have to say I totally respected the fact that David told the truth about that and didn't shrug it off. After 10 years of waiting, IWTB was a big disappointment for me. I've been a fan since '93 and I usually never say anything bad about The X-Files but the guy that asked the question was right. Aside from David, Gillian and Mitch, IWTB sucked. Just my opinion. Don't hate me.
It was kind of a '"whoa you did not just say that to them" moment, but I was genuinely surprised with how DD answered to that comment. IWTB certainly was lacking and it would have probably made a decent episode, but it wasn't fully evolved for a movie I think. I think most fans would agree!
+Kellie Andrews I blame IWTB on FOX (and to a lesser extent on Carter/Spotnitz). FOX gave them very little prep time, so the script was a rush job, it had a tiny budget for a "summer movie", and a ridiculously short post production schedule. It was a rushed movie, and it felt like it. Since FOX didn't have any big release scheduled for that summer, because of the screenwriters strike, they felt like they could have ready a TXF movie fast and on the cheap.
Oh, I certainly think you're correct magnumcornetto. I saw an interview with Chris Carter( may have been on the IWTB DVD) where he said something to the effect that he and Frank had written notes for the movie on index cards and then lost some of the index cards. That's what the movie felt like. There was an idea there at some point but then I think they made the rest up as they went along-- the heart of the story must have been on those lost index cards -- I agree with you it was a rushed movie.
".....not on camera." hahah love his slash reference too.
Thanks Gina Lizza. I appreciate it.

What is the woman talking about at 3:16 - 3:33, I can't hear what she's saying- is she referring to an X-file episode?
