I can't believe she had the nerve to bring him to court when she knew she was taking advantage of the system. People like her make me sick. There are tons of people who are working and need help but can't get the help, she knew how to play the system so she could get what she wants, and make the tax payers pay for it. If she is on SSI it makes me wonder if she cheated that system too.
the amount you make when coming off welfare isn't enough to live w/o assistance. therefore the incentive is to not work in order to stay solvent. people don't go from welfare to engineer. the jobs are insecure and don't cover all basic needs. if they lose the job it is hard to get back on certain programs why risk insecurity? we need a stronger, bigger middle class to provide real stepping stones for mobility out of poverty.

You're assuming a lot from so little information. You don't know her situation at all. If you have a disability and you decide to work, you can't just take any job. Your job has to cover all your medical bills and still accommodate whatever disability you have. If you have a serious disability, good luck getting a high paying job and keeping it.
It's much safer to stay on government health care and programs. You know you'll have a roof over your head and your insurance is covered. However, you will always be poor on government checks. They give you just enough to keep living. I think most people would rather work and make a decent living than have the government decide how little they're willing to give you.

I grew up in lower income housing in NYC. My mom NEVER let a boyfriend live with us. She always made it clear that her kids came first, not a man! If he didn't like that, hit the road jack! We were a family of 5 (Mom & us) we all are college grads, good jobs & now we honor our mom. She wants for nothing. If you know you' re situation, you have to make some tough decisions. What's more important, a man or a place to live? Mom chose a home for us.

Remember, we had to bail out the big banking institutions after they caused a recession and many working people and families to lose their homes.

She shouldn't be forced to disclose she has a permanent disability, but she should absolutely have known it would probably come up! It's common in any kind of hearing to be asked what you do for a living, AND she should have known he might bring it up, too.

What she saying is when you on low income there only a specific amount your allowed to make In order to continue to be on low income. I know certain people I’d they make more then $400 a week they won’t be eligible for it and there benefits will get cut off permanently. So that’s why people who are on low income have to meet those certain requirements if they wanna still be on it from what I know.
