Why is Marty talking about his Movies? 🤔 Cause I never forget the feeling of first time watching Taxi Driver Goodfellas Casino Wolf of the wall street The Departed The king of Comedy. These movies are so memorable and I never forget the beautiful feeling watching these movies for the first time and then repeating all of these.
@@dariussalepetru6770 Also, The Last Temptation of Christ. Which funnily, might be Martin Scorsese’s most watched movie. But it’s more remembered for being controversial than good.
Cinema is the attempt to make something new. Even if it sucks, even if you realize at the end your movie is too full of cliches and tropes. It's the attempt to make something new. That's why with each sequel, unless something new is injected with each sequel, it starts to feel less cinematic. Marvel's problem is not that they are bad movies, it's that it's television in public. The script is the same, the dialogue is the same, the beats are the same, even the lighting and costumes don't change. It's no longer cinema, it's content, really good content sometimes, but not something new or even trying to be new.
Nobody cares about cinema anymore the niche autuers on the fest circuit just ain't really worth it. To get to a decent film you go through such endless film lists reviews ect. Best film last 6 months: Accused ( Spain / 2010s) blew me away. Done before but this was perfection.
You think you're making some profound point, but that could be said about literally any form of artistic expression ever. Theatre, dance, music, literature, painting, drawing, animation, sculpture, architecture, etcetera. They are all technically entertaining or enjoyable distractions from everyday life, but this does not preclude them from possessing artistic merit or creative intent. Those two facts are not mutually exclusive in any way whatsoever. So you should either admit that your remark is asinine and reconsider your position, or extend your argument to its logical conclusion - which is that there is no such thing as art. An even more fatuous notion, really.
Artistic films and fun films are both equally important to cinema because you can’t watch the godfather all the time no matter how good it is you sometimes need a movie like idk Ford Vs Ferrari where you don’t have to think much and just have fun
