CHUTE FIX INSTALLATION VIDEO: • Ego 2 Stage Snowblower...
Woke up on Jan 2 2021 to bit of snow, The plow had gone by twice, so I figured it was time to take out the Ego SNT2400
I had it going a bit too quickly and pushing it on the first pass, and it stops at 55 seconds. I slowed it down and decided to take less snow each pass. Otherwise this thing's a beast. Hope the batteries last a long time. After I was done the driveway, my wife cleared out the back deck, and we blew that snow pile into the corner of the back yard, and I still had 2 lights left on the batteries. Our deck is rather large 2 level that wraps around 3/5 of our pool so you could imagine how much more snow we continued to clear with the Ego after.
Ok I’m impressed. Glad to see that you guys showed how the snowblower works at the end of the driveway where the snow really piles up from the plows. Great video...right to the point. 👍
Our pleasure! We figured we'd demonstrate what we were looking for in a snowblower. It is tough to find an up close and personal video of road-snow removal with anything electric.
Love it - It's great to see an electric doing as well as an gas one.. without all the required maintenance.
No muss, no fuss....plug and play. Don't have to wait to warm it up either. I dont recharge the batteries right away because they discharge slowly...you're not supposed to leave a fully charged battery sitting around for a while. When I see the meteorological predictions say there's going to be lots of snow that's when I charge the batteries
NixonRider ça sonne comme Alex ça :P
That whining noise sounds like me after I finish shoveling. I'm buying one of these!
worth it. had an electric shovel last year, was good, but not good enough for the road stuff
Thank you for being the first person to show this machine going through the plow bank and filming close. Most of the other videos are either just a few inches of light snow or filmed from a stationary point far away in the garage, etc. you are showing me a real life example similar to my conditions. Looks like this could be a great machine for my needs.
No problem! This is what I wanted to know when I was first looking at snowblowers, but couldn't find any videos that showed exactly how it managed at the road.
@@panNCR Part of me getting one last week was because of your snow bank example. I tried it today, and this thing really impressed me. The distance is pretty impressive.
awesome. if you're looking to save battery life, run it either in eco mode or half way for the auger. most times I have it lower than shown in this video
@@panNCR yeah I kept auger speed pretty high as I was trying to impress my neighbors lol. I have 6x 7.5ah batteries so I'm not worried. I did asidewalk for all 7 of neighbors and cleared approx 4 parking spots of heavy wet snow. I cant wait for the next snow
Thanks for the excellent video. Real world demonstration really makes a difference.
Thanks for the demonstration. I am looking into investing in a snow blower for next winter as I am tired of shoveling. I haven't really looked into gas blowers, but this battery powered one looks like it will work just fine. Thanks for the demonstration.
Glad it was helpful!
Video straight to the point, simple and it was exactly what I wanted to see. Looks like battery powered snowblower is performing really great in that amount of snow. Thanks 🌨 ❄️ ☃️
I had the auger on turbo which is why it sounds loud, I wanted to demo the full power of it, which works amazingly well. Expensive, but all costs are up front, with zero maintenance for the motor
@@panNCR Yeah totally awesome, and the 0 maintenance is a plus for me. I have a small driveway , this snow blower would be amazing.
Damn.......that's awesome!
Love my EGO lawnmower :)
Killing it. Better than any Honda snowblower 😮
This is some
Good
Fluffy snow 😍
PAN you gained a new sub awesome video
Hey It appears to be doing a good job. I’m going to look into one. I will probably purchase a cordless lawnmower the spring. Nice video
Spring would probably bring cheaper prices, though this unit might not be reduced in price for a while since it's so new and they keep selling out.
That's some kinda beast
Me: gets 6" of snow
Snowplow: *BETTER MAKE THAT 18"!!!*
It's actually crazy how often the plow goes by our place. They can go by two or three times during a snowfall
Great video..
It's doing pretty well, but my old single stage did 6" easy also. I'm not opposed to electric machines as I have a plug in car. I went with another gas snowblower just because the batteries are way too expensive and don't last long enough yet. They're getting there though, maybe my next one.
People actually buy these then wind up paying others with a plow lol
Doubt it.. we see the neighbourhood have a bunch of plow service, and they end up having to get themselves over the road stuff so the plow can clear their driveway. Quite happy with this, so far, hasn't had a minute of doubt that it's capable to withstand the heavy wet snow that inevitably comes with winter. Back in November we had some sloppy snow, and it included lots of water mixed with the snow. Worked great then too.
I have the Ego lawnmower.......I have a huge lawn that takes over an hour to mow, and the battery does it all.......4 years in a row ;)
I thought these things were a joke. Not to shabby I must admit
WOW Tremendously good machine. I was wondering if there was a battery operated snow blower that can remove hard plow snow.
its worth the money.
I was originally looking at the Snow Joe 80v last year but I was happy that I waited an extra year before I committed to buying a battery powered one
@@panNCR I will do the same. great machine and great video. Thank You.👍
Two questions:
1. How long does it last?
2. And if both batteries die and i have only 1 extra battery will it work with one dead battery and charged one?
If I only do my driveway, I can do it 5 Times without recharging. It's rated for a 18 car driveway with 8 inches of snow. And for your second question, yes it can run on only 1 battery, but obviously will drain it quicker, and I suggest you keep it in eco mode on that situation. But no need to keep the dead battery in at the same time. It's actually not good to mix charged and dead batteries
@@panNCR thank you!
He has it in "Turbo mode," hence the whining sound. The batteries are taking a huge hit.
Yes, i did have it on highest setting there. I dont use it in turbo mode anymore as per my latest video.
Not sure if you already know. But, there is a reinforcement bracket that EGO does offer now for nothing to make sure the shoot doesn't wander. Since it tends to do that with out the bracket. Just give them a quick call & I'm sure they will be more than happy to send it to you.
Thanks, I received it in the first wave. I created a video of the installation when I got it
@@panNCR do the new ones come with it automatically now?
@@socommaster couldn't tell you.
@@socommaster They do not. Just got mine last week and need to order the bracket.
Thanks for the update. Interesting they aren't coming with the brackets yet.
I'm seriously considering buying this. Could you make another, longer video showing a realistic battery life performance? Thanks.
If you listen to the ending of this video, czcams.com/video/naql00sKCmM/video.html , you'll get an idea of what the battery life is like
A corded version of this would be perfect (for me), and should be much cheaper to purchase since no batteries.
This cordless one is a beast, but will give me range/endurance anxiety every time. I don't think this here can last my 15 car driveway on single charge dealing with a foot of snow.
it's rated for an 18 car driveway with 8" of snow, so I don't think your driveway would be an issue
A corded version wouldn’t be nearly as powerful. This motor is easily running over 4000 watts. The most you could get from a normal 110V 15amp circuit is ~1500 watts and that’s if nothing else is plugged in. You would need a dedicated 220V 20 Amp circuit to run this and the extension cord would have to probably be 10 Gauge. It’s amazing how powerful this machine is
@@epap1375 I fully agree. Was thinking of a 240V electric dryer type outlet (as also used to charge EVs). My Toro corded PowerCurve is rated at 15 amps peak. That is approx. 2.3 HP at the motor shaft. A 220-240V set up can double the available power to close to 5 HP or more. That will be enough for me, and will keep the cord weight still manageable.
I don't need the very high peak discharge power available from a battery set-up
@@epap1375 Totally Agree. I don't need it as powerful as this beast . 220V outlet can double power output available from aToro PowerCurve as example from approx. 2.3 HP peak at the motor shaft to almost 5 HP. That will be enough for me
I heard ego now has 10amp batteries, i wonder if they plan on selling this unit with the 10 amp batteries?
Good question. Only issue - the 10AH batteries are $450 each. So if you wanted to upgrade from base, you're looking at the cost of another snow blower. Its incredible to see how far battery tech has come (snow blowing is likely the highest duty cycle a typical homeowner would use), but for now, Gas is still king for this application. Only question - for how much longer?
they sell the 10ah batteries with the riding mower, the z6
I have a stone wall at the end of my driveway and the length of the wall the snow has no place to go but my driveway and with some deep snow fills in I'd like to see that blower knock that out
It'll take care of it. Check this video out
czcams.com/video/mxtio1RhXY0/video.html
I bought the ego stn2416 that came with the 10ah, but something i did no realize before i bought it. Is that it is much noisier than i though. The high pitch sound when the auger is running is kinda too loud. The only reason i bought the Ego was because it came with two 10ah and it is a 24 inches which fit my single car garage.. the Toro which was my other option is a 26 inch (if you want open differential) and 26 inch was just too big for my garage, it would scratch my car if i don't park like a surgeon. But the Electric toro 2-stage is quieter , in fact it has a more pleasant sound. I suggest if you haven,t bought anything yet, to try the Toro before getting the Ego,. I would like to return my Ego to get the Toro but it was such a pain to have it delivered , unbox it, that i don't really want to go through this again.. but i still can, as i have few days left to return my Ego
yeah, but it's much quieter than gas. toro is a different design, 1 motor drives both the wheels and auger
what did u end up doing
Why do you keep backing up instead of just turning around and rotating the chute?
Because i'm sending the snow to my front yard. my neighbour's a douche and doesn't want snow from my driveway in his yard.
@@panNCR I’m your neighbour. Why are you calling me a douche? I’m a good guy.
nice try ;-)
@@panNCR Just kidding with you. Take care and stay safe.
Nice. 👍👍
Thanks 👍
At 55 sec is there a cut off of the engine?
Yeah, had the self propel set too quick. It was driving the motor too hard. Backing off the speed helped
Where’s all that snow going? Onto the neighbours garden 😂🤣
Nah, it's going on my front yard.
Awesome video.....not much snow though....I wonder how well it does in the 2' snow I got :D
I got EGO everything except for snowblower.
BTW, how long did a pair of 7.5ah batteries last?
It'll just about handle anything a gas one could handle. and if I don't clear the backyard much I can do my driveway five times in one charge
@@panNCR N nice, so it can handle lots of snow....but of course, my driveway is 150 feet long, so.....I'm guessing the batteries will last 15 minutes? That should be enough to do half of my driveway. That's not bad at all.
you can get about 40-50 minutes run time in eco mode
there is a video on here of a guy who has a long driveway and clears it twice on one charge. I can do my driveway 5 times in one charge
@@panNCR Oh cool, I might have to see if eco mode works.....may not work all that well with the wet or dense snow we typically get.....my leave blowers has all kinds of settings too, but the only setting that blows wet leaves is to use turbo the entire time
I think the power and function is impressive and really appreciate the demonstration. My concern isn't the battery life while clearing the driveway, it's with the lifespan of the battery likely lasting 2-4 years before needing to be replaced. At $500 a piece are you concerned with total cost of ownership over its life?
People have been saying that their batteries last 5+ years, we'll see. This will be my second season with the snowblower. Already used it once this season in super wet rainy snow. Didn't want to ruin my camera so didn't record it. But it makes the soaking wet slushy snow easy to get rid of
Why do you think 2-4 years? Seems way too low. I'd expect closer to 6 with heavy usage. Lighter usage may last much longer. Even then it's not like the batteries stop working. Just have reduced capacity.

@@seymourscagnetti1413 from the mechanical point of view you are absolutely right about the HONDA unit . From the pollution direct effect the operator point of view…. Maybe why HONDA is introducing battery tools into their lineup now.

Nice video
Thank you for sharing

Test of time will be the judge
Yes indeed. Second year so far and used it twice this season. So far so good. Ego batteries have a history of lasting 5+ years. Only issue would be battery degradation, which would still allow it to run, just with less runtime
So let’s say 4 years have gone by.....if it would need a repair where do you take an electric snowblower to get fixed?
there are authorized repair facilities or you can order the part and fix it yourself like you would a gas snowblower
Ok thank you. 👍
Awesome machine. Still think gas is more powerful. How long did it run on a full charge
As shown here, I can do my driveway and some of my back yard 5 times in one charge czcams.com/video/naql00sKCmM/video.html
Good demonstration, but still not there yet.
well if my camera hadn't crapped out on me today and start spitting out corrupted videos, I would have demo'd 21" high wet road snow.... I'm amazed at this thing. but I'll show you another person video of the same thing
czcams.com/video/mxtio1RhXY0/video.html
Doesn't it go in reverse? Why you manually pull it back?
Because it's easier. Never make the machine do what you can do for yourself.
Yes, there is a reverse, however i find it both easier and faster to just pull it back myself. The wheels turn freely when not engaged.
How much does it weigh?
about 143lbs without batteries
@@panNCR wow thanks.👍
Bought this thing. Now I’ll get a couple extra 10ah packs and operation will be infinite , and next year - 0 turn mower will give a birth in my garage. No more gas in tools, but I’ll keep driving my new f-250 diesel until e trucks will have 700mile range as this one does now
Yeah I am super happy with it. Practically zero maintenance. One less thing to worry about
I just bought mine. It was manufactured in May 2021. I wonder if it includes the chute fix?
Gas all the way. That electric stuff is junk. I'll keep my 2k ariens and leave that junk for the yuppies who have no clue
you should be able to use an Allen key to take the plastic cover off the hinge of the chute and check
i can't believe electric can do this job
believe it ;-)
tesla car is electric car . it does run faster than gasoline car
Always a trade off, yes? Great looks and power til those batteries run out. If you only have a small residential property, then this makes awesome sense. I have a couple neighbors that I shovel plus my parents, those batteries would die halfway through. And the 7.5 ah batteries are 350 dollars each. At this point of my life, I'll keep my gas blower, keep doing my own maintenance, and ready to go can of gas that doesn't need recharging. Maybe when these honking big batteries come down in price it will make sense.
Seems surprisingly loud
It's not really, the microphone on my camera is a sensitive directional zoom mic... The volume drastically drops when 10 ft away
Sounds louder than it is in the video, when I used it the first time my wife asked me why I didn’t use the new snow blower because she couldn’t hear it from inside the house.
So much for quiet. I prefer the sound of gas. This shrill whine is tiring. Probably have every dog in the neighborhood annoyed lol
actually, it is quieter than the video... the camcorder i used has a zoom mic which increased the volume. I plowed my driveway at 5am one morning and my neighbour didn't hear a thing. One thing to take into consideration is that higher frequency sounds don't penetrate walls as easily as lower frequency sounds do. So while a gas blower would wake the neighbours, this one doesn't.
@@panNCR my neighbors don't care about the noise of my gas blower, especially when I'm doing their driveway as well.
@@steve4628 They would at 5 in the morning or 10 at night. Weather doesn't wait.
How quite is this? Would you fell like an asshole using this at night?
It's more quiet than a gas one.
The high pitched noise gets blocked by walls. I used it at 5am and the neighbor said he didn't hear anything
this guy has never used a gas one to askk a quesiton like dat
@@randomrazr He asked about using it at night. Obviously one won’t use gas at night.
I wonder if tesla will ever make snowblowers and lawn mowers.
probably not , low technology
A few years ago I bought an Ariens gas powered snow blower. I really need to get rid of it and get an electric one like this Ego. My Ariens does a nice job, when I can actually get it started. It’s really a pain in the rear and not worth the frustration and money I paid for it. Bad gas, dirty gas, clogged carburetor, etc., etc. Very disappointed.
Just use fuel stabilizer and start it once a month. Years of service without problems
@@02hreblue30 truth is I should’ve done that from the get go, but I didn’t know better. Thanks for the advice. I may do that very soon as NYC is bracing for another potential storm 😩
@@nycak4713 each and every can of gas gets Stabil. Premium non alcohol gas only. Every shop will tell you alcohol gas KILLS small engines with corrosives and water build up. If you do these simple things it will literally always start. Good luck
Maybe quit using bad gas, dirty gas. Not too hard to figure that out. Nothing is going to satisfy a dipshit.
More for the land fill from an educated idiot with no clue. Just hire it done and don't make a fool of yourself.
I use non ethanol gas, no other additives in my snowblower. Just keep the fuel tank topped off to avoid any condensation. And start it every second time when I mow during the other months. Never had a problem yet. Always starts on first or second pull, never had a need to use the electric starter. Lawnmower gets started about every three weeks during the winter as well.
The price of this is ...
... available online with a search.
u know it have reverse... lol
faster to pull it back than use reverse
F the aliens 👽, humans are way smarter 😉 😜
It has a Reverse he didn’t use.
faster to just pull it back.
@@panNCR agreed. I have a gas powered 2 stage with 2 rev and 5 forward, and I'll still always just life the front and walk backwards. Plus you don't have to take your hands off the handlebars. The only time I've used the reverse is to go backwards uphill.
@@teddgram Yeah i only use reverse when go up the ramp to put it in the lock up.
Should’ve bought Toro
nah, this is great, I can do my driveway 5 times in a single charge
I was looking at the Toro, I like that the Toro has 3 battery slots, compared performance seems on par between the 2. I think the Ego is great for up to 6 cars with a heavy snow, but larger I would go with the Toro mainly for the extra battery.
Toro doesnt have nearly as much high pitch whine. That ego sounds really annoying. Just tried out the new toro yesterday it's very nice. My only gripe is that the 24" model has a solid axle so steering is a bit of a bear.
@@WatsitTooyah the only issue is while you have the key on, a motor is running from what I understand. And it appears to share the motor for both auger and wheels
@@panNCR yes thats right. It is pretty much the same design as a gas blower but they popped an electric motor on the shaft where the engine would have gone. It has wearing parts (friction disk) but it's a tried and tested system so as far as I'm concerned it's pretty good.
I'm looking forward to see how much power it can deliver on some real snow. Only had a chance with 2 inches of snowfall so far. 😂
That fucking whine on that thing. I'd rather have a gas snow blower.
Better than my piece of CRAP Ariens Compact 24!
The smell of gasoline and exhaust are a must. Its what makes men , men.
pretty sure it's the cock n' balls that make men, men.
@@panNCR and the gasoline in their veins

In your “professional” opinion, did it appear this gentleman was removing snow in direct proximity to his “home”? And, if so, is it your “professional” conclusion that you just might not know what it is you are talking about.
And? The video never suggest this blower being used commercially..
