Regardless, it's great to see heavy-hitters like Sigma entering the Fujifilm space, finally! I feel like the 30mm rendered more muted colors / affected the white balance a bit, which I've noticed from many Sigma lenses in the past. Both seem like good options.

I have purchased Fujinon 23mm f2 and Sigma 30mm f1.4. My plan was to test them during week, make decision and return one of them back to shop. I cannot be more suprised - I didn't need week, not day, not one hour. After few shoots I can tell you that Sigma for Fujifilm is much more SHARPER, of course it has BETTER BOKEH (I cant compare with fujinon 23 f1.4, but this one has old SLOOOWER AF speed). As bonus - Sigma is cheaper.

John love your videos, my very first camera was a Fujifilm about 15 years ago as a teen and fell in love with photography but never got motivated. I’m in my 30’s now and I’ve started a small business BUT with CANON. Just because I fell in love with the native colors it offers when taking pictures. I also love how easy it is to work with. BUT my heart still lies with Fujifilm and since I’ve spent so much money on Canon gear and equipment I’m afraid to go and get a Fujifilm camera. My eyes have been set on the XT3 and XT4. Am I crazy to do this? And if I do, do you recommend me adapting all my EF lenses to this or just selling them? ALSO, what Fujifilm camera show I start off with if not the XT3 or 4.

@@stefan33uk Big big fan of the updated 1.4's! The upgraded af and iq made it a no-brainer in replacing my prime lineup for pro work. HOWEVER, I couldn't bring myself to sell my 35 f2. I also have the 33, but the smaller size just feels so perfect on the xt30 that it lives on. The xt3's stay at home during vacations, but that xt30 + 35 f2 combo goes with me everywhere :)

Thanks for the quality video!!!! comparing 2 lenses I desire
And XF 33mm 1.4 so perfect
with sharpness and more effective AF
BUT most important, skin tone is more sweet and reddish with XF33 1.4
On the contrary, skin tone is yellowish with sigma 30. And I don't like that.
the price of XF33 is reasonable
and I believe everyone using FUJI camera do care about color (especially skin tone)

You can't really go wrong with either lens but the Fuji, to me anyway, was overall a much better lens (as it should be for the price!). It had much more subtle gradations of colour and tones and rendered much finer details, especially in the shadows/blacks - sometimes the Sigma lost all detail in these areas. Great shots with both lenses though!!!

Sigma seems to have stronger chromatic contrast, and also seems to be a bit sharper. I'm interested in how the Sigma would handle though as it doesn't have the aperture ring that I've become so used to on all of Fujifilms lens offerings
