We have had our Kakariki for over 5 months now and he is still scared of our hands, there is no way we could rub his chest like that. My mum however can kiss him all over and hes fine with it, me being a boy he just wants to play and play rough with me. Its all about patience with these guys. They take a while to build up trust but once they do look out, they wont leave you alone (in a nice way). Expect to be bitten a few times and make sure to let them know who's boss. My bird although he plays rough with me always knows im boss. These are the most amazing birds to have so be patient as you will love their characters as they are nothing like any other bird. Our bird came from another home so we dont know what happened to him there so it is taking a bit longer to gain his trust but he has definitely fallen in love with us as we have with him, Just have to build up the trust now. :) were getting there
We picked up a beautiful, blue Kakariki yesterday and he's already a real character. He much prefers women to men, so I have to earn his trust, but he loves to follow us round and be involved with whatever we're doing. Today he tried to eat the tinsel while we took down the Christmas tree.
Schattig he die beestjes! Wij hebben ook zo'n tamme. Nu bijna 2 jaar. En ze luistert echt heel goed! Ze doet haar 'badje' altijd in haar drinkbakje haha. Hoe ze dat altijd doet weet ik toch ook niet hoor, zij is veel groter dan haar drinkbakje zelf dus echt kunstig hoe ze dat doet. Echt een grappig zicht! Ongelofelijk hoe slim die beestjes zijn he en vooral heel nieuwsgierig! Vooral in dozen kruipen is haar favoriete bezigheid. Kan ze echt niet meer missen

She didn't want to eat only by kiwi !! But if I want a new one she has to be his own age but I don't want that , a can't to get her tame anymore than !!! I hope you get your own kakariki tame

Needs a step up... Have trouble flying when full of water... Maybe reluctance-looked as though wanted to use hand down. When splashing. My bird's funny like that too-likes sound. Even when asked for water... Splash sploosh😉
I don't know what those birds are caled in Englisch but i have two of those too. They are Not Hand tamed jet and i have them vor about two months now but i'm gonna give them the time they need and i hope they are gonna be Heart warming Like your kakariki ❤️

Mine and others have watched on here really like the bitter seed(white one in mix I know bitter-tried it;) Mine had 'issues' having wrecked his tail in pet shop cage & having been fed exclusively seed... First 'moment' was eating apple-tearing chunks lil aggressively must say-shocked stood up chest out looking at lot nicer-as explain seed-omg?!!) Blew him away... Not a cage bird. Could not do that to him. So first day' he loved nothing more than close calls land near by to chuckle at whom ever he'd just flown over... Skilled flyer's...
I watched a bunch of your videos before I got my bird and I'm pretty sure you influenced my decision. Now, what I wonder is how many words in total Kiwi can say. My Agi can clearly say his name and a couple of other things after just a month here, and I've been wondering if they all start out like this and then stop, or something. Thanks. :)
Well. . kiwi can say (kiwi of course! miauw / wauw/ stupid/ cookie / fuck you / but now he is older, 5 years he doesn't say so much anymore I don't know whay but stupid is his favorite word haha !! I'm getting a green kakariki and a yellow one can I get some names please its a boy and a girl I'm getting them this Thursday I'm solo exited I've been told not to handle them at least for a month any more advise please let me know in the replays OK :)
I cuddled them directly to get more comfortable in there new habitat, I think it's good for them to be comfortable whit u, and about the names, I guess you ll found some names they ll suit. If you want them to be tame, try with some food to get them on your hand and try it a lot of times or you can temporarily cut a little bit of there wings (it ll grow on) then they ll see you are the ride to everything. hoe heb je hem zo tam gekregen? Ik heb sinds 2 weken tijd ook een kakariki (uit de dierenwinkel, onder 1 jaar oud) maar vind het lastig om hem uberhaupt te laten wennen aan mij. Heb al geprobeerd hem uit mijn hand te laten eten met allerlei lekkere dingen maar hij is nog te bang....heb je misschien tips?
Goede vraag 😄 ik had hem met 4 weken dan gaat dat wat makkelijker ivm dat je hem met een spuitje met eten groot brengt en aan jou wend en dan langzamerhand vanaf een lepel. Wanneer ze ouder zijn en al alles zelfstandig kunnen word het indd lastiger maar probeer heel veel tijd te besteden aan je vogeltje en praat tegen hem en laat hem er uit en voorzichtig hem te leren op jou te stappen en zn vertrouwen te winnen
cassandra harms Thanks! maar is het al verstandig hem eruit te laten als hij nog niet tam is? hij is niet gekortwiekt dus hij vliegt waarschijnlijk overal naartoe en hoe we hem dan moeten vangen is nog een tweede....ik probeer tot nu toe iedere dag een paar keer met mn hand in de kooi hem te lokken met eten...maar hij is een beetje bang
Stephanie Gorissen kiwi is ook niet gewiekt maar die vliegt ook alle kanten op dus ramen en deuren dicht haha ja ik ving hem altijd met een net je dat vond hij niet zo leuk !! Maar indd hand er in en proberen hem op je vinger te laten stappen en probeer hem te aaien als dat lukt belonen k zal eerlijk zijn kiwi is een dondersteen en is niet heel tam hoor hij vliegt wel zn kooi zelf in en gaat ook op mn vinger zitten maar de rest niet aaien niet hij heeft zn eigen willetje
@@casselli Did you go to your hand in a few years and did he start talking later? We have this parrot 3.week and while still afraid as we approach, sunflower takes just over the cage, but otherwise, so we are curious to get used
@@Lepik06 you can try to give them treats for doing something good, or with a flat hand with some sunflowerseeds to try them to lure them on your hand(apple). They are really curious and take your time for that. They ll trust you but takes some time.... was a lomg ride for me too with banana she was 2 when i get her. And i handraised kiwi bymyself so thats a lot easyer
+Brenda I am so sorry for my late reaction 😔 It's 8 months ago when you asked my how kiwi is doing . I have sad news he past away unfortunately. Few months ago he died in his sleep. His lovely wife banana was so said with his loss and picked all of her feathers. After a few moths she feels a little bit better and is very happy . 🐥

A question: how long did it take for Kiwi to talk so clearly? Agi talks a lot, but it's barely possible to understand what he's saying. :)
