Thanks for making this video. I just bought a Puma folding knife from the Toronto Sportsman Show and want to make a sheath for it. This is exactly what I need to do.
Just bought some supplies to try this for my Gerber multi tool . Thanks for the lesson Kyle !!
Thank you so much. I stay in a small town in South Africa. I am the only leather crafter around and depend on nice people like you to teach me how to make things.

This is a long over due video for us diy leather makers out here. I use this same technique for molding leather. Great video man!
Thanks man!
Thanks for the ideas. I have a customers Gerber folding knife he wants a case made for . I tried a couple of ways to do it but the knife is quite big and nothing seemed to work the way I wanted . I will go with your wood form idea. Thanks again from Alberta.
Wonderfully done Kyle...you have one heck of a talent. Well done. Have a great weekend with the Fam !!!!! Be blessed
That looks really good. I can't say I wasn't a little skeptical of how it would turn out looking, but you cleaned up the edges extremely well, the stitching looks very well done, and even without dye it looks amazing.
haha I don't have a problem with doubt! Thanks for staying and seeing the result though! That's the important part!
Leather working is so satisfying isn't it, I have mainly made sheaths for my knives but I am looking for some other projects, I am going to give the wetmoulding a go for sure, your videos are great man,I love 'em..
Great video. I used the same wetting process to fit my six shooters to some new leather. Worked great.
very nice sheath and excellent craftsmanship.
Awesome job and great to watch thank you 😊
Great video! You are an artist!
How are you so good at so many different skills??
Yes b'ye!!!! I have been putting some cash aside for buying some from my patriot supply and was going to use the wranglerstar link once I have the spare cash but not a chance now I will be using yours.
Thanks so much Doug! The product and packaging are really something special.
Nice work 👍🏻
Very good information thank you very much
nice work
It would also be very helpful to see how you make your molds. I am not a woodworker at all, but am starting to think I need to familiarize myself, especially with the mold making as I'm a fan of wet molded sheaths and bags.
Seriously hope your next workshop has a good heat source. How nice would it be to be working next to a cracking wood stove.
I just want to say hi and thanks 😊
Howdy Kyle! I enjoy watching your videos, thanks for the tips! I had a question for one of your videos a while back, on sharpening knives. You mentioned that when starting the sharpening process on a whetstone, it's fine to use cutting and stropping strokes. Does that also apply to ceramic hones, diamond sharpeners, sharpening steels, etc?
Kyle, this was a great idea for a vid. I would love to give this a try in the future. I sure wish you would have spent more time on the finishing details - after wet shaping - since I am absolutely clueless. Especially sewing the two pieces together after glueing. Maybe you can do a part 2? Or a long version? Thanks!
Weaver has a bunch of videos on that. Really helpful.
Question: How do you dye around the snaps and rivets? I always dye first before I set anything cause I'm afraid of getting dye on my metal pieces. Informative video. Thanks.
I've done a handful of wet molded projects over the years and wasted a lot of material in the process. The last one I did was a couple of years back for a side arm. It was a whole new kettle of fish. It took me 3 tries to get it and I swore id never do another one but im going to do my restricted course this summer so who knows.

Is there a reason not to soak the leather in a pan of water before the molding process?
Nope! I mean, there is no need either.
Do you have a personal preference when it comes to what material to use for a sheath? Micarta, leather, etc?
I really need to do more leather work. All I've ever made so far are dog collars
Kyle, what do you think about putting a row of stitching in the part that the button is on that keeps the tool in the sheath? It would only be ascetic and serve no real purpose but I think it would look nice.
I'm not sure where you're talking about, exactly?
@@kyle_noseworthy the flap that closes over the tool to retain it in the sheath. The edge of that would look sharp with some stitching around it the same as the res of the sheath. It wouldn't be sewn to any other leather so it wouldn't be for anything but looks but I think it would look nice.
@@MDKDAF Oh! Gotcha. Yea, that would look great I'm sure
I had a question on the last video about white leather gloves you use? great videos keep up the good work
Yep, I saw it but didn't get to replying. I'm sorry, but I don't know the brand!
@@kyle_noseworthy or where you purchased them?
Learn to condense your videos. You’re doing alright but wayyyyy tooooo long.
