    i’ve had this bag for almost 3 years. Things i don’t really like;
    The red mesh linings really gets in the way.
    Not enough pockets. Feels like there’s some wasted opportunities.
    Has totally lost structural integrity over time. Completely droopy and doesn’t stand by itself fully loaded
    Gets really uncomfortable if you’re standing for long periods of time. (could possibly be caused by the structure failing.)
    The camera cube it isn’t deep enough for my 24-70 GM lens to stand up straight, so i’d have to lay it sideways which loses me space in return.
    Sternum strap is not a good level for women. My girlfriend wore it and was immediately uncomfortable with the sternum strap’s level.
    Buckle on the waist strap can sometimes dig into the skin after a while. (only under full load)
    ….
    Overall not a horrible backpack for its price, but i will ultimately be going for either the 31L Wanrd Prvke V-2 , or 25L Peter McKinnon Everyday bag.

      Thanks Troy. The waist strap is more of light style belt but it still works great. I think a much more heavy duty waist belt like my Lowepro Whistler 450 would have been overkill on a smaller pack like this

    A terrific review! You gave all the information needed, and none that wasn't (some reviewers insists on discussing their coffee habit before and during their reviews). You even discussed quality of workmanship, which is rare. I have a bit of a soft spot for this particular bag, even though it's a bit of a take-off of a more expensive and well-known brand. But if something works, why change it just to be different? If I had found your review, I'd have probably bought one of these, instead of the (similarly-priced) Pgytech bag I went for. (I am very happy with my Pgytech, by the way.) One stumbling block was the laptop sleeve, and I tried very hard but couldn't get anyone to tell me the maximum size it would take. The manufacturer wouldn't provide dimensions for it. The best I got was "should take a 15.4" laptop" or similar. There are some real blunderbusses of 15.4" laptops out there, and though mine is 17.4" it has a 15.4" footprint. I even tried the Prvke backpack for fit which claims a 14" MacBook will fit and... it was snug, but still okay.

    I got the first version of the pack, it only has top and side access unlike this one, but both have the same problem. The top section if fully loaded the magnetic clasp can not be closed due to the limited length of the strap, so that the metal thing will hang loose and may get hit by it when you swing the pack to the front to get access to the gear. Also, the ad. said it's waterproof except for the top section. This is silly, rain doesn't rise from the ground, waterproof or not you still need a rain cover, almost perfect pack to me what a pity !

    The waist straps look a bit thin to me compared to a hiking backpack with pads, do the ones on this backpack help weight distribution much?

    • @GreggMcLachlan
      @GreggMcLachlan Před rokem

      Definitely meant as a light day pack, maybe a camera, two lenses, and a jacket, etc. Because of that light weight load, I would say the straps are more meant to help keep the bag tight to body and not flopping around. I wouldn't consider the waist straps to be load-bearing or intended to distribute weight like a heavy duty backpack 👍

    Nice review. I was looking at the Wandrd Prvke but this looks like a nice budget alternative. One question: at 8:39 I see there is a divider that separates the camera section and the top of the bag. Can that divider be moved down to make the camera section smaller? It looks like the camera section takes up the majority of the space, so I was wondering if it would be possible to adjust that and make the top section bigger. Thanks

    • @GreggMcLachlan
      @GreggMcLachlan Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, you could move the 'floor' of the top part deeper. It's just typical velcro divider system. The only part that is pre-cut and sized for the top compartment is an internal thin fabric flappy zippered 'Wall' thing. If you move the floor deeper into bag, the 'wall' cannot stretch to fit deeper area. I still think this bag is great alternative to Wandrd Prvke

    thank you for the review. I ordered the bag using your link and think this bag is terrific. I also bought a Peakdesign bag. The materials and zippers and hardware is not as good as the peakdesign. But the functionality of this one is for me way better than the peak design. I'm just wondering what your thoughts are after a year of use. Peak design replaces your item if the zipper breaks or the material rips. Did you have any issues after one year of use?

    • @GreggMcLachlan
      @GreggMcLachlan Před 2 lety

      Thanks Paul. For sure, this backpack doesn't replace a premium $500+ backpack (I use my Lowepro Whistler 450 in my everyday work). Still, I still really like this backpack as my hybrid day pack for casual photography and hiking, and I just reviewed its baby brother backpack a week ago in the rain. One year later it's held up well and no breakages on zippers or seams. Other than a couple of rock scuffs/scratches on exterior, there are no fabric rips. I'm especially impressed at this backpack in wet weather. Now, ask me again in a couple of years as I begin to resume going further afield as Covid lessens and this pack goes into much more rocky terrain ;)

      I'm so happy about this backpack! It is obviously a rip-off. I bought the original after I have received the basnfoto backpack. And I would never suport any company that rips off another product. Also Wandrd offers a warranty of their products and so does peakdesign. However, this backpack is better. It has a larger camera compartment than the original, a larger side opening and direct zipper access to the top compartment, where I store my peak design tech pouch, which holds all the stuff I want to have at my seat in an airplane, while the packpack is in the overhead compartment. It also has a zipper on top of the roll out compartment which the original does not have. I would hate the idea that maybe a zipper breaks or it would rip somewhere and a repair is not possible and this one would end up as trash. I will just be gentle to the backpack. Overall for me a better product than the $300+ version or the Peakdesign Everyday. Thank you again for your review. I never would have found that backpack
