I'll never understand why members of Congress are allowed to just walk out (or not appear at all) during hearings and other legislative sessions. Even children in school are required to sit in place for eight or so hours a day. Surely members of Congress can be required to do the same?
I'm tired of Republicans choosing to not show up to hearings they don't want to participate in, or walking out every time someone who disagrees with them is speaking. It's irresponsible, immature, and petty. If they can't even bother themselves to listen to opposing viewpoints in good faith (meaning: with the mindset that they *could* be wrong and want to make sure they're actually right, and that they care what others think even if those people disagree with them), they should not hold their jobs. We need rules in place requiring all members of Congress to be present for the vast majority of every session they attend, and requiring them to attend the vast majority of sessions that they are eligible to take part in.
Republican lawmakers don't even want to put in the hours to do their jobs. They just want to spew their bullsh*t talking points, get their media coverage, and leave. That needs to be illegal.
It always enrages me whenever they vote themselves raises!
WE the voters should be deciding IF THEY'VE EARNED a raise; each, based on their personal PERFORMANCE. There should be a base 'starting wage'. Make them plead their cases for raises by telling us what they got accomplished while in office.

Dreamed of retiring there until….well, you know, they went completely off the rails with the past occupant in our White House, who incidentally forced me to leave the party. Anyway, if Ms. Crockett is the future and speaking for me, I’ll have to rethink my decision. She is a fierce force and an intelligent woman that is still able to be respectful and highly respected while pointing out her colleagues lack of education.
