"Please don't ever forget this song...or me"...*tears intensify*
It sure wasn't forgotten
I'm currently replaying the game since I never got past the second dungeon cause I couldn't figure out how to. And when I got to that part, I choked up a bit. I'm a 20 year old guy and LoZ can still move me. Damn your awesome games, Nintendo. Damn you.
Its a curse.... as you get older you find you become... *Pasionate* more often about things, and stuff like... music... and puppies start to make you tear up.
Zelda has been the only game series that has always touched me in each of the games that I've played. Hell, even the ghost in LA that you have to bring to the house by the bay touched me. And that's a character that you don't interact for more than 5 minutes. Only reason it lasted THAT long was cause I had to remember where his gravestone was at.
SPOILERS. IF YOU HAVE NOT ACHIEVED SECRET ENDING IN LINKS AWAKENING DO NOT READ
Fuck me, I had the DX version of that game, and when I played on the 3ds, I used save states to achieve the secret ending without dieing(i know, I cheated) But seriously, when I saw that ending with Marin flying away, I fucking cried my goddamn eyes out. That was the first time I cried in about 6 years. Last time I cried was Fado from wind waker :(
This game tells us that even the most pleasant of dreams must end.
So I guess I got to stop dreaming of being a space astronauts, lawyer, door holder in space. a
+Danny Merfeld Are you sure the message isn't watch out for strange foreigners who might in fact be a walking extinction level event if gone unchecked?
What I was saying was that a literal dream has to end at some point. No matter how much we might not want it to. No matter who we might want to take with us, it won't happen. It is sad that you have to leave this wonderful dream, but that is life. It sucks, but that is how it goes.
+Tilly Edwards What hurts my brain isn't just your indoctrination regarding "strange foreigners", but the fact that that's the first thing that came to your mind when you thought to reply
Danny Merfeld yes dreams do end eventually end but they can be reality regardless of what your dream is and people can be who they want to be.
Its a shame how underrated this theme is. Everyone gushes over the Gerudo Canyon theme or the Zelda theme but you hardly hear of people talk about this one. It deserves more recognition.
*Gerudo Valley.
zangetsu9196 Gerudo Canyon lmao I love it, but yes I agree. Link's Awakening is so underrated, actually, 2d Zeldas are underrated.
+Leiliane Moura i love all the 2d zeldas.
this is actually my favorite Zelda came, probably because it was my first though
+zangetsu9196 maybe because this is a remake from an Game Boy Titel. Gerudo Valley is still the N64 Original. I do not say, this music is great, but the most Music are better with a good remake.
The one game that Link couldn't save a world
My first zelda game actually was this.
Same here!!! Omg, the feels. The nostalgia. The EVERYTHING!
i actually never played zelda before, but after hearing this song played for me by friend, i just had to find a nintendo and dem games to play some
I think this would be a good game for a Zelda movie. Yeah OOT or LTTP would be good too. But, this one just has so much emotion put into it
+B It would be better as an anime movie. Specifically Studio Ghibli.
This melody IS Link Awakening. When i hear this i FEEL the game, it's so perfect in every way and this remastering is just amazing.
people think majoras mask is sad and depressing, maybe it is but this game was the one that truly stands out among all the others, cause by waking the wind fish, the dream ends, all the people you helped, all the beings you met along your journey
there all gone because you awoke the wind fish and made the dream dissapear and become forgotten
that is the true death being forgotten
+Seirra Moon well only if link truly forgot them, and something tells me this particular incarnation held onto the tale
+Seirra Moon I know everything because I played with that game. That's my favourite :) I learnt a few songs on piano.
Majoras mask was very saddening to me, seeing what everyone was going through time and time again, meanwhile you can't possibly help them all. even when you just get do the ending the games characters still suffer from the misfortune
Technically since its a dream they weren't real? This shit is 2deep4me.
Yet at the same time they were, it sorta becomes a grey area
This game makes me think of the fictional worlds I used to dream about. I stopped dreaming as I grew older, and sometimes think about these worlds that just don't exist anymore. It's surreal.
They will stay alive, as long someone remembers them. Even if it is only a shadow, from what they used to be.
The title is very relevant right now.
Its sad this wont be the theme in the new game, cause this piece is beautiful
@@MrNuclearturtle From the brief end of the preview, we're going to be getting a vocal cover that's amazing in it's own right
Beyond excited
Indeed
Like a pair of sweaty green tubesocks flying to dry.
Even if we no longer exist in each other's worlds
I will always love you
I will never forget you..
This is a dark game.. amazing but dark, with a sad ending. You enter a world inhabited by human and monster alike, guarded by shadow creatures who are concerned only with the survival and protection of their world, and you destroy them and every single person in it, just to get back to your own. In this game, you are the villan, and the nightmares are the only thing keeping their world alive.
i wouldn't say that you are a villain, yes, you destroy the island and all the people in it, that island and his people and all that is inside of it, isn't real, they are just lie, illusion made by both link and the wind fish.
it doesn't matter how much you want to believe they are real, in the end they are just dreams, and all dreams, even the most sweet ones, all they have to end, we cant live in illusion. we must face reality with every thing that it throw us even if it hurt us, we must.
This game has a message about how much we shouldn't escape our problems with illusions and dreams, and instead we must break the lies and wake in the thruth and face it, even if its painful.
And that's the way i see it
Eduardo Robledo couldn’t said it better than myself
You can save Marin if you unlock the secret ending...
SPOILERS
Take her on all her possible cut scenes and end the game with 0 deaths.
She is reborn as a seagull in Link's world when the dream world is destroyed.
Some think Marin later reincarnates as Link's sister in Wind Waker (even the title is relevant to LA, waking the windfish) and both revolve around Link's life at sea.
Malon is also another potential incarnation of Marin, being an animal lover and looking similar.
@@DarkMustard1337 Oh wow soo deep
Unless they changed it in the switch remake, you only have to have 0 Deaths recorded on your save file to “save” Marin
But she’s transformed into a Seagull. It’s not even her singing at the end, it’s the Windfish using her voice while she calls in seagull.
The only version where Marin truly has her wish granted is the very first one-not the DX or Switch rereleases. In the OG, Marin is given wings and is the one singing...verses becoming a Literal Seagull
Ive decided that its a necessary requirement that my children play the legend of zelda
Kai Rose when I meet new people they have to have played at least 3 of the games to be considered one of my friends
That, and star wars
Jcb986 H I hope you’re talking about the original trilogy.
Saaaame.
If I have kids and they don't like Zelda games, none of my heritage will be theirs
i decided that the day i discovered the zelda series
you guys ever think about how symbolic the whole “Thief” thing is? like, it’s just a silly easter egg, but if you think about it, at the end of the game, you are the ultimate Thief. you’re robbing Koholint of its existence.
You just blow up my mind you know that
and like. the monsters got along with the humans and animals before Link arrived and the Nightmares panicked. Which, they’re still pleading with Link to STOP! Turn back!! even as Link is murdering them because a gaslighting owl told him to.
Then...the whale kami you unsealed and destroyed the island for and everyone on it just....leaves you to die. (And steals your girlfriend’s voice while also turning her into a seagull. It’s only the OG where Marin truly is able to fly&sing-in the DX and Remake...the Windfish is quite literal and fae logic with “granting” Marin’s request. SO. Who wants sushi??)
The single most beautiful piece of gaming music ever
If I was a seagull, I would fly as far as I could! I would fly to far away places and sing for many people! ...If I wish to the Wind Fish, I wonder if my dream will come true...
You know... It's kind of sad fo Link because even though this whole time his adventure was in a dream, Link got to see all of the people from his previous adventures in Hyrule, Holodrum, and Labrynna... All to just have to face the fact that he's all alone in the ocean, stuck...
It's been a decade since I finished this game and I think someone who understood the story would shed tears upon hearing this song while seeing visions what happened as if your link. Depressing but it makes you feel and appreciate what you have or had in your life.
+1
Ramon Vicente Vallesteros Ricafrente tbh I shed a few tears
The only Zelda game that ever made me cry.
+AnnoyingSquib For me, it was Skyward Sword and Majora's Mask
I cried in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link because I died so many times lol
The Mr. Otaku Show fuccck me too
@@chaz5256 I know im late but LMFAO SAME
Not major mask win the goron died?
...It be the nature of dreams to end! When I dost awaken. Koholint will be gone... only the memory of this dream land will exist in the waking world... someday. Thou may recall this island... That memory must be the real dream world...
This is the most beautiful song I've ever heard. I don't think anything else can top this. This song is napping under a tree on a warm spring afternoon. This song is grazing in a field of Brown-eyed Susan's and Sunflowers. This song is making bread in a cottage by a lake. This song is watching the fireflies dance through the grass at sunset. This song is butterflies fluttering about you. This song is the little moments of beauty and grace in nature, no words can describe, just emotions. This song is having a majestical dream of a far-off world. The etherealness of which is unmatched by any place on Earth, then waking up, unable to let go of the emotions it gave to you. This song makes me feel all of those things.
Best and most beautiful version evr. :D
Ah yes, Link's Awakening. The game where you commit genocide by waking up a fish.
Jokes aside, this was my first Zelda game. So pumped for the Switch Remake!
Never forget the Wind Fish, never forgive the Nightmares.
the nightmares were the good ones.
schackmountain From a twisted point of view perhaps.
YorktownUSA SPOILERS!!!!!!!
Depends on how you look at it. Without the Nightmares keeping the Wind Fish sleeping, Koholint would never exist. Killing them ended the existence of Koholint and all it's inhabitants. It all depends on what you value more. Reality or the dream world.
geekodot It's a hard dilemma, but the Wind Fish (reality) was trapped in it's own head by the Nightmares. Sure, Koholint was a wonderful dream... but it was a lie.
The Nightmares were the ones trying to protect that world
The saddest thing is, in Links awakening you are the villain. Why the people outside that island were more important/real than those inside the dream? What makes the reality real? All those people had dreams, had a real life even tho was just a dream
Remember, the villains only are villains cuz the story is made from the hero’s perspective
Hype for the Switch Version
Best Zelda game, no question.
They should totally make a remake.
Roy Pherae I'd play it in a heartbeat, but part of the game's magic is its fully realized world that's deceivingly simple. The graphical limitations made the world seem interesting, but nothing special. It's when you progress through the game that the ins and outs of the complicated world become clear, and you realize just how brilliant the construction of the world really is. I don't know if a remake would be able to do the same. Who knows.
Roy Pherae there should also be a movie.
I have it on Emulator!
me too
but i cant save :p
Gerudo valley(OoT) , ballad of the windfish(LA) and astral observatory(MM) are three of the best
This beautiful song gets at the heart of a stage we all go through. To children dreams are like an alternate reality full of new places and people. Like Links journey they can be scary and full of monsters, but also enchanting places. Koholint was home to many friendly people including Marin, and time shared with her was even more tragic knowing she too would disappear.
This game is a perfect recreation of how children see dreams, and playing it, I once again feel that youthful sense of wonder.
Ça fais 7 ou 8 fois que je la réécoute et à chaque fois à la fin je peux pas m'empêcher de la remette, encore et encore
This is the most beautiful cover of this song that I've ever heard. Tears man, tears.
Ballad of the Windfish gonna play that at my Funeral :)
who said that im your friend ?
+cookieplayer HD chill
I just beat Link's Awakening, though I unfortunately did not get the final ending.
But I had already known the ending years ago when I saw a friend beat it, so more or less, I was playing through it to fill in the gaps in the story I didn't see, and so I could beat all the games. But this song... Hearing it play as you see the entire island disappear, especially when you see Marin singing in the village... Considering the limits of the technology on the Gameboy, this game was exceptional, and the story was fulfilling. Fighting the Nightmares of bosses from other games, and future games (one of them was similar to Vaati in Four Swords), and the waking of the Wind Fish, and it's mixed consequences. On one hand, you are saving yourself from the dream world, and freeing the Wind Fish of its Nightmares. On the other hand, all the people you met, who you helped... You made them disappear... This game was amazing.
this is absolutely marvellous
Nothing but calmness, nothing more, nothing less, 👏👏👏👏
So emotional version....
Anyone else get a bit of a Morrrowind feel from this?
Definitely, in fact, thats probably the reason I like this song so much.
The 2:02 mark, especially. Has that feeling that the Morrowind theme has when it builds up.
I've played all of the Zelda games, but this one will forever hold a special place in my heart. Waking up on the island and slowly developing bonds with its inhabitants only to have everything fade away, vanish becasue of your actions. In your own selfish drive to leave the island, you end up destroying it and everyone you grew to care for. Even after you realize the consiquences of your actions, it's too late to go back. So much philosophical complexity on just a 3 inch screen...Beautiful....
Am I the only one who sees Marin's face and blinks away tear when hearing this ?
*_feels intensifies_*
I used to stand in the town where maren would sing the song for you... I would listen to it over and over until I would fall asleep.
One of the greatest games of my childhood.
The Ballad of the Wind Fish is one of the best Zelda songs ever, and this is probably the best cover/remake of a Zelda song I have ever heard. Wonderful job, sir.
I love the song, but damn, I wish they could remake the game -- it's a classic that would translate pretty well into modern day. I like the Zeldas that have bright, cheery worlds contrasted by sad, bittersweet stories. Besides adding more dialogue and strengthening the connection between the characters to freshen the story, the core material could go relatively unchanged.
Besides, who wouldn't want to see what the island looked like in 3d? I think they could make a reimagined Koholint Island quite beautiful with the pseudo-cell shaded style of Skyward Sword or Breath of the Wild.
Does it live up to your expectations?
You’re a psychic lol. I see so many old comments about remaking the game, ironic 😅
REMAKE FUCK YEAH
When i was a little kid, my older brother played LoZ LA all the time, but never let me touch it. when he left for collage I finally got to try it. When I herd this melody for the first time, I was mesmerized. That melody as well as A Link To The Past made me a die-hard LoZ fan ever since. Good job Fox Amoore, this was an amazing remix of one one of my favorite LoZ songs
It's a simple game, but so beatiful. It touches right in the heart. It was an awesome experience.
I read the manga and cried so hard, that when i listen to this, i have to cry even more.
i didnt know sasuke read zelda manga. hmm
800blake
what else do you expect him to do? his mangas over, gotta find a new one.
***** very true. still i thought hed be reading something more shonen
I must've been 10 years old playing this game when I discovered dat attraction between Link and Marin. I wanted them to be together and was disappointed that Marin disappeared with Koholint. :'( Those dreams, boys and girls. Those were some (wet) dreams.
If you get 100% completion, you see Marin get her wish......
You actually must complete the game without having died once.
Optimalillusion Thanks for the reminder of bitter sweet memories. I did 100% w/o death on the GBA (using the DX cart) And cried (LITERALLY CRIED) at the end.
Oh man, the feels I get from this song. Every tear I have falls and every hair on my arm stands up
*Manly tears have been shed*
*tears*
This is the most beautiful Zelda Song ever.
2nd 1st is Zelds lullaby
+Parrallagram Emma Burns well in retro style its 2nd
I was wrong. I just played Majora's Mask Recently and I cried after saving the Father life of a little girl in Ikana Kingdome. The song searched in the bottom of my heart. Sorry but nothing is more beautiful than the song of Healing
Just completed another playthrough of this game... I had to gravitate straight to this video afterward. Such a beautiful, soothing piece... Thank you for uploading this!
...One thing about Truly Great Memories and Music that Makes it Legendary... After Countless years you Look back and Revisit the Places you once visit and Even Forgotten... theirs a Fine Line Between Fond Memories... And a Heartache.
2019 Link’s Reawakening
Sounds like it would fit in Skyward Sword.
totally
Its still missing in action. The remake anyways.
No, Skyward sucks, this is great!
To a fellow Zelda player PLZ robin, RIP. And thank you for all the joy and laughter you brought to ALOT.
I knew Fox Amoore before this, but I had no idea he made a Ballad of the Wind Fish remake. I am absolutely amazed and breathtaken and the majesty of this piece.
This kinda reminds me of Terra's Theme for some reason.
Terra from Teen Titans or Final Fantasy?
pkstarstorm1up Final Fantasy.
this makes me think of an old man. he sits alone in the park, you past by him once or twice a week. he often stares into the distance. or maybe the pond. sitting in only half the bench. you never bothered to talk to him. he is old his many years show on his face. wants to be in a public place bc it's just easier then sitting alone. it never occurs to you, does it? the memories eat at him. he can still remember the smell of her hair. the taste of her lips. he never loved like that again. yearning for the grace of her finger tips as they slide between his. the days advance. you see him a few more times. you wonder why he just sits there alone. the old man's insides still turning. it was an eternity for him. nothing was worth doing to the old man. eyes always kind of red. never really knew why... never really cared. then one night laying in bed thinking about all the daily things. the old man flashed in your mind. as you drift away I wonder what it's like to be old. you wake the next day on your way to school. part of you hopes to see the old man in the park again. in recent days he had been there every day. today... he wasn't there. he was gone. you sit in his spot you notice that there are two set of initials carved into the wood bench. you then realize they we his and hers... you knew in your heart. he was waiting to love her again. maybe this was the spot he told her he lived her. maybe the old man shared his frist kiss with her here. deep down you knew he was gone... your cried for a moment for someone you didn't even know... but the you smiled and knew that old old man was holding hands with her again...
Holy shit dude, thanks for the feels trip
UraKn0x I am sorry, but you're welcome.
This must be the most beautiful version I have ever heard, if not one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Brilliant, brilliant work this is.
I remember when I was four and used to play this game over and over again. Ugh my feels.
THIEF
This is too beautiful for words...thanks for composing one of my favorite legend of Zelda songs of all time:)
who would have thought that what was part of our past has returned to the present has forged beautiful memories bathed in nostalgia.
I've finally found it. I first heard this remake on a youtuber's list, but, my god, I applaud you.
This game isn't a game it's an experience.
This song was what made me fall in love with the wonderful polyphony that is Fox Amoore's music. His version of Ballad of the Windfish really demonstrates the extent to which the old Zelda tunes could have been developed given the technology.
Thank you so much Fox Amoore.
It is a whole new experience to listen to this with both noise cancelling earbuds in. I've said things have made me calm, but nothings has ever hit quite like this has. Especially after crying for an hour straight, this is one of the most amazing things to lay down and listen to, with nothing to interrupt your harmony.
LoZ LA was one of the first game boy games I ever played, and the first LoZ game I played. This song holds so, so many good memories. Back when I wasn't allowed to have a Game Boy and had to play the neighbor's copy... I had my own save file and everything. Man, this totally made my day. Thank you so much for sharing this remake. :)
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Words are lost within the peaceful bliss of this ballad.
its so slow and sad, but brings back those fabulous memories too. quite a wonderful mix of emotions, really.
This brings back memories! Link's Awakening was the first Zelda game I played. I miss the old days!
I just beat this game for the first time on my 3DS, it was one of the most personal experiences ever. There are games that are developed for years at a time in our current generation that would attempt to conquer the depth and emotion of Links Awakening, and they would all fall very short of acceptable by standards set by a game made more than nearly two decades ago. This game is seriously a masterpiece, as well as this rendition of what is quickly becoming my favorite song of all time. Thankyou
From the wind, into my soul. Across the lands, the fish flys.
I can never get enough of this song it brings me back to my child hood but it reminds me even then I still have to keep going time can't be stopped in one place; same goes with dreams too
Dude...literally cried....sorry it took me 15 years to find this...but thank you...absolutely gorgeous
I'm crying. So many moving things coming to my mind while listening to this wonderful theme played this way... :'{
One of only five things that get me to cry, and one of only 2 that can do so consistently...
When I discovered you, THIEF, my heart skipped a beat!
OMFG! This is an epic Remake of this wonderful piece. Thanks for bringing back childhood memories!
This game has brings up so many emotions in me with it's music.
This will forever be one of my favorite arrangements.
So much passion. Can't control my tears
first Zelda game I ever played, I've been humming this song for 3/4 of my life, and I'm only 16. This and Midna's Lament/ Desperate Hour hold a special place in my heart.
I just finished the game tonight. This is best remix of the tune. Thank you for making this.
Wow... So many awesome memories.
What a great remix! Thanks, this was really nostalgia filled for me.
It gives me shivers!!! Its such a beautiful song! Thank you Fox Amoore!
So much chills running through my spine as I listen to this.. so beautiful & amazing and a lot of awesome memory's playing this game
Oh my gosh, this is so beautiful! I just found my Gameboy Color the other day and I bought Link's Awakening online and I heard this song and HAD to search it on CZcams!! I love the music on the Legend of Zelda games. :'D
One of my favorite pieces from the entire series. You did an amazing job, Fox!
Had this song saved on my desktop before I saw this video. Truly the best remake of this song out there.
Manly tears have been shed today...
A beautiful blend of Celtic style and the Ballad itself. Be proud of the artist movement you've made and the joy you have brought so many it would seem. ^5
aw man, this was the first game i got to my gameboy.. Listening to this song brings back memories of how much time i put into playing that game, one of the games that started my present gaming life.. Good times, Good times^^
Such an enchanting song.
brings back so many memories...
OMG, I have tears in my eyes . . . this is so beautiful... WHOA, words can't discribe what I am feeling now !! Memories ... so much memories !!
The time has already gone . . . !! THANK YOU, THANK YOU VERY MUCH you're pretty amazing !!
Absolutely amazing
amazing song... amazing game... one of the all time best zelda games ever made... it brings me back to being a kid again i just couldnt help but to shed a tear when the flute stared playing...
I almost cried...this song can bring the peace within you.
Every time I listen to this, I'm amazed.
This is,... Beautiful.. Brought a tear to my eye.
