The hybrids and electric’s sound like ufo’s lol

"Follow the money. Governments lie." Love it.
Oh I get it! Because the government claims to make the money, but if you follow the money trail, you’ll discover the government is actually broke :o
I need that
So do pharmaceutical companies.
That about sums up most Canadian's opinion about our government at the moment.
@@jerk5959 any goverment
Toyota has a customer service phone number and website you can contact to voice a complaint. I did this regarding a Camry engine belt tensioner that broke while the dealer was replacing the fan belt. The dealer told me, sorry, you gotta' pay for a new tensioner. I called Toyota to complain that it was the dealer's fault, not mine. Toyota agreed and reimbursed me for the cost of the new tensioner. This intermediate shaft issue may be a case where it'd be a good idea to contact Toyota.
This is the way for solving the problem!
Bottom up, up, until they fix the problem caused by their staff.👍
Yes
My brake booster failed in my Prius about a month after they stopped fixing them for free and I wasn't able to do it then because they refuse to do it unless my car was showing a code even though you could audibly hear it failing. Toyota support was particularly unhelpful for me in that situation
Toyota is not the haven that it once was 😒
You read through the different threads Toyota is not taking care of their customers like they once did in the past.
@@icosthop9998 I hope you're wrong, but you may be right.
I’ve noticed putting hub caps on steel rims it throws the balance off and makes the car shake like CRAZY
Cuz snow and ice gets stuck between the caps and rim.
Best to not have hub caps in winter weather anyways
That's my current setup and I've never had that problem. And Ice caking can happen inside rims, with or without caps.
Scotty admitting that Toyota is cheapening out making some garbage hurts his soul. We all know how he would’ve trashed the company if this was a Chrysler, Nissan, Kia, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen etc with the same issue. 😂😂😂
Even though it hurts him , he is giving us the truth.
Scotty has been doing that for years. If Toyota is making bad parts or Vehicles he calls it out.
He's called toyota out quite a few times...this isn't th first time
.
It hurts with VW 20 years ago a diesel VW was insanely reliable and in the same league as Honda and Toyota but since the mid 2000s VW have progressively got worse and cheaper built. Today Toyota and Honda still sit at the top with the South Koreans just a little behind with Hyundai and Kia.
I don’t understand the argument. Miles wear out cars, not time, so time is not the unit of interest. It’s mileage.
Steel Rims work better in snowy winters where they use salt on the roads .
Aluminum rims will corrode from salt and can leak around the edge of the tire .
Youll see it a lot up here in the Rust belt .
You get up having to get the tires sealed by a mechanic to stop the leaks.
Interesting. I never had problems with aluminium rims during winter for the last deacade
The reason they’re better is because they’re heavier giving you more grip
Never turn the wheels when the engine ( power steering) isn't running. Power steering shafts aren't made to be muscled without power.
Those aren't "Crappy rims" Scotty, they're "Steelies" and the can look quite cool......
Crappy Tire rims maybe? lol
I did the same..got for steel rims from Toyota and mounted Goodyear wranglers on them. Steel rims are better on pot hoped roads
He meant crappy as in appearance
Scotty sings the virtues of steel wheels all the time.
I like the "rugged" look of steel wheels. they're meant to be used and abused.
@MrHmongrice me too I like that look with huge tire stickers
You should always put 4 snow tires on a car. In a FWD car, if you put them on the front only, the car will want to fishtail in slick conditions.
its a two wheel drive
@@cap8eyes but car has 4 wheels not 2
Put sandbangs in the rear seats and the trunk (I put 2 - 70 lb sandbags behind the front seats, and 2 more in the trunk over the rear axle. Doesn't seem to impact fuel economy that much (lost maybe 2mpg). I found this to be as effective in most cases as having winter tires (and I don't have to pay for an extra set of tires). I like in the mid-west by the way so we get plenty of snow and ice. The only ONE place I sometimes have issues is when ice builds up at the end of my driveway but I don't think snow tires would help that anyway. Plus I'm still running the OEM tires on mine (although they will be replaced with better ones this coming December).
@@vipvip-tf9rw hahaahaaa yes yes yes.
no, it wont. you can have slicks on the rear and it wont.
snow tires should always go on all 4 wheels for proper cornering and braking
yeah they do other wise your asking for problems
I dont think Scotty uses brakes ;)
Totally agree with you Scotty K. I am supposed to get my 2023 Toyota Cross tomorrow ( or this week maybe) due to the snowstorm here in Ontario we are getting as we speak. I heard these steering noise iarereally common on the whole car line. Hmmm. Never had that with my 07 Dodge Caravan. Keeping it too! backup. Runs like a dream, all new suspension, wheels, never had an issue with in. EVER. Love your show. We used to cross over at Lewiston al,l the time back in the day. We always got ripped off for vehicles here in Canada. Just the way it is. England is worse. For everything there!
TY
You Canadians are trying to make it look like it aint that bad to be here in America after all. 😳
This is the first time I disagree with Scotty, after 100s of videos. Car warrantees all give so many years and so many miles. If you are offside you're offside. I see nothing wrong. However, Scotty makes the point that the what broke is an inherent problem and Toyota knows it. But still.
07 Dodge included Daimler parts and technology
Don't listen to Scotty, buy 4 winters and you won't regret it. Or you can buy two like Scotty said and if you have an accident send the bill to Scotty.
Correct. Snow tires on the front alone makes a car want to fishtail in slick conditions.
Yep. ABYSMAL "advice" from ol' Scotty.
@@seanthompson8071 It's front wheel drive, there's nothing going to the back to make it fishtail. At worst is will just understeer.
@@archiethedog4515 no, it will fishtail, I used to do it, almost died, very dangerous, actually illegal up north now
I run 4 snows on my 2000 Crown Vic LX with 100 pounds of sand in the trunk. I've never gotten stuck yet.😲😲😲
Here in Quebec Canada it’s the law to have 4 snow tires from Dec.15 th to march. 15 th. Most including myself have seperate steel rims for our 4 snow tires , and our summer tires on the mag rims. The winter tires are softer rubber wear faster above 7 degrees Celsius or approx 44 f. Some have studded tires but those are illegal. Also having snow tires on 5 months a year prolongs the life of your summer tires . I also get my car oil sprayed every fall for rust prevention. It’s a mineral oil sprayed under car chassis, under hood , drill a hole in door and spray inside all doors and truck lids , bumpers. Metropolitian rustproofing here in Montreal area.
T'as fait shooter ton char chez Metropolitain?? 😉
I live in America. I’m taking ur advice. I’m buying winter tires for my car in the winter ❄️. That really smart🍷
@@natelove187
Get FOUR, NOT two!
The oil spraying i never heard of, good tip. 👍😊
Metropolitain is a Quebec only rustproofing company.
My wife and I have a Scion XB before we went to a 213 Mazda CX-5. That Scion went through two master brake cylinders. Both were covered by warranty. The 2013 CX-5 had about 80k when we upgraded. Nothing was ever done to it except routine maintenance and one recall which was a software upgrade. We're still stuck on Mazda.
I went from decades of Hondas to Mazda. Won't be going back anytime soon.
I still drive a 2011 Scion xB with 200,000 miles and only replaced the alternator with no other problems, they’re all not bad.
Dunno what alternate universe you live in where Mazdas are quality, lasting vehicles.
90% of them over 12 years old are scrapped.
Buy a Honda.
@@bruce3870”Over 12 years old” yeah those are the Ford era Mazdas the newer Mazdas are very solid
I had the same thing happen with a new Camry. I drove a lot at the time and had put 95K on the car in about 2 years. I forget now what the issue was, but something failed/broke that cost me $1200 to repair. And it also had a squeak near the back window since new that they could never fix. So after the $1200 repair on a 2-year old car, I traded for... a Chrysler. I drove that Chrysler for 175K and never had any issues whatsoever. I traded it for another Chrysler and had no issues for 150K miles. I only left Chrysler (for Honda) because they stopped making a model that suited my needs.
I hear that squeak in my 2018!
Scotty is the brand ambassador of Toyota. They don't dare to make him mad or ELSE he'll use his publicity and millions of followers to expose them
The winter rims shown are clearly new and not used from a junkyard as Scotty stated.
wheels not rims bozo
@@airuzair2424 No need to be insulting. The wheels on a vehicle consist of the tires and rims. I was correctly referring to the rims that the tires are mounted on.
Have a blessed day.
Don't be bothered he uz full of air.
That may be what the customer told him.
Perhaps the owner did a fair job repainting them. ?
We live in northcentral BC and it is law to have snow tires on all four wheels from Oct 1 to April 1. Whether 2 wd or 4wd makes no diference.
Not law here in Ontario, but still recommend to have snow tires 🛞 in the winter ❄️
I am just down highway 16 and the BC law is 2 matching winter tires on the drive axle at minimum. All 4 winter tires are just a recommendation.
No such law in Ontario , just wall to wall newcomers driving BMW'$ & MERCEDE$ with bald low profile tires. Loads of wreck and traffic jams on a day like today.
@@jafo766 New Canadians are not familiar with winter driving. Sadly, they are risking the lives of others with low profile tires on their white BMW’s travelling 130 kph on the 401.
Law or not... "Recommendation" or not... Putting only 2 winters on a 2WD or 4WD is just plain... (starts with RE, rhymes with PARTED).
When radial tires first came out they were excellent, in the 70's, 80's and 90's we never needed snows, and I live in snow country. After using bias ply snow tires for years these new radials were amazing. In my opinion the advent of stiff, wide, low profile tires has made the newer all season tires useless in snow and ice. Just my opinion based on lots of driving experience.
I’ve had two Highlanders, 2010 and 2015 that both had intermediate steering shaft failures. I would’ve thought Toyota would fix the problem in newer models. Disappointing!
Very disappointing.
Toyota is not the haven that it once was 😒
You read through the different threads, Toyota is not taking care of their customers like they once did in the past.
"Event 201" on the license plates....love it!!!
Same with my Sienna. Started at 65 ,000 miles . They have had this problem for a long time. Toyota said if I have it fixed they will pay a part of the repair. I filed a complaint with the NTSB . He should too
You need to have all 4 snows for the insurance break. Also with such high mileage, he'll probably have to rotate his tires a few times a season.
My wife, (girlfriend at the time) bought an '86 Celica GT-S brand new, and she was putting too many miles on it, so I noted the tachometer was at 3300 RPM at 60 MPH, and then disconnected the speedometer cable for two years! It was easy to do back in the day!! LOL!!
I wish I had enough money to open the biggest auto shop with Scotty. He is really great and honest.
Anyone else like to see Scotty branch off into another universe? I'm thinking I would pay good money to see Scotty's Marriage Counselling channel. That would be a popcorn/beer/watch party item!
I had a 2002 Camry. Delivered brand new with the steering shaft problem. Also power door locks broke. Also struts leaked. Also sticking downshift transmission. Told it was normal.
Putting winter tires only in the front is a bad idea. Your backend comes around surprisingly easy .
It all depends on the fine print in the warranty card. There's no use in complaining if your warranty is void.
A few years ago GM had the same problem with their vehicles. So told not to worry just pack the spline with greese.
My Uber had a Camry and I tell you this car is so comfortable you can sit in that car all day happy
Mazda gives an unlimited kms warranty in Canada on all their cars.
The CV joints can go bad on these cars too. I work at O'Reillys so I know. My Saturn SL2 CV joints lasted 27 years, and the ones I replaced them with from my donor car were 21 years old and in good shape...lol
IIRC, the warranty is like "yy" years OR "xxxxxx" miles which ever COMES FIRST. QED! In most cases, it's the TIME that expires first and we all accept that.
The *"BACK IN THE DAY"* Toyota Dealerships I remember, weren't like the *"CHEAP CHEAP"* Toyota Dealerships of today. Overall it makes Toyota itself look bad. It's sad, really.😲😲😲
Come on Scotty, putting that kind of miles per year increases the cost of so many wear items.... matters not if its 2 yrs or 10.
My 2004 Highlander had this exact same problem at 53K miles.
Hi Scotty, my 019 camry with only 82k has this exact same problem. The car is almost undriveable with this steering problem. The real slap in the face is that if this was an 018 model it would have an extended warranty. But not me. I contacted toyota canada and they were very sympathetic but of little help. Toyota told me to get it fixed at the stealership, same price about $1000 can, (and that is before our 100% sales tax) in order to continue the ticket. So hopefully you can help me as well. Fingers crossed. Stealership also said they also have this problem from time to time with the tacomas. Anyway there goes our much needed vacation trip this march break. Thanks for this video at least now I don't feel so alone. PEI, canada
I live in New York Toyota gave me 150K miles or 7 years mines went out around 50K
@@andersonrodriguez8258 50k miles, roughly the same as the 82k kilometers on mine. 82 x 6 divide by 10. Thanks for the reply.
Ol' Scotty suggesting you only put snow tires up front... Great way to get you listeners killed there, ol' Scotty!
The Corolla owner did not need to replace the steering column shaft. The solution was to loosen the 12mm nut at the steering kunkle inside the driver's side and move it up about 1" and retighten the nut. Clunking noise will be gone. No parts needed. Confirm this by watching a CZcams channel called, 'The Car Car Nut' who is a independent Toyota Master mechanic. View his video entitled, 'This is One Toyota Corolla Model You Might Want to Avoid Unless The Engine's Been Fixed' starting at 14 minute mark. Toyota dealer knows about this issue; just another example of dealerships screwing the customer. Always take your vehicles to independent garages.
My camry’s IS went at 44k. Thankfully my warranty was still good.
He knew the warranty when he bought the car, and yet he drove the hell out of it. Even if this "known defect" had been "secretly" warrantied by a Technical Service Bulletin, it would unlikely had extended coverage past 100k, so he still would have been charged. If he couldn't live the standard warranty, he should have purchased an extended one from either the dealer or a third party.
Mines is 150K/7 years Toyota have me on my 2018 Toyota Camry I replace mine with like 50K miles last year it went bad
@andersonrodriguez8258 the new one went bad? Or the old one? Sorry I can't really read that good
Agreed. You drive Uber, or Lyft, you're gonna kill your factory warranty mileage wise in no time. Been there, done that
In Canada, tire shops will not allow you to purchase only two winter tires as the claim is that the back end will slide out if you only place winter tires in the front.
The warranty says X years, X miles. Why is the a difficult concept?
He was not under warranty, period.
I stopped buying TOYOTA long time ago. TOYOTA vehicles are NOT what they used to be.
This happened to me to but it was just under the warrenty so I didn't have to pay for it. I have a 2019 Camry
They can reverse the charge, they just won't.

warranty says specifically within the year or mileage... so can't complain.. if the shaft is known issue, the manufacturer should do a recall

I HEARD a great tip for recognizing whether a used car has been in a flood or submerged in water. Pull out the seat belt all the way out till you reach the very end and check for mold, dirt, discoloration from water. I thought that this is very doable and easy, and a quick indication for hidden water damage.
Love the Event 201 plates!
If you don't know what it is look it up.
I never go to Starbucks. That deal with the massive overcharge clinches it.
There is a customer support program for the intermediate shaft.
Not really Starbuck fault to refund that mistake. The financial companies that process payments will kibosh any refund over a few hundred dollars. Red flags go up. Then again, not sure how they screwed it up in the first place. I once got double charged on my debit for a hotel stay... The hotel manager actually showed me their interac receipts for that day. The bank screwed up but I got a refund about 2 weeks later
Older Toyotas last longer than newer. Just like any older car! Newer cars aren’t the same as old!
I've got two Toyotas, a 2007 Highlander and this car. Bought the Camry hybrid in 2022 with 34,000 miles on it. Absolutely love it, a blast to drive and I'm averaging 49 MPG. My Highlander has been as reliable as a hammer and has just over 380,000 miles on it. I bought it in 2007 with 11,000 miles on it. She vibrates like a Maytag compared to the hybrid but that's it. Love Toyotas build quality and am staying with the brand for now.
I’ve owned 17 Toyotas over the years and I have discovered that they are becoming more and more cheaply made. I’m looking at other manufacturers to see if that are making better vehicles. Though I suspect everything is going to the junk-yard dogs.
that woman at the gas station tho.. man I love when you blend in these funny little pictures. greetings from germany
2018 Honda HRV - Continuously variable transmission dead at less than 89,000. Honda paid 75%. Folks, if you have a CVT and the belt breaks, you replace the ENTIRE transmission. You should keep at least $5,000 set aside just in case your manufacturer won't pay anything. Honda paid because someone at the dealership worked hard for us. Do you think your dealership cares that much for you? Old fashioned transmissions are the way to go. Mazda - old fashioned transmissions. Subaru - all CVT. Toyota RAV 4 - some CVT. Honda - HRV, CRV and Civic all CVT. Ask very specific questions.
Await the follow up on that Canadian steering issue...DVD:)
I can't agree with you on this one. Warranty is warranty. If it's two years or x amount of miles than you knew that when you bought it
That mileage in such sort time, lifestyle choices eh?
The same thing happened to my 2020 Toyota Camry hybrid... after 162,000 miles... 4 years...
yes but in the US they have a TSB on replacing it regardless of miles.. i hope you got it fixed cause toyota canada declined my request
If you choose the manual transmission, will have less maintenance in the long run. And will be reliable.
Yes but it won't be this Camry.
You reminded me of a vacation me and my family took to Niagara Falls.we went across the border to Canada and passed a gas station.l noticed the price on the big sign in front,l turned around and pulled in to fill up my tank, after I was done l was shocked at how much I paid ,l didn’t realize it was was priced in liters,You are right to much more expensive

The clunk is not cheap to fix and it comes back as the new part wears in. Happened to me. This clunk has been happening for a long time. My car was a 2013.
Scotty, my wife and i had a couple issues with a Toyota dealership here in Calgary Alberta. They are scam artists here in Canada. Not kidding.
You know you’re mad when you drove for the top of Canada to TN just to have Scotty help you in a battle with the big T.
Hey Scotty, What do you think about the new Toyota Crown? I would love to see you review the car if you get your hands on one.
TLDR: If you drive a car a lot, you can blow past the warranty mileage limit before reaching the warranty calendar limit. If you do that, the dealer / maker may not replace affected parts under the warranty.
In Canada, I do not know of any tire dealer that will sell just 2 winter tires in Canada. I had a 1978 Plymouth Horizon and I got 2 winter tires back then. (It was my wife's car.) Well, decades later on a different vehicle, I had a tire that could not be fixed because the hole was too big. The new tires went on the rear even though it was a FWD vehicle. Road tests have been done and the rear tires are "most important" so that is where the new tires went. It was a big box store that sells bargain price hot dogs. 😊
I had this same problem but they only recalling 2018 and some 2019 models I did mines at 50K around there Toyota gave me a 150K miles or 7 years warranty on the steering shalf but I’m seeing 2020 models have the same issues too interesting
Scotty just described why I only use cash in cafe's and restaurants
Smart
After this I'm gonna start doing the same, I don't like it when they take the credit card from you and go in the back.
Cant blame the dealer, the warranty is the warranty, and he's not covered anymore. Known issues are never fixed for free outside of warranty, by any dealer that i know of, regardless of manufacture.
Your really happy scotty fair play bud all the best from Oxford,England
I hope Scotty "does" follow up on it, then I hope he gives us information on the follow-up. 🤔

My 2012 Prius got the inverter replaced in 2022 and the brake booster replaced in 2023. Thankfully covered by 2 warranty enhancement programs, would have been like $7k in repairs for those.
Toyota declined to pay for the repair of my sisters 2018 Prius that had the leaking heat exchanger. The dealer wanted to replace the head gasket or the entire engine. There was a warranty TSB for the heat exchanger but it stopped at 80k miles, she was 7k over.
I am having a hesitant engine in a RAV4 2022, 10000 miles 😮. Two visits to dealers. Toyota keep saying that I have nothing to worry about.
3:49 seriously do all four for cornering- especially in Downstate New York.
He should have dealt with his car when he noticed a problem with his steering he is out of time needs to avoid these warranties?
I just got rid of my 2021 Rav4. It had 11k miles on it when it suddenly started making weird noises when I turned. Toyota had it for a week, couldn't figure out what the issue was, found bad strut bearings, still didn't fix the issue, so they told me they all do it and sent me home. I will never buy another brand new toyota, I'd rather have an old one.
Same thing that they did with the brake booster on the prius.
Warranty plainly state 5 yrs OR 60,000 miles. Just because you drive the wheels off it doesn't change the warranty.
You are so right our gasoline and diesel are tax to death! The diesel is generally speaking anywhere between 30 and $.50 a litre more expensive than gasoline regular. As always I enjoy your videos. And hello from Toronto 🇨🇦
Love Scotty’s knowledge
Like suggesting you put snow tires only up front?... THAT kind of "knowledge?"
I had a 2008 Prius that failed a small electronic part ($350 plus rental) at about 36+++ miles and just over three years. The local dealer (where I didn't buy it) either failed to see if Toyota would pay for it or just screwed me.
I can't complain about Toyota. They replaced a $600 computer on my 2011 Avalon charging only labor!!!
Thank you Scotty. Buying steel wheels from junk yards to mount snow tires is an excellent idea. Been doing this for forty years. Every time the wheels are delivered the manufactures papers are still attached. The yard buys the wheels directly from the factory, when the manufacturer overproduces and sells them in lots. Brand new wheels for junk yard price.
Talked to a taxi driver the other day owns a fleet of camerys he said you can’t go wrong most pushing half mil Ks no problems.

That is a great term. So true.
3 years or 36k miles, whichever comes first, that's the way the warranties work Scottie, i have a 2011 Fusion that the electric power steering doesn't work, but there is a recall, but... my car was made 6 days before the recall, same part, same plant, but no recall for my car, i've been waiting to hear back from NHTSA for about 8 months now
Can I ask where he fixed it for $950? I also live in Ontario and have a Sienna suspecting it doing the same
Thanks for dropping this after i bought a Rav, its a 2020 too, good thing i bought an extended warranty i guess.
130k miles in 2 years is crazy!
denied my claim for a cv shaft under warranty too. cost me 600 bucks. they said it was aftermarket with 30k on it. it was not. i still buy toyota
It takes two months for the bank to reverse the charges. A check is faster if it doesn't bounce.
Respect for the guy with the “Event 201” front plate. We do what we can, right?
I had a 2018 Camry Le, and the air compressor went out! I have no clue how that could have even happened?! It was going to be 1800 to replace it!
C'mon Scotty, I just bought a new 2023 Toyota Highlander Hybrid and so far I have put about 3000 miles on it. It's quiet, surprisingly economical (averages about 38 mpg), has fast acceleration, and has amazing electronics. If you were grousing about new Ford Trucks, Kia and Hyundai, I would agree with you. This guy's Toyota Camry is a beast but the franchise dealerships can be thieves. The problem is not the Toyota Camry, it's the crooked franchise dealership. Report them to Toyota
