  • Instead of always trying to avoid having algae in our tanks maybe it time we think about algae differently! Algae is one of the best things to help keep your fish healthy by taking care of excess nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia that are harmful for fish. Not only does algae keep your fish healthy but it can make for an absolutely beautiful tank too! An algaescape is a great aquascape for breeding and raising fish fry and might be something you want to consider in the future!

Maybe I am lucky but I have never had an algae kill any plant. The plant is always dead - hence the algae. I like algae. I feel the love in this video…

How long does it take for the algae to grow like that? I love this. LRB aquatics is doing the same thing for a lot of his tanks in his fishroom. I just can never get the algae to grow though. My tank has some lava rock mixed with soil substrate, i leave the light on longer. But i do water top offs, could that be why it’s not growing 😂

There are different reasons that you could be struggling to grow algae like this but the first ones that come to mind are 1. Not enough light intensity/duration 2. Water doesn't have enough nutrients (plants use them and hair algae like mine enjoys more iron) 3. Fish are eating the algae. Hope that helps.
