I lived in Sandro's country for 20 years (now I am in Barcelona). His country is Argentina and his language is spanish, with some variations. Women of his generation were crazy for him, especially in the 70s. They yelled a lot and even throw him their underwear while he was singing. You MUST translate this and some other of his lyrics, they are VERY romantic poetry. He used to perform very particular and sensual movements in other songs too.
My favorite songs by him are this one, "Penumbras", "Así", "Noche de Amantes" and "Pobre mi madre querida" (which is may be his most sad song, dedicated to a mother; you WILL suffer especially if you translate this one).
I am glad that you discovered him from such a distant and different country like yours, and that you liked his voice even without understanding what he said. I think he deserved a worldwide internacional career, but it seems that he did not like to take airplanes.
He died in 2010 at age 64, due to his cigarette addiction.
