The aux power is not redundant. It’s what supplies power to the NAC’s.

This is exactly the same as my rec centre’s system with the same panel, bells and even detectors. The main difference here being is that the 270 pull is the single stage version while my rec centre has the dual stage 270’s with the key switch to initiate stage 2. The movie theatre near me though is even more interesting as it uses single stroke Adaptabels and 439D bells(single stroke version)and the bells work and sound perfectly with the style of “coding” it uses in both stages. Stage one goes like this; ding…pause…ding…pause…ding. Then once stage 2 is initiated is goes in a sort of ding ding ding ding (march time style) Unfortunately once Edwards did away with it’s single stroke series of bells in the 2000’s the coding and bells never quite sounded the same but none the less this is an awesome setup. Exactly like what my Rec Centre system (installed 2003) does so it’s spot on with today’s dual stage systems.

fun fact that 24 BPM code if you took a single shot of that and fed it to the bell youd mimic almost my HS fire alarm....single blast bell was for class change and full evacuations was continuous bell (the system used some bells on red strobe mounts and a few old GENT bells (here in the UK a red strobe is for fires as opposed to your white strobe))

I believe the clicking would be the panel checking for battery. I know some other panels switch to battery power every so often to check if it’s there.

  • @achannelwithnopurpose1977

Honestly, I’ve always found the quickstart interesting. Even though it’s definitely not the best panel, it’s still interesting based on how it works and how it improved over the years. I actually considered buying a quickstart to replace my fireshield panel with the ground fault which I have traced to the board.

These are really cool panels and even though they might not be the most reliable things I think that they can be really good panels when set up right.
Is there any way to do real two stage with QuickStarts?

You will have to verify the pins on the RS 232 are going to the correct terminals on the panel you shouldn't need the software to install a new detector head though from my experience you can just swap them out and the panel should recognize it

this sounds like west Edmonton mall in Edmonton ab they use the same system as the demo wall the bells are mix of Edwards mb10'24's and some 439d and some simplex bell's this demo system sounds exactly like the fire alarm at west Edmonton mall here a link to the video of WEM's fire alarm czcams.com/video/izYROCbJNrQ/video.html
